Pirates of the Caribbean: Patriots and Emperors

Johannes, you do locations? Why don't you look at the Portugese islands and start converting the people to Americans, re-locate buildings, etc.

where is the americans skin, and who island is portugal, forgot..<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />..
and what do you mean with relocating?

I think that this mod is an INCREDIBLE idea. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" />

We haven't any American skins as of yet, however, the Spanish naval officers from the JMV pack do resemble the Continentals. (Blue coats, red lapels.) Re-locating, like moving builds about, etc. If you don't know how, don't worry about it. I think Illa Muelle is the Portugese island. If not, then Conceicono.

Lord Nelson, (The newcomer, not the other Nelson) glad to see you here at PA! Welcome aboard, Sir. *twitter of pipes, rattle of muskets, stamp of feet comming to attention.* If you are interested in joining the mod team, run up a signal!

The Portuguese island in PotC is Conceicao, Isla Muelle is Spanish.

My two eurocents.

You can't just relocate buildings. You have to edit the model, the walk patch and some more files. That is far from easy. Heck; It probably would be easier to make an entirely new town from scratch. And we don't even know how to do that.

I think this mod has the potential to be really good, but you might try to do too much at once. Try and define what you consider the priorities to make this mod. Then first finish those. Make sure you prioritize the parts that are easily done. For example: Try and get the ship skins done. Then release a first version. Then, once you got the quests done, you can release a second version. It would be a shame if you take up so much work that you won't ever get anything done.
BTW: I would personally like it if we could figure out what parts of this mod could be added to the Build itself, instead of into an additional mod. I don't like the idea of replacing anything, but if you make anything that can be added to the Build without replacing anything (ships, for instance), I would want to add those into the Build. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

yep, I think thats a good Idea Pieter,
relocate buildings is far from easy yes,
but there are some plans for it, but it is not a town in the time of napoleonics time..
when the skins are there, I will set the new ppl in the town:)
I thin kthe first release can be onley new skins, than the quests
than dialogs..
my 2 cents

Ok, well, I think we can use the new redcoats and frogs, the spanish navy skins for the Americans, and don't worry 'bout relocating buildings then. For now, I need to see new names and skins on Conceico, updates on Redmond/Greenford, and Falise de Fleur/Oxbay.

I need an update on the ship list status. What rates do we have finished right now? What nations are they from? I heard about Seb' working on the French Navy and that the Royal Navy is almost finished. If so, I need a list posted of what ships from what nations, etc.

what for name must it be, english, dutch :p
american names?
Ill see what I can do <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Have a majority of English names, but also include a good peppering of Dutch, French and Spanish names. America became a rather diverse nation.

Conceicao :
skins
names?
^ I have to do that? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
im also seeing if I can make a new questline...

Skins and names. Looking forward to the new questline. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

CJPJ.

I've lost track of all the skins I have, I have to check, but I've been so tied up with trying to re-model the manowar I haven't looked at what's there for a while. From what I can remember there are the following ships:

1 6th rate frigate
2 5th rates
1 50gun 4th rate might make Hawk's old 64 into a 58 and have 2 5th rates.
64, 70 and 74 gun 3rd rates
1 90 gun 2nd rate.
Working on re-modeling the manowar stern to make a more victory like 1st rate which will have 100 guns.
There are several versions of Hawks new 64 one which I did that I added a second row of gun ports to which when I make it into a ship I might rate as 84 or somethinh like that.

When I have finished doing the 1st rate, I'll free up some of space for posting pictures and post screenies of all of them.

There is also a french battleship, a fearless skin in black and red, a french lineship and a british one too, there are a few of Seb's skins that I have only looked at the tga's for and have not made in to shipsas yet. There's loads and loads of stuff there it's just a matter of getting round to compiling it all.

Good. I need to know what we have and don't have. Prioritize. Keep up the good work. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
I'll update the to-do list.

I don't know how to mod really, and I don't know any programming languages, but i will help with historical and artistic details.

We should avoid large fleet battles for two reasons

1. AI, graphics cards etc will find it difficult to cope
2. Your fleet is limited to 4 ships.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Here's an interesting idea, is it at all possible to increase the number of ships the player can control.

Some time ago I was trying to change this and I'm affraid that four ship limitation is hardcoded... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

Well if someone would be willing to give me a walkthrough sometime as to how PoTC modding is done and what utilities I will need, I might be able to take the time to and look into the issue with creating areas, i've done a little bit of level design in the past.

All you need for modding in Notepad. The files in PotC are in the PROGRAM and RESOURCE folder. The PROGRAM folder contains all codefiles that you can edit. The RESOURCE folder contains sounds, textures and models. I would recommend having a look through the PROGRAM folder just to see what it's like. We have several programs to help in model-making/texture-editing. What would you want to mod? Be sure to check <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net/index.php?act=announce&f=12&id=2" target="_blank">this</a> for programs used for PotC modding.
