Sailing under new skies

The deck is a bit crappy, i like aop masts but i must admit that deck is... i can't do many things for the deck but it can be changed easily if you want <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Well, that roof does look nicer now, but i'd make it more yellowish, to fit general color scheme.

Hey, Seb. I couldn't figure out where to get the lowmen models so I visited the website linked in your profile. Got this message! :

Just an FYI. Also, where are the lowmen models? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Heck?! A trojan??! I never had a problem with that site before, strange, i'll have to verify if there's something of this kind on my ftp, i had never putted any crap of this kind on it!

Anyway, there's no potc resources on this site, you'll find those lowmens on Potc FTP, the one furnished by Pirates Ahoy! in the <i>Aop lowmens</i> folder...

And again, sorry for this trojan, i had never heard of this before i'll to do something about that

No worries. My machine caught it before it could do anything and I'm sure it's not your fault. Just letting you know.

But I'm still a bit confused about where I'd find this ftp site. Don't see any links at the top of the page or any obvious stickied notes that would tell me where to go. Thanks again.

Can't connect via Explorer (and it recognises ftp protocol). Ah, well.

Try www.pafiles.com/potc
BTW: There is a modified AoP deck texture to more closely resemble the original PotC deck textures. I think it was made by Captain Patrick. I put it in my game and it will be in Alpha 8, so your AoP deck issue will then have solved itself. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

That worked, thanks! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

I should be barred from messing around with mods on general principle. Somehow I've got a bunch of grey outline crewmen now...

Did you remember to put the "lowmen.tga.tx" file with the other POTC\Resource\Textures\ texture files?

I did that. I think I messed things up by putting something in the wrong folder. Doesn't matter though. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. Using Build 12 now. I think that's probably the best build for someone playing for the first time. The menues are easier to navigate and the basic gameplay is solid - so far - without too many extra options. Build 13 strikes me a bit more as what you install <i>after</i> you've played the game to death and want to see what else the engine can do. Which is alot and alot of very cool things. But they don't necessarily all work together very smoothly (or didn't for me).

Only thing I really miss so far, a huge deal, is Couchcaptain Charle's little ship models for the navigational map and the "Age of Sail" slow map movement option he did. But I've just started messing with it.

Still Build 12 might be a good "Just Starting Out?" option to offer to folks merely looking for a more playable Pirates of the Caribbean experience. Then once they've a taste lure them in with promises of later, more adventurous, builds.

And my complete reworking and remodeling of it <a href="http://www.s31clan.com/privateftps/pietersmods/potc_downloads/additional/mapships_v2.zip" target="_blank">here</a>. These mods are compatible with any game version, including the original game and Build 12.1.
Petros has found out that the slow map movement actually caused crashes.

one thing i've noticed after putting petros' fix in my game is that the days seems to pass awefully fast. i guess i was used to the previous speed.

Setting the speed back to 1.0 will make the days pass faster. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

well, it's just that i noticed how big the difference is. one alarming thing though:

in one of bartolomue's quests, you have a specific amount of time to get from turk to tortuga. that amount of time might be too little now.

Does the 1.0 value actually make the passing of the days quicker? I thought the days would pass quicker, but you'd sail quicker as well. So any voyages would have the same length as always.

Wait.....WHERE!?! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/8q.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":8q" border="0" alt="8q.gif" /> I want it, i'v become disliking PotC cannon textures.

See <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=11190" target="_blank">here</a> for the thread about it. Captain Patrick made an AoP deck texture that more closely resembles the PotC texture and a PotC texture that more closely resembles the AoP one. I'll be putting the modified AoP texture into the modpack (already did in my game version). But that is not going to give you any different cannons. However, also in my game version, I put the black and bronze cannons by Merciless Mark and Thomas the Terror respectively on several ships instead of the original cannons. So you'll be getting some new cannons as well soon. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
