Pieter - noticed your Enable_Brothel post in another thread.
I take it, that's in Build 13 ?
And will be easy to turn on = I want to hear that nice background music :)
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
It's reasonably easy to turn on, yes. The setting is in the file BuildSettings.h, where you can change a lot of the game's settings. The music also plays in normal taverns though, so you don't need to turn on that mod to just hear the music.

Just let me know when it's safe to get in the water ..."hear Jaws theme"
I'm ready install Build 13 when you guys give me the go ahead + "how to".
You guys really know how to "Build" up the excitement = I'm itching to see all the Build 13 goodies
The more you guys add, the questions I'll have = double edged sword :)
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
The Jaws theme is excellent. As is all other music composed by John Williams. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

The Pre Build 13 modpack is already available from my <a href="http://pieter.piratesahoy.org" target="_blank">site</a>: It does work quite well, but we're still working on fixing and improving it. The installation is quite easy (instructions on my site), but could be much easier. The final Build 13 will be just as easy to install as Build 12.1. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Sorry Rei, but I like Pieter's ship ... Does the Tartan come with harpoon/tomahawk missles :)
Your backend looks to be sinking = too much gold ?
Geez, I have a Battleship and I'm worried ... hehe
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
What ship? The Amsterdam in my signature? I like that ship as well. Strange, isn't it? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

HAHA, you win a cookie! Your the first one to comment on my new signature pic I whipped up the other night. Its actually a scene taken from Roman Polanksi's "pirates" towards the end of the film, where Captain Red has abandoned/sacrificed/marrooned his crew (from a brig), while boarding a Spanish 60 gun war galleon "the neptune", the steal the Incan Throne of "kapuaqu' inuaque", which you can see him sitting on at the stern of the boat.

Theres two jokes about the picture... first being... there is no class 8 boat in PoTC 'atm" <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> the other is, through some debate and discussion concerning some quest I had complained about 1,000,000 dollar men (characters in the game that actually have 1 mil on them sorta like easter eggs).

The other side joke was that when I test alot of the quest in the various builds, I often start the game with a tartan, and fire all the crew; so that I can progress as quickly as possible through the game... in many cases I end up at the end or cruise through the story plot in a tartan with almost no crew or just a couple officers I pick up as questables, usually ending up with a ton of money (in the millions) on a leaky dingy... which I always think of as humerous... due to the fact the little boat would be sinking under that coin/swag load.

I am also doing a mod/quest addition as well as I find time that mirrors the movie... about half-3/4 of the way done with the logical flow chart... and about 3/4 of the way done with captains red wireframe in 3d studio... although I am pathetic at keyframing... so I am not sure where I am at with his animations atm. Eventually, I would like to have a quest thats atleast 50 percent of the key notes from the movie that results you with a unique boat with the throne on it... so that means doing a new boat too... but thats no big deal. I can just draft one up in cad and port it to 3ds and spline it to a tartan from the game... anywho... preciate ya mentionin meh sig.

You want to make a completely new character model? I'm not sure that is at all possible. So far, nobody has ever managed to make new animation for characters. There is a feature for it in Inez Dias' tool, but I don't think it's ever been used. I can highly recommend trying to base your new character model on one of the existing ones. Reskins always work without much trouble. And some people have made some modifications to the models themselves. But nobody ever made new ones.

Looking forward to your quest. Sounds great. I'd like to see that film. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Im sure theres other places to discuss this, but hey, this is as good as any... been diddlin with 3ds and the vrml files using the tool to put em in and out... theres a couple things I noticed when importing some models...first off... as good as the tool is... its buggy... no shock there (but mad props to NK for actually getting this thing to do what it does). When using the stock bone structures and binding them to the models... yeah... thats a real pain in the arse as well (this is probably the realm where most folks give up)...

