PotC Build 14/5

Which fix? The Falaise de Fleur one? The bug only exists in Build 14 Alpha 5, so this "fix" is simply the previous version of the file. If you mean the Treasure Quest fix: The file I posted only works with Build 14 Alpha 5, but it can easily be made to work for other Build versions by using WinMerge.

OK thanks, Nosie.

Pieter, the fix you posted - does it work for all build versions?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

The fix was pulled from a previous build...so assuming nothing has changed between then and now with that one file it should work I should think.....Pieter will this require a restart of the game?

by the way talking about the Berengere main quest stopping bug...not the treasure one....I found a workaround for that.....just don't visit your ship cabin until you are ready to leave town lol

nosie, i don't think you understood what i meant. you can also get into the room by talking to the guy that approached you at the docks first, asking him about everything, and then asking the tavern keeper where he is. you get different dialogue than the one in your screenshot.

It does require a restart fort he change to take effect.

Well, can you make the fix (FalaiseDeFleur) available for Build 13 too? (unless it works already <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> )

I hate when I find a bug that messes the main quest. I have to fix it then - but what's the use when I have to start from the beginning <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

The bug isn't IN Build 13. The "fix" IS the Build 13 version of the file.

ok, something's obviously wrong now: now, when i start a new game, i start the game as if a started in a gunboat, malcom gives me the lifeboat 'leaky bucket', there is instead of a short pistol and two potions a random ranged weapon and potion in the ship chest and when i equip the stuff, he says that i didn't equip it yet. i'll try turning off the evil stormy start.

oooooooooh no. i'm not going to restart! i'm having way to much fun with my bug!
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

haha...I just had the funniest thing happen.....I got killed in Falaise de Fleur, but was saved by an "angel", then Benrengere comes up to me and says what the hell are you doing? I have no money because I just got killed so I had no choice but to kill him. Then the innkeeper comes in and of course I have no money (man this room is getting crowded as nobody hasleft yet). I threaten to kill him too as I have no money, then people start filtering out...was just kinda funny having all those people in that room at the same time......well I am gonna start another game now, so I will let you know if that bug is fixed with the version 13 of the file.

So this bug isn't present in Build 13?

Ah, finally something good. With all these fixes, I'm getting totally confused. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wacko:" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

darkphoenix, in both cases, you don't have to kill those guys and neither do you have to give them money. i never do. if you do it right and have really high leadership, berangere will simply give you the document, for free! the tavern owner is even easier.

by the way, turning the evil stormy start off did indeed solve it. you are pretty much forced to use it if you have it turned on.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> The Berangerer Bug has been fixed by Pieters latest FalaisedeFleur.zip!
I tested it and the problem is gone! I'll delete the screen shots, so you don't have to
look at them anymore! Thanks Pieter!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />

Yeah, I know if you have high enough leadership he will say to hell with the colonials......but my stats don't increase quick enough with the auto up usually......I am hoping that I will have a 4 in leadership by the time I get around to doing the Berengere quest this time.....I should...I have 2 now and like a 93% to get it to a 3 then if I get a quartz crystal that will bump it to 4....time will tell......otherwise...it's me cutlass for him lol

Can anyone tell what is the Defense skill exactly for?? I'm not new in this game of course, but I've been reading some stuff on the Internet these days that it increases your ship's defense (crew)??? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blink:" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

hang on: would the bartholomue quest and the turks help quest still work?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Why wouldn't they? The bug only has to do with tavern rooms and those two quests don't use tavern rooms. The "fix" only changes Falaise de Fleur and the quests don't play at Falaise de Fleur.

When you have Evil Stormy Start enabled, you're not supposed to play the tutorial. Instead you must do a Stormy Start.

It is? At least that confirms how the bug got caused. Now I have to find out from Maximus what his bug-causing code was for so that we can figure out a way to enable what Maximus wants without causing the bug again.

I think Defense decreases the damage done to your ship, sails and crew.

it only decreases damage to your crew, not your ship. you have abilities for that. i believe that it also decreases either the damage to the player, or the chance that he gets hit. in the stock game, it was also used to increase your officer's hp. but it doesn't do that anymore. it's no longer nessesary either.

Ah, I thought that it was for your personal defense when fighting in melee combat. The most important skills for my character are Leadership, Melee Combat, Sailing and Luck; I leave all others to my officers.

yes, those are my most important skills too. in fact, leadership is more important than you might think:

it controls:

crew pay
officer pay
crew and officer hireing cost (or at least the crew hireing cost, officer hireing cost can be lowered by high commerce)
officer level and quality
it sometimes decides wether you can play a quest at all.
and most important: it plays a large role in how you play the main quest. with high leadership, you would have options you would otherwise never have. it makes the main quest a LOT easier.

I guess the most important are Leadership and Melee Combat (though Luck is very useful somtimes <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> )
