Possibly so Amos.

They are going to film them back to back and current rumous on the films are:

1. Johnny Vegas has signed on for role in one or both films.
2. They might stray away from the Caribbean, possibly into Thailand.
3. Keith Richards may or may not be in as Jack Sparrow's father (one of the producers has said that now the surprise has been spoilt then they might drop that idea)
4. Geoffrey Rush will appear in POTC2 and may appear in POTC3 as well as Barbossa.
5. POTC2 might be released in 2006.
6. The title of POTC2 (Treasures of the Lost Abyss) might refer to the first pirate ship that plied its trade in thr Carribbean.
7. Orland and Keira have been signed up to do bothe sequels.
8. I don't know about that, mate.... Perhaps it would let Will come into his own as a pyrate. A passing of the torch,as it were. i didnt know there was going to be a secend or third film so thanks for the info although i did think that the first was left open for a sequal

POTC 2 would be..................dumb. I could barely sit through the first one more than once. I prefer movies like Master and Commander with more action. Although, if they did do it in Thailand, they might be able to throw in a bit about Kanhoji Angria.......
 
Well, I'm not so sure if I should be glad about the movies (sequels tend to be bad) but lets hope for the best.

I would like to see them film a least one mocie in the Caribbean.
 
if it doesn't have Johnny Depp (one of my my favorite actors since 21 Jump Street, especially the episode when Dom Delouis' son shot him in the ass and he had to have a hemorroid cushion with him all the time) I'm not biting. He made the original. I don't think the films would do well without him, I doubt i'd watch them. I love pirates, so, yeah, I guess I would, but those would be relagated to the "rental" files. Not a good place to be.

Chow In Pirates Sequels?

Hong Kong action star Chow `Yun-fat` is set to play a pirate in the upcoming sequels to last year's hit Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, the French AFP wire service reported. The wire service cited a report in the `Chinese-language` Apple Daily newspaper, which quoted Chow's wife, Jasmin Chan `Wui-nin`, as saying Chow will play the famous `15th-century` Chinese pirate Cheung Po Tsai in the second and third installments.

Chow will team up with members of the original cast, including Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush and Keira Knightley, the AFP reported. Rolling Stone legend Keith Richards will also play the father of Depp's character, Capt. Jack Sparrow, the wire service reported.

Chan said both the movie's producer and director contacted Chow's management company in the United States two months ago, and director Gore Verbinski flew to Hong Kong last week to discuss the screenplay with Chow, the Apple Daily reported.
 
You know, I really loved Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa ("Yer off the edge of the map, mate! Here there be monsters!"). Excellent character and some fine acting. But how the heck do they plan on bringing him back for sequels? I mean, a prequel I could understand, but then they wouldn't be able to have Katherine or Will in it too much.

Chow `Yun-Fat` is a fine actor and I'd have no arguments seeing him in the next POTC.

Yeah. I got to thinking about that. Everyone says that Depp made POTC the hit that it was, and, while that may be true, it wouldn't have been as good without the awesome villian that was Barbossa. I dunno... i can't fathom what kinda plot they could do as a sequel. There are many shows out there which they contrive some lame and unbelievable plot just so that they can milk some money off a sequel, and i hope it's not going to be like that...
