is quite good for screen shots - does a few formats like bmp/jpg/tga etc.
Also makes videos and has an fps clocker. Nice all round utility - its small also(747kb), and the free version does all the stuff i mentioned <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

for a general graphics viewer i use acdsee32 as it handles pretty much any format(and is better than any of the bundled mediaplayer types imho) - google around for it as the latest version, which i think is now managed by another company retails for $50.
My older version came with one of my PC's - and i'm sure used to be freeware - so the older version might be available to download somewhere?

Edit: skull beat me too it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> - fraps is good and small at 747kb, you dont get much software for such a small size these days.
 
I work with so much disk space, it baffles my mind thinking that an extra 300k is too much <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Of course, I'm from the days when we had to fit all our projects on a 5 1/4" floppy disk... (Hook has worse horror stories).

SO ANYWAY... back on topic. I think it will be hard to find or make screenshots of things that are different, as graphically, visually... the only really noticable difference in that department is the interfaces, and a handful of 'notably' different ships. Most people arn't going to know that a green bowon one ship is actually different than stock, or even some of the new models.

It'd be like taking a screenshot of two ships next to each other and the blurb text is "The Build Mod has awsome new physics as you can see in this screenshot!!!".

LOL

So, I think just any decent composed screenshot of interesting action/views would be promotional enough.

ah....i remember my first attempts at programming my first ever computer - it had 1k memory(and an awful keyboard!) and it was actualy amazing how many lines of code you could get away with, even in the supplied basic! I dont think i ran out of space fo what i was trying to do at the time? I did get a 16k ram pack at some point, then i was sure i'd never run out of memory <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> how times change <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

on topic: that fraps thing does movies from in game footage, so that could be an option - link to youtube and the movie?? not sure how all that works though?

ref some of that list - well pieter has a load of the char shots on his site. You can do alot of 'work' to promote the mod but you need to find the right balance - forcing stuff down strangers throats rarely goes well, so pure 'spamming' will most likely not achieve the best results.

I'm going to post some threads(or continue old ones) at a few of the places i visit on the net where i know or think there may be a bunch of people who might be interested in whats been done to PotC. That'll be my contribution to 'spreading the word'.

Plus, if you look at the 'weight' of his posts vs your flimsy pile of one liners <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> ... bart is leaps and bounds beyond you. shiver me timbers! ye got 'em all in one! mybe we need a screenshot of a ship with red torn sails and a pirate emblem, just to show everything off. preferably on a ship added by the mods, like the new black pearl (when it's finished). it would also be nice if we had a screenshot of that horrible pea-soup like mists in which you can't see anything from a hundred yards away. those new features and backgrounds in the menu are stunning! they simply wont believe that it's the same game!

concerning my posts: so? i did make a lot in little time. i'm doing the same on the pirate-hideout. it drives them nuts to see me catch up that fast. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> and besides, considering the lenght of my posts, a pirate talks in deeds! i'm not one of those land-lubbin' advocates!

and i was planning to just send the screenshots to one of the sites, with a briefing about the mods, the features included in them that you can see on the screenshots and this site, in a polite way of course.
 
As far as screenshots are concerned: Definitly show some of the new ships, the new and MUCH better cannon fire graphics and some of the new land locations with newly added characters and buildings.
 
aren't the new locations copied from different cities? or do you mean the sailing map? i do have the 'new colonies archipelago' map somewhere. it came from your site. that one would exellent!
 
The new locations are copied yes, but some still have added new buildings, such as at Saint Martin and Antigua. These locations look quite different.

*shrug* ... I was just doing quick shots, and happened to have just stolen the last frigate in the french line off a new game. It was real quick. If I wanted to get more involved, I would take some shots with MOWs and some Little ships too, but I figure it's not that entirely important. Don't want to spoil all the surprises.
 
Actually, that ship is one of my favorites. It's pretty cool looking, has good firepower, and the bowsprit doesn't get in the way as much when your firing the bow guns. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />
 
yes, those bow chasers are a bit troublesome. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> now we need a screenshot of that improved cannon-smoke. those new flames look amazing!
 
has nobody ever noticed that the pic for the tartane/gunboat is wrong? it's supposed to have one mast.
