Request of the PotC Modding community....

If you can find any of my work useful, feel free to use it. All my work has been in the code, no new graphics or items or anything.

Hook

Thomas, excellent. I appreciate the info.

Hook, very cool. From all I've gathered, you are currently one of the most active coders for PotC. Have you considered working to compile your wisdom for dissemination to our fellow modders in a more easy to find and read format? I'm sure the entire community, PotC & AOP would find your experiences with how this sucker is put together invaluable. Thank you for your permission as well!

I don't know anything all the other coders don't already know, so I'm not sure what kind of "wisdom" I could write down. But as I run across things I'll keep a list and post that just in case it's helpful. Don't be in any hurry tho. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

No worries good Cap'n, I understand the writing one's memoirs can take up a bit o' time. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

But just think of the way you would simplify and help other modders in ways you may not even realize yet!

Here's to our community really coming together and proving just how awesome we can be. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Just a little bump to keep it fresh and let any PotC modders that haven't seen this thread know what I'd like to do.

Again, thanks to everyone that has given approvals, I really hope to see more approvals for AOP usage soon!

Currently I'm using mostly code. I'd like to have the approvals of all model builders of the new models, and skinners who have work in the game. That way I can at least use all the new assetts. I love the new inventory icons as well as a lot of the skinning and modelling work that was done.

Right now, I'm trying to get the berthing code to work. But I'm not even sure if I've got all the right code separated out and in the right places.

Anyone know if the berthing code is still available as an individual mod?

Thanks,

Cap'n Drow

I might have it on a CD somewhere still, but I'm not sure of that at all. I am sure that I don't have time to check it out though. Also I am not sure if that version actually works with anything still. It probably has been completely overhauled by now. I never checked that file out.

Well, if anyone has the current berthing code separated out as something I can peruse and modify for use in AOP, that would be a wonderful addition to my collection of stuff I'm working of for that game.

Again, thanks everyone!

Once again, I am giving this a little bump, in the hopes other modders of old might show up and give us the go-ahead to borrow thier work for modifying AOP to at least the current level of wonderfulness that is the PotC Build Mod.

Again, I thank everyone that has replied in the affirmative and hope to soon get more approvals for usage of things from build in AOP.

Any work that I do you are more than welcome to use. I have a sloop I've been meaning to post as well as the Amsterdam that was done. That's all I've really done so far.

Just a bump to get this back up to the top.

Say, William, Skull or Pieter, could you Sticky this topic for me so it doesn't vanish again?

Thanks again to all those who have given us an OK.

I beseech any other PotC modders to please let us know one way or another if we can use your code/resources to mod and upgrade AOP!

Thanks you,

Cap'n Drow

So thats one no. **smiles** I appreciate you at least responding Petros. I'll do my best to make sure the AOP guys leave your skinning work out. Did you do any code you want left out?

Thanks,

Cap'n Drow

You're welcome to anything in there with my name on it, though the only things are a bit of re-work on salary and food and rum. Nothing that I think you'll want, but you're welcome to it anyway <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Can't think of any coding of serious merit.

My model editing and skinning are listed in "initModels.c" and "Ships_init.c" files.
Most files have a "50" or "Petros" somewhere in name or internally, but not all.

There are other little bits and pieces scattered throughout the Build but I can't remember where right now.

Pieters site lists most of the things I added.

This post is a bit old, but I just came back from a long vacation and I would like to contribute with AOP, maybe is the excuse I was waiting for to buy the game.

I have not done as much as I wanted for POTC, since I never found out how to make the lighting effects for my buildings... but I managed to give CC Charles 2 fort models.

If AOP gives the possibiliy to add more buildings and create new towns from scratch, count me in.

there is a buildingset in it, they are called upgrades for towns, so you can make houses just like the building set.
