Yep, I didn't want to miss-speak.
I haven't been around for so long that I wasn't sure what he was able to accomplish.
I was going to write that no one has ever been able to make a Path.gm file.

Somebody did manage, but not any members of this forum for a long time. Apparently the Russians CAN do it. Somehow. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

I see what happened.
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->"The schooner sail-plan has two or more masts with the forward mast being shorter or the same height as the rear masts." from wikipedia<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

The stock Schooner did not meet this definition.
In fact the fore-mast was taller than the main.
In the build, the Sloops mast was used to replace the schooner's main mast.

i don't fully understand why they changed it though. it clearly says they can also be the same height. it would be too much work to change them now though with so many of them. incidentally, the war schooner is in fact a brig or schooner-brig. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> maybe the name should be changed?

Today I noticed that the 16 and 20 gun brigs are actually a brig-rigged schooner and a brig-rigged sloop.

Sloop; Galeoth; all the same to me... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

not to me. those hulls are really different from each other. the galeoth is wide as a barge and has a deck with no higher bits at all, while the sloop is about half it's width and has an elevated deck and cabin in the stern.

Because they were "Not" the same height.
The foremast was a little taller.

These were done when no one was 3-D modeling ... heck... we still don't do it.

I'm guessing that they wanted to add "Variety" to the game by adding more Brigs.

3-D hull work couldn't be done but rigging changes could be by using the Tool, so hulls were used according to the number of Gun ports and actual guns on the *.gm models.

It's called working with what you have.

I can quite understand that and I have no problem with that whatsoever. I know there's many more different ship types that were based on an existing hull with different rigging. I quite like them. I just hadn't noticed it before with those two particular ships.

I think I'm finished.

Nice work. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

those are his personal sails pieter. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> but it looks REALLY nice! that's going to go in my to-get list!

you forgot a rope on the inner jib.

I know they're his personal sails. But why shouldn't we be able to put them into the game as well?

cos they're HIS sails. how'd you feel if everyone would steal your trademark sails? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> that's why i always use red ones.

I personally would be fine with it. The weathered sails used by most ships in the game were actually MY personal sails before.

but petros ain't you, is he? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

The rope is there.

It is just a screen effect from angle and distance that hides it.
Look at the top rope from the flying jib, it's half there!

As for the sails, I use these in place of the red ones. They overwrite "sail_whole_red_plain.tga.tx"

I didn't think people would want to replace their red sails, or black ones for that matter, with Spanish ones.
We never figured how to add them as a separate set, so I never included them.

Here it is. [attachment=1290:petros_s...lain.tga.zip]
