Selecting mods

How can choose which mods you do not want?

Darn my spelling! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> "How can YOU choose..."

Do you mean like it was with Sea Dogs where you could choose certain mods ?

<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> I guess so...

The difference with these Mods is that each build is better than the previous build. So instead of choosing certain quests like the option was in Sea Dogs , we just make things better in POTC.

In POTC there are things like new Islands, Weapons & Ships along with Treasure Quests & other fun things.
I have installed every Build & Update there so far , so that I can get the most fun out of the game, as well as fixing Mod Bugs that come with each Build.

With Sea Dogs we were advised NOT to install every Quest & Mod because the game would overload & crash.
With POTC we ( a lot of us ) are combining our resources & skills together to give everybody a KAG (Kick Ass Game).

Every little bug is being looked at & dealt with so that EVERYONE can enjoy the game.

We try to get everything to work together properly. However, a lot of mods have toggles on them, so you can turn particular mods off if you don't like them. You can do this in the file PROGRAM\BuildSettings.h. Open it with Notepad and change the settings.

ohh well i don like the ammo mod, and i realy mean i dont like it. Especialy the fact that takes out a few barrels when boarding a ship. try to change that in buildsetings.h ... guess what barrels are still taken.
and the new boarding cabins.... all new captain cabins the enemy spawns under me... can i kill it??? no......

I DONT LIKE PLAYING A MOD IF IS BUGGED, AND BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT THE BUGGED MOD CAN'T BE REMOVED I CANT PLAY Potc BUILD at all.

And the weapon mod... why in the god's name it affects pistols?? i can't repair a pistol.

It's not a big thing to make an installer like this:
1-clean the files.(copy standard ones)
2-check boex i want this this and that installed
3- append to the cleaned files the codes required for each.

PS. one more thing... please STOP putting new thing until the ones u got aint fixed yet.

If you dont like playing with mods then just uninstall the game then reinstall the the stock game, It's that simple.

To repair pistols you need to go to the Conceicao Blacksmith.
To repair swords you can go to any of the following Blacksmiths ;
Redmond
Falaise de Fleur
Douwesen
Isla Muelle

What is the latest mod you have installed? The 30 May version from my site? There are several mor fixes in <a href="http://pieter.piratesahoy.org/downloads/latest_bugfixes.zip" target="_blank">this</a> file. Judging by other people's reports, the game works reasonably well with those fixes applied as well. Not perfectly yet, but I will try to add yet some more fixes today.

What weapon mod do you mean exactly? The mod that makes blades and guns worn/average/good/etc.? That one can be turned off. Or the mod that makes blades decrease in quality by extensive usage? The blade damage mod doesn't apply to guns and can be turned off as well. Plus, like SuoiveD says, you CAN repair guns at the Conceicao blacksmith. Or do you mean the mod that requires bullets and powder to fire your pistols? That one can be turned off as well.

That most certainly IS a big thing to make. Making something like that would mean making an installer that would install, depending on the user's wishes, any of about 1000 different codebases or so. You might imagine that if you have an installer installing so many different things, there is bound to be a bug in the installer, messing up installations in certain cases. It will also cause major complications with bugfixing, because then the people bugfixing need to know exactly what mods you have installed, then try to figure out what would happen with that codebase. Bugfixing is much easier if everybody runs the same codebase, not if everybody runs a different codebase. Would make bugfixing virtually impossible! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

You will be pleased to know that we are already doing that. We have put a stop on adding new features and are trying to fix the bugs in the current pack now.

Bloody Roger,

Welcome Aboard! Nice to see you in these waters. Have a seat join us for a beverage.

You might want to take note that this is a mature and robust community that is now a few years old. Many people have worked very hard to create the vastly improved, fabulous game that we have. We try new things we work together, to test and fix. As Pieter suggested we many features can be turned on off to the users preference in build setttings.

I am as you play the game more you become more familiar with its many features and details. I hope you enjoy at least as much as we do.

Can anyone tell me how to capture and copy the image on the screen. I know others no how to do

Press PrintScreen on the keyboard, close the program and press Paste in Paint. Alternatively: The F9 button saves the screenshots in the main PotC folder as .tga files.

Jason: I also installed a little program here a couple of years ago, called "Captura"...I hide it in my quick Launch and whenever I want a picture of something, I pull it out and use it. It has three settings, Instant full screen, full screen in ten (10) seconds for delayed stuff, and a "Drag the box around just the Bit you want for the picture" for the third option. A little "save as" screen comes up and you simply save it as whatever file format you want......like "Jasons Picture.jpg" and away you go, tis very useful and easy....plus it was free

Like Pieter suggests the screen thing is great, but if you are watching a movie, or something on the screens catches your eye and you only want a piece of, or a small part....this can't be beat

I know I'll get jumped for saying this, but... I miss my Mac... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" /> A shame there's NEVER any software available for the damn things, the machines are leaps and bounds better then PC's.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":whipa" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" /> Yeh! I said it!!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" />
