Started playing the latest update today.
I'm not that far into it and seems to be going ok!
The Language choice is not working (German)!
there is no Dialog, so Malcomb is very stumm!
( not talking). Reload of Pistol every time one goes to a new screen,
it takes so loooooong, you can do without one!!!
But that has been in 14/4, would there be a setting like internalsettings?
If there is, I sure did miss that one!
At the moment I'm reporting to the Gov. in Redmond and it's been going

The German language has never been working. Reason: The translated files don't exist. The support is there, but the files aren't. "Solution": Play in English like usual.

I've got no problem with the lingo! It's the fact that the option is there

That's really odd. I have tried to confirm that problem with the gun, but I have been unable to. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

It might have something to do with the ammomod. Turn it on and see if the problem still occurs.
 
pieter, you map's a bit skrewy. the left part is like the old, while the rest of it looks like a misprinted newspaper. it's two layers over each other, badly misalined, and the sea layer on top. the ship location indicator and the names are as they should be. at least, i presume that the ship should only indicate the island you are at, not the precise location.
 
I know. That's because the old map is shown and the sea.tga file is shown as well, making it a bit messy. Will be solved soon.

Anybody please confirm the following bug: If yuo have more than one of an item, the number in the Inventory screen is NOT always correct. For example: If I have two or more cursed coins, it says I have 7 while I just have two.

After further investigation, it seems that the game is counting something, rather than showing the proper amount. It said Pistol Bullets 5, Gunpowder 6, Cursed Coins 7, Indian Figurine 8, Other Item 9.

In the meantime, open RESOURCE\INI\INTERFACES\map.ini and NEW_INTERFACES\map.ini and add <b>;</b> before textureName = interfaces\background\map.tga. That way the old map will be disabled, leaving only the accurate sea.tga file. In future versions we'll probably start using the new map I've worked on.

Found and fixed. It said "i" in the code where it should've said "j". Fix will be in the next update.
 
I've been working on the treasures the past hour or so and am pleased to tell you that Cursed coins are fixed now. You should be able to find them in treasure chests (not tested yet) and they now work properly. Each coin gives a -1 luck decrease, but it doesn't say so in the inventory. So if you have ten coins, your luck skill is 0, but the player won't knop why. Evil, evil, evil. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

In general the player would never want to take these items. But if we can continue the work on Isla de Muerte, perhaps we can add a bit of a quest into the game where the player needs to find 882 gold pieces along with Jack's compass and can use those to lift the curse.

BTW: Gold from treasure quests is not fixed yet.

I think I finally managed to fix those treasure quests now. Find the file attached to this post, extract it to your main PotC folder. NO new game required, just reinit (press F11) and make sure some code appears onscreen to confirm the reinit worked. Otherwise press F11 again.

<i>Stuff fixed:</i>
- Money in the chests is now NORMAL money instead of weird "quest item" money that you can't do anything with
- Inventory screen fixed so that it shows the proper item quantities
- Cursed coins fixed and made more evil <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" />
- Cursed coins properly re-enabled in treasure quests. I have been unable to find any yet though.

A strange issue I found with the treasure chests: When you get to the treasure quest, there is only one very small place where you can open the chest, which makes opening the chest ridiculously hard. I don't mind it being hard, but not in an annoying and useless way like this is. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

BTW: Does anyone think the treasures are a bit overpowered? Should we tone them down for a bit?

Confirmed.

The only other thing I have found so far is that there are still no weapons chests in the capured ship's cabins. All other chests are working fine.

I wonder about the cabin and decks I have fast schooner, level 5 and I am in a big cabin and boarded from the large deck.
 
ok I install alpha 5 update...but now when I try to load a saved game (in alpha 4) that tell me that are incompatible with that build...is that normal?

Pieter, you said a while back that "BOAL_deck.c" is no longer being used.

What ever is being used should be looked at to correct the mismatch of cabins to ships, IMHO
