Now we need to start actually making use of this. I've got the Twitter feed set up to automatically post anything that we post on the Facebook profile,
so that should allow anyone to post to Twitter who I set as Facebook profile Admin.
Please let me know if you want to have Facebook profile admin rights and I'll set you up for that.

Maybe we should also have a REAL PiratesAhoy! Youtube account where everybody can post the videos that they post on the ModDB and elsewhere.
 
So who wants to have Admin rights on the Facebook page so you can post things to there and get some content up?
Alternatively, who wants the login details for the Twitter feed so we can start putting pirate-, nautical- or age-of-sail-related stuff on there too that we find interesting?

Thagarr is being positively heroic today! He's sorted out the link between the main PiratesAhoy! page and our new Twitter feed!
That combined with all Facebook posts being automatically posted there as well should ensure that our Twitter feed will be kept properly up-to-date and will give people a good reason to actually follow it.
It'll be even better if some people from the CoAS modding scene join in somewhere so their content gets posted too.

And anyone who runs into interesting things to post, please let us know so we can post the link too.
And if you're interested in keeping the Twitter feed up-to-date yourself but don't want to make an account, let me know and I'll pass you the login details.

We've had our Facebook page for just under a week now and already somebody is asking if any CoAS content will be posted on it also:

I will once again repeat my request for some CoAS Members to join in the promotional efforts we are embarking on here.
I will not be posting much CoAS content, so some of you really will need to take some initiative here too if it is to go anywhere!

Just a bit of an update Pieter, with the change to XenForo the Twitter feed no longer works, but you probably already know that.

I'll try and find a plugin or something that might do the same thing, but I am not very hopeful for finding anything.
 
There are a fair number of social choices in the admin of Xen, I'll have a look see.
 
I didn't know about that yet, but it would be nice if we could get that Twitter feed back up and running.
Alternatively, we should post EVERY News post on Facebook which will automatically put it on Twitter too.

I do regularly see e-mails that new people are following the feed, so it IS doing something at least.
 
Pieter, I have to get back to your PM's but just a quickie.. To get the twitter and facbook going I'll need login for them that way we can start mirroring things and get a twitter feed (don't know if I need the twitter login for that, wouldn't hurt though)
 
Pieter, that twitter account also has a lot of personal info and events about you. You sure you want to use it as the PA! default?

With the facebook, I don't have an account (because it's evil) so not alot more I can do on that one it seems.
 
You know, I'm not big on all of the social networking thing. Is it fair to say however that if we were to use twitter/facebook for PA! it would only be echoing things we do here anyway?

I cannot actually see the benefit of it, not trying to be anti-social networking but really, could someone tell me why?