I did get a completely new character to properly animate though in the tool using the man.an... but there looks like theres some real tolerance issues within the game itself... like... it better be spot on perfect... or it hoses... (i didnt experience any tears or anything... but my model leaves ALOT to be desired 'a jester') This is why people it seems have either just reskinned, or only 'tweaked' the models... the game is just sooooooo anal about the locations/bones and how they conform to the models... Now as far as 'possible' yeah, i think its possible... a mountain of work but possible... probably more work then I want to do on somthing like this... theres just easier games to do characters in that ain't so particular about the particulars. Fun learning experience though. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":whipa" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" />

Couple things holdin me back...

my copy of 3dsmaxr2 3.1... is just that... old, and is missing some functions that would reaaaallly help out this kinda stuff... render uv to bmp where art thou?! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

would be nice to have some of pixelights products so i could paint directly too the skin rather then having to paint in adobe then vertex mesh... ahhh what a pain.... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Not too mention my plugin for collapsing the wireframe to a single object is acting up... dunno what the ell' is up with that.

On the plus side of the coin I was able to generate some good meshes for retexturing the tga's... off the base models using there mesh coords... sooo atleast Ill have a decent template for how to manually deform the images so they look half way decent to the skin. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Guys - well, we hit a snag :)
I can't beat the Greenford Fort.
3hrs last night ... 2hrs this morning = my shoulder is kiling me from "ruddering"
I tried with one Battleship = no way
I know; I stink.
So, I finally figured out how to buy ships; transfer stuff etc...
Hopped to Isla Muelle and stocked up = have 1-Battleship and 2-Lineships
Ok, now, how do I control the others = they seem to just rasise/lower sails at will, not in unison with me; they sail wherever :)
I want to send each lineship vs the fort .... then mop up with my battleship
Can I control each individually ?
Do I have to take all 3 to the fort ?
I'd like to take one; then the next; individually ... too narrow to have all 3 ships manuervering etc

I knew the multiple ship interface would get me :)
If I can't get past the fort, I'm finished ... renamed my ship "Last Farewell"; after the Roger Whitaker song ...hehe
Seemed appropriate considering all the death cutscenes !

Do any of the fort cannons explode at all?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Pieter - oh yeah, but I exploded first :)
I went back to the WalMart of PotC: Isla Muelle, bought 1-Battleship & 2- MoW.
Finally figured out the "multiple ship" interface = took about 10hrs of dying
Used the "sail to" option = when I sail better than my computer controlled ships, we're in trouble
I captured all 5 ships before Greenford & made one pass ... I guess only 3 ships total can attack ?
The battleship didn't last long, but the MoW took a pounding = I couldn't tell if they shot a thing :)
I decided to brace my ship at the right cliff and act as floating artillery, then move inlet to fire when the MoW blocked my shot ... that's how I beat it ?
I tried strategy, but none worked = I'm not even sure the 2 ships fired = I watched out of range, but all the puffs were from the fort ... my broadsides showed flames + said "fort cannon exploaded" ... no such wording at all when my 2 ships were sent in to attack ?
Basically, the MoW drew fire and I bombarded = I don't think that was proper strategy :)

Well, to cut to ther chase, I'm on Khael Roa(sp?).
Yep, I myself fought all 4 ships ... 1-MoW and 3-pirates ... used the "sail to"
I have 2-MoW fully loaded(armaments+food+great captains) + my ship(...Battleship) = that has to carry me from here on out ?
I don't know what's next ... I figured a fort + several 3-5 fights ... I got what I expected

This island looks deserted = no more stores/shipyards etc
Guess I'm going to have to make due with what I have.
Would prefer my officers, as Danielle and a old man don't bring me confidence :)
I tried to give her a great sword/pistol = no transfer button(...greyed out)
She seems invincible, but does so little damage =I might be in trouble :-(

Oh well, into the jungle/temple we go.
I'm surprised I made it this far.
The health potion button is for the poison potion ??? ... I have to ENTER to swig my red bottle = and yes, we're downing it like kool-aid ... hehe
Bought 600+ ... yes, from past RPG experience "I" can never have to many health potions !

Are you playing at the lowest difficulty setting? If so, you should be able to finish off the Greenford fort easily with just one Manowar. Just keep firing broadside after broadside and make sure you don't sink.

There are friendly people on Khael Roa, let alone stores or shipyards. It's a mythical cursed island kind of place. There is a temple there with a labyrinth in which you have to fight a bunch of skeletons. It is quite possible to survive, even if you have only Danielle and Clement with you.

For all I know, you should be able to use health potions with the C key just fine... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
