PotC Build 14/5

A couple of other things I noticed:

As before in the alpha when you finsih boarding after taking the ship the icon on the screen reamins the boarding icon not the exchange icon.

Something new is the surrendered capains that you talk to all insist on a fight. Even if the ship has struck.

trying to meet the Captain of the Requin. He seems to be in
no mood to talk, as you can see by the locked door!

The German language has never been working. Reason: The translated files don't exist. The support is there, but the files aren't. "Solution": Play in English like usual.

Your pistol reloads every time? Strange; I have done quite a bit of playtesting with Alpha 5 and the future update version and I don't have that problem at all. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wacko:" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

I found the "gun reload" problem from the Build14.4 if the AMMOMOD disable, if the AMMOMOD is enabled this problem doesn't occurr.

Obviouly we'll need to tone down the treasure then. Could anybody give me some good values of a minimum value in the chest and a maximum value? I think a maximum of twice or thrice the money you paid for the map would be OK? Anyone else has any comments on how much there should be in the chests?

I have found the cause of that bug and fixed it. The fix is Treasure_Quest_Fix.zip attached to <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=9637&view=findpost&p=179924" target="_blank">this</a> post.

The only other thing I have found so far is that there are still no weapons chests in the capured ship's cabins. All other chests are working fine.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
You are quite right about the weapons chests. I can confirm that they're not there. It has something to do with the Free Walk on Ship mod that Pirate_KK made; there must be some code to prevent weapons lockers from appearing in anything but your own ship's cabin.

<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
The cabin seems to be based on the boarding location set for the ships in ships_init.c.

That is correct. Unfortunately a new game is required to prevent compatibility issues.

That is inentional. If the enemy captain is stronger than you are, he'll insist to fight anyway. Maximus wrote that mod a long time ago and I finally added it now. It might be a nice mod, it might not be. Please tell me what you think. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

something really wierd i saw when i took a ship over:

the sail percentage , when i had swapped ships, had been reset to 100%, while it was graphically still damaged, and the damage effects where still there as well. but because it sais that the sails are at 100%, you can't repair them. some ges for the hull. the strange thing is, this seems to be worst with small ships, while it gets less bad when you take over bigger ships. the largest ships don't have this problem at all.

He does test it, but not always very thoroughly. Although that is quite understandable, because thorough testing takes a lot of time. Time that modders can sometimes better spend modding. Not to mention that you also need to all sorts of weird things you normally wouldn't try, just to make sure that causes no major trouble either. Otherwise we wouldn't even need any testers, right? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

maybe it's just a result of a faulty installation procedure. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> yet, it is pretty annoying.

I dunno. For all I know, you can't do much wrong with the installation procedure. Either it works or it doesn't. In any case: I'll suppose I'll need to keep an eye out for whether I see that problem myself.

i have noticed that with fleut of war, the 'of war' is gone. same for 'light' or 'heavy'.

Nothing was changed with that recently. I saw nothing of the sort when I tested the game. Post it on the Bug Tracker and I'll check it. *SIGH*

Hey...that's what we are here for right? Speaking of things one would normally not do....I got sick of Malcolm's prattling when he told me to distribute my skill points so I killed him......suffered a nice -10 reputation hit after being told NICE ONE! for killing my teacher......no problem there....it was a dirty underhanded evil thing to do.....problem is.....if you do this you can never get off the ship deck LOL

Do the Galleons and Fleuts have the proper medium cabin?

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->The cabin seems to be based on the boarding location set for the ships in ships_init.c.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Well it seems like the cabin you go to is about your ship and on a level 5 ship it should be pretty small. Where you wind up in boarding could be about who boards whom but a level five ship bording a level six ship should be on a small deck and vice versa on a small deck as well and that is not what is happening. I know we are all busy trying to get this in shape, but when someone has time maybe they could look inot this.

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->That is inentional. If the enemy captain is stronger than you are, he'll insist to fight anyway.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Ok, thanks for explaining it. I think it works fine, however with the new RPG skill system, it is going to take a long time before anyone surrenders but that is alright with me.

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->What exactly do you mean by that?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I mean when you approach a ship in battle and get close enough to board you get a grapple in the upper left, hit F3 and you board. In previous builds, when you defeated the ship, ransacked it and left and went back to your shipif you captured the ship the grapple changed to the exchange icon that you see when you get close to a companion ship (two arrows). Now when you leave the ransack screen if you have captured the ship the icon remains the grapple.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

the fleut has the right cabin. i'm not sure about the galleon though, i thought it was the large cabin without the outside wlalkway. but galleons are larger, so it would make sense.

i can confirm jason's bug, but i thought that it was around for much longer, even since the stock game.

I don't get it anymore. There is a bug with sail repair percentages that occurs AFTER a swap ships bug. Or IS that the swap ships bug? Then what bug occurs after that one?
(Sorry; I am rather busy today arranging stuff to get an American Visa. I'm not paying full attention to PotC as well, apparently. :wacko )

I'll need to check. We should be able to make some more sets of boarding locations for ship types, so that way we should be able to influence the cabins used and the decks and other locations.

that IS the bug. it has to have some name.

by the way: i think that the empty chest bug isn't triggered by opening your weapons locker, but simply by entering your captains cabin. that's what has happended to me now.
