Now who wants revised flags?

To Merciless Mark: The merchant fag looks a bit dull though. I prefer the normal Portuguese flag. In any case: No regular player would recognize the merchant flag, I'm afraid. That is something we need to take into account as well. Even people who don't know that much of history should be able to tell the nations apart. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

What are we going to use the American flag for in the game? Not the player flag, hopefully. Nor the Portuguese one, if possible. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

To Le Sigh: Feel free to tell them anything you want as long as it generates some sort of publicity. I am no longer the modpack compiler anymore (Pirate_KK is) and, therefore, no longer the "leader" anymore either. I am just occasionally active here in an "advisory capacity". I can not do an online interview due to time and money contraints, but if they'd send me a question-list, I will try to do my best to answer. I personally wouldn't start a real obvious recruiting campaign anyway. What I would do is to try to just give publicity to our work and, hopefully, attract more players and modders that way. Ideally we should have Gamespot, etc. review PotC Build 13 and have them compare it to the original game.
 
Hey pieter i think you missed a few pages, i mentioned that i have uploaded the new flags to the FTP, and i went with the portuguese flag we recongize, and the player flag is a privateer flag now. you might wanna check it out <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
 
So..... ye going to use the flags in the build mod... or shall i whip up a new batch of flags for the current era? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />
 
It seems that we keep your current improved ones as additional downloads for the time being. I think new ones for the current era would be welcome. Then we can keep your current new ones as additional one for the Napoleonic add-on.

English Red Ensign - Ok? since the current build set uses the blue ensign i cant see much of a conflict there, since red is more fitting for the caribbean.
Duth Tricolor - Ok
Pirate Jolly Roger - Ok
Portuguese - Ok
French - Rework
Spanish - Rework(tricolor or the cross of burgundy?)
Personal flag - ?
 
i'm actually for the american privateer flag for the personal flag, but i don't think that unless new players know the background of the character they'd want it.

A question for you flag geniuses.

In the game at present, (what I will call the pennant, - flying at the mast head and rear of ship), is contained in a flag strip.
That is, all the various national flags and current personal flag are in fact in one long strip - the program taking the section that is called according to nationality, or personal flag when needed to fly it. - I don't know if the length of the strip is finite or may in fact be added too, or how to call a "specific" flag from within the program, if in fact an additional flag can be added to the strip.

I want to add the EITC "pennant" to the strip if that is possible.

I know I can change the "personal flag" to be the EITC flag, but I would prefer to keep that as an option for the player.

Pirate KK once tried to make a mod that would let you fly differnt flags, but I don't know what the progress is, the last time Pieter spoke about it, he said it was almost finished!
 
Right gents and build assemblers, check the new set out, its up on the PA! FTP, merciless_realistic_flagsPoTC

basicly the same as the old one except for the french, spanish and personal flag. which have been redone to fit the era and the theme.
