Pre Build 13 Modpack

It took me all day to compile the new Build update, but I am now finally done. Unfortunately, I don't have time to upload everything anymore. I <i>did</i> already upload the following files though:

<a href="http://pieter.piratesahoy.net/downloads/update_16-01-2006.zip" target="_blank">Post Build 12 Update</a> (4,92 MB)
<a href="http://pieter.piratesahoy.net/downloads/new_islands_code.zip" target="_blank">New Islands Code</a> (235 KB)

This will enable you to play the game without the additional downloads that I will upload tomorrow.

<i><b>To install:</b></i>
1) Make sure you have a 21 November 2005 Post Build 12 mods or more recent installed
2) Download and install the Post Build 12 Update
3) Run the "English voices.bat" file (or the "Russian voices.bat" file, if that applies to you)
4) Manually move all files from RESOURCE\Textures\Loading to RESOURCE\Textures\Loading\ENGLISH (or RUSSIAN, if that applies to you) <!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->EXCEPT<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> progress.tga.tx!!!
5) Install the New Islands Code file (if that applies to you)
6) Reset controls to default (just in case)
7) Start a new game

I am sorry for the complicated installation instructions this time. I hope it will be easier next time.

Once the additional downloads are up, you will be able to install them straight on top of your installation (after you followed above steps). You probably will have to start a new game again for the changes in the additional downloads to take effect, though some of the additional downloads might not require a restart.

Please try to download and install everythin over the coming period of time. I will consider the complete version the "official" version. If you run without most of the additional downloads, I might not be able to support your version as properly as I can support a complete version. Sorry for that. I just can't keep track of dozens of different installations. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

BTW: Please forgive me if these new files cause error messages or crashes. I have not been able to test them either and don't know if they work. I know they should, but I can't be sure. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> Pieter,

There is something wrong in this last update.
I try to start a new game but instead of usual starting room I've a black screen. I successfully load a saved game and then retry to start a new game this time the game start rightly, but I can find the sword where usually it's (cest is empty).

I did't looking for new texture, what should be differents compare to the prior version (5-jan-06)? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" /> bye, bye,
giuliootto

I am going to reinstall the game now and see how it all works.

What texture do you mean? The Loading screens? If you don't move these files, all loading screens will be black.

Question to giuliootto: You say your sword isn't where it usually is. Are there also no items in the chests? If so, it sounds like initItems.c got messed up. I will try and see if I can replicate that bug. Maybe I messed up.

To giuliootto: I am pleased to tell you that I found the problem and have managed to fix it. It was a problem in the Quabradas Costillas location init file. The fixed file will be uploaded soon. Thanks for notifying me about this. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

I uploaded the fixed update file <a href="http://pieter.piratesahoy.net/downloads/update_17-01-2006.zip" target="_blank">here</a>. That one <i>should</i> work. I tested it this time. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
For people who don't want to download the entire update all over again, downloading just <a href="http://pieter.piratesahoy.net/downloads/small_update.zip" target="_blank">this</a> file will do. I am currently busy uploading the rest of the files, which is going to take a while.

I am pleased to say that everything I can upload is now uploaded. Please visit <a href="http://pieter.piratesahoy.net" target="_blank">Pieter's Pirates Page</a> to get all the new stuff. I also changed my site a bit, though intend to improve it further. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I do have a problem though: I have run out of webspace and don't have space to upload the Corsairs III Models file, including two new captain's cabins and a new brothel room. I will try to contact Keith and High Sea Lass to ask for some more webspace. If you have any other ideas, please say so as well... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Awesome! If you need donations for more web space or whatever will you setup a paypal link on your site? Just wanna make sure this keeps goin! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Those are not yet used in the game, are they? So that's a not too pressing problem <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

To CCC: The Corsairs III models do work ingame. At least the captain's cabins do. I haven't tested the brothel room. The game works fine without them, but when I have it uploaded, the game should work fine <i>with</i> them. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

To Armored Ear: I won't set up a PayPal link. I will find other ways of getting it all working. I will try to make a new Build version, then Keith migth be able to put it up for download at the main PA! site. Then I won't have to host all those files anymore and my current webspace will be more than enough again. People will not have to pay anything as far as I am concerned. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />

<b>1) A new modpack update is now available from <a href="http://pieter.piratesahoy.net/downloads/update_23-01-2006.zip" target="_blank">here</a>.</b>

You need to have the Tuesday 17 January 2006 version already installed, as well as all the additional downloads (except the worldmap ship models, which are not required).

This version should fix a lot of bugs and adds a few new features again. The itemsbox code is reverted to what it previously was, so exchanging with officers should again work as normal as it used to do.

A known bug is that in some ship's interior, you are floating above the water. This still needs to be fixed (SCREWFACE PLEASE HELP!). If that happens, use the sidestep buttons and you will end up on the deck again.

I will be working on making a modpack update compatible with just the base version tomorrow. I have run out of time. After that, I will go and play the game myself to do some bug-testing and hopefully some bugfixing too.

<b>2) High Sea Lass has provided me with more webspace!</b>

This has two implications: I can now upload the entire full modpack at one server, so once the most nagging bugs in the modpack are fixed (and I think most of them should be now, apart from the floating above water in ship's interior bug mentioned above), I will upload the entire 220 MB modpack there. From then on, the full modpack will be the "official" version. Sorry to everybody with a dial up connection. However, I promise to those people that once it is up there, it will remain up there. You will not have to redownload it all yet another time after I put it properly on there.

The second implication is that because High Sea Lass doesn't like the brothel mod at all (nor does Nathan, as a matter of fact. And I am no great fan of it either), she requested I'd take it out if I wanted to put it all on her webspace. However, she agreed with me putting a toggle on it that is off by default, so that brothel-users and non-brothel-users can remain using the same codebase, which will make modding easier.

Well there it goes, the best start to this game I ever had...................Gone!

Updated, and All I get is Black screens ....after awhile the movie video comes on, but never any pictures!!, just sound

thinking stock POTC for me

Thanks, Pieter.

This all sounds very positive. I haven't really played the game in recent weeks, but now that I've got a bit more time to myself I'll get back into it and do some serious bug hunting.

Cheers <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I'll fix it pieter ! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

To Long John Silver: Sorry for that. I will look into it. But how can the movie be played if the game isn't working? You need to move from the tutorial cabin to Oxbay for that, don't you? Maybe it's just the loading screens being missing, but the rest of the game working anyway? Anyway: I'll look into it and see if it works for me. Trust me if I say that I will get the game playable again!

I have just tried to run the game with the latest update and I have not yet found anything wrong really. No black screens (apart from black loading screens; but that is no problem).

Anyway: Once I get Screwface's floating-above-the-water-on-the-ship-interior fix, I'll upload a full modpack version that hopefully will work fine for everyone.

I have uploaded the latest updates to my site now. Some things were fixed over yesterday's version, but not much. I did make an update version that should work for people not using the additional downloads though.

Now that I uploaded all updates, I'll just wait for the latest fixes (at least the one from Screwface) and once I got them, I'll upload a 220 MB full version that should work fine for everybody. Once that version is uploaded, I won't be changing it anymore. So that'll be the base version from then on.

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> Pieter,

What do you mean with: apart from black loading screens; but that is no problem. That no fix are scheduled for this problem? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />

I like to see Loading screens and hope that they will fix.

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> Bye, bye,
giuliootto

I said it is no problem, because I know how to fix it. You should just run SwitchLangEnabler.bat and they should show up again. Or you can manually move them from RESOURCE\Textures\Loading to RESOURCE\Textures\Loading\ENGLISH. All files except for progress.tga.tx should be moved there.
