PotC Build 14/5

my two prime skills would be leadership and luck. luck is very usefull for playing tavern games, smuggling, and um, something else that i forgot but was important as well. and of course finding (good) items.

Got a problem with PotC Build 14/5.
I've just installed the build 14/5 and want to start the game. But I've got an abnormal programm termination. A Runtime Error in the Engine.exe occurs. And the game can't be started anymore.

This is what the Error.log says.

Got the same (or similar) error to Jack Black.
Engine failure at load.

Gone back to v13.0.3.4 - no problems

think it's in a quest of some sort. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> which quests did he make?

It has nothing to do with quests. The problem occurs because reinit.c isn't in the Build 14 Alpha 5 Update file. Put attached file in the PROGRAM folder and the issue should be solved.

Stupid question - put it in before or after the 14.5 download - or doesn't that matter?

I know you're busy so will understand if you don't have time to answer

In this case it doesn't matter, but usually you should install fixes AFTER installing the latest update. Otherwise there is a risk the file will be overwritten again.

That worked - Thanks again !

Sorry to bother you again but there is still something wrong. I still have a Runtime Error on startup.
This time Error.log says the following.

What is the MAXIMUS_Functions.c file good for?

The campfire at QC beach seems to be buring day or night.

They're using the campfire for cooking, obviously! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Try to extract attached file to your main PotC folder. Does that solve that issue?

<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
It contains a lot of Maximus' functions. For the Auto Skill System, Language Switching, Locator Writing and a whole lot of other stuff. Originally all that code was in other files, but it's now it's all moved to MAXIMUS_functions.c.

I think Maximus fixed that, but I didn't add that fix into Alpha 5, because it was made after Alpha 5's release.

No, that don't work. I've got the same error message and game didn't start.

Hi guys,

I have noticed that when you equip it doesn't seem to be "loaded for boarding.

What do you mean by that? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I know this has been brought up before....but I am experiencing occasional crashes to desktop after sea battles, when entering back into the world map. They occur seemingly at random and don't happen after every sea battle...only some. Another bug I have found, if you can all it a bug. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but when I enter my ship compartments (Crew Quarters, Cargo Hold, Cannons areas etc.) if I have any officers there they are hostile towards me. Usually after a few seconds they stop being hostile, but if I am too close to them (Crew quarters especially) they attack me and then remain hostile. What would cause this? I nearly lost a hostage because one of my officers tried shooting me and shot the hostage instead......

These two into RESOURCE\INI then?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Nope. Don't work. Same error message as before.

Maybe I have to reinstall the complete game and all build 14 alpha updates. Sometimes this solves some problems though nobody can explain why. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />
