.......
And those swords are blatantly predating their era. I mean, we constantly have clock telling us precisely when we are, and suddently we have the opportunity to get the sword from the future? Wouldn't it strike anyone as... odd?

Yes definately - but they look great <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
Maybe they could be worked into a weird quest that borders on the magical side of the game - quest reward weapons from a possible future era?

Seeing as how "Swords in History" isn't even a class taught in High school, and difficult to find in most universities... I would venture a guess that a teeny weeny speck of a minority of people actually would KNOW that. < inappropriate words deleted >

Anyone who can read swords decription. If game is dated as happening in 1690, and there's "1805" in one of the swords decription, and Benjamin Franklin in another, then I'd venture a guess that a sizeable percentage of players is going to notice the difference. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Oh, don't worry about it. Once they're in the game some modder will come along, see that they're an anachronism, and change the descriptions. Hint to the original creator: If you don't want this happening, change the descriptions yourself first.

I can't speak for Colosseum on this but I'm sure that TT, JPJ and others were thinking along the lines of the P& E add-on which has ships from the Napoleonic era.
These swords would fit right in there.

Thats a good idea for the P&E add-on <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

And as has been mentioned i suspect the 'stats' would end up getting modified for the era covered in PotC(i'd probably do it for my own version if it wasnt included in the mod anyway).

Oh and some nice websites to get more sword designs from:

<a href="http://www.armor.com/" target="_blank">http://www.armor.com/</a> - lots of useful pics that can be used for PotC

<a href="http://www.nmm.ac.uk/collections/search/listResults.cfm?sortby=title&name=Sword&category=edgedweapons&startrow=31" target="_blank">http://www.nmm.ac.uk/collections/search/li...amp;startrow=31</a>

- Later period blades from the naval tradition.

<a href="http://www.thearma.org/essays/weights.htm" target="_blank">http://www.thearma.org/essays/weights.htm</a>

- serious site with lots of info and some great links for everything about edged weapons.
