Quartermaster

It might be handy that when you have a quartermaster in your service he or she will automatically resupply your ship with food, rum and ofcourse all your canon load.
I always forget to restock my food and rum supplies and i mostly endup, half my crew starved to death.

don't know if it's possible or has already been implemented in the beta.

That is already in there, at least for food and rum. There have been times I sail into a port with a starving sober mutinous crew only to find that the store has no food or rum! When I then go to the shipyard to repair my shot up ships in preparation for a run to the next island I get a message that he has made an emergency purchase costing X amount of gold. Also, if you contract to escort a merchant and then go to the shipyard for major repairs, your quartermaster will often buy emergency food supplies for that merchant's ship. :facepalm

You are on your own with the ammo.

I knew about those emergency purchases but he never buyes more then a 8 day supply wich isn't enough.

You can change the Food in Options > Advanced options. on the main screen

I think you can set it so your crew don't need Food any more : :?

EDIT : Also look at Cannonpowder option for Ships ammunition :yes

...But of course that's a bit lame, while indeed it could be interesting to have your master purser/quarter master autosuppling your ship with food, rum, planks, sails, ammunition... We should think a little more about that ; after all we're in the Brainstorming section mates. So who's going to give it a try?

As a good quartermaster (s)he shall also think about repairing ship if she's damaged. Oh, that should be done by carpenter! Cannoneer would buy guns. Of course, such repairs shall involve paying money to the local shipyard owner - as said officer would just go to the shipyard and deal with the man there instead of player. Alas, we should also think what to do with things like "repair took 2 days" or "loading a cargo took nearly 1 day" - main character could be sightseeing the town with his/her ship unavailable or just date & time shall be changed.

Sounds damn good to me! You can't go to your ship until the repairs are over and there is no "fast forwarding". Well, if you don't want to wait, you just can go to the tavern to take a nap.(there should be an option to wait/sleep until the ship is finished) This would improve the realism.

Maybe there should also be a officer room, like the crew room. (and imo: the crew room is a little to small) with enhanced dialog option

Agreed on all accounts!

Only the gunner supplies the player and officers with ammo, but nothing else is being done.
And the doctor contributes to healing wounded crewmembers.
But I would like it very much if we could add more such things, such as proposed above. :yes

Also agreed on the repair/purchase delays. I already changed that for hiring crew,
but that was the easy one. The other ones should be possible as well though.
Maybe with some quest case coding... Captain Maggee?
It'd encourage players to explore the island in the meantime,
maybe do some quests there, talk with the citizens, etc.

More officer/crew dialog options would also be a good idea.

All the above sound VERY possible to me.
Just needs somebody to work on it. :onya

Yep it should be easy using some quest case coding, but like Pieter says it does need someone to do it

I like the idea as well :onya
