Ahoy!

If you remember, im the one from germany who asked abot sone converting tool from 3DS to .gm. So, i thik i found something helpful and so i Started building my "Small Frigate" based on the HMS Surprise from Master & Commander.
However, I'm not far now, but i decidet to show you a first pic for impressions and (maybe) some Feedback.
k, Lay back and enjoy <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

<img src="http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/6ue-2.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

grettingz, Chock <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Sure looks nice to me. The textured part, that is. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />
I sure hope you'll manage to finish her. We've had rather a lot of boat models being started, but none being finished.

I'll try <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":whipa" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Hm, do u want a full detailed cannon deck or just the upper deck?

ok, here's the actually status:

<img src="http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/6ue-4.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

<img src="http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/6ue-5.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

<img src="http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/6ue-6.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

waiting for feedback ^^

That ship looks amazing <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

keep up the good work!

I don't think you'd be able to reach the cannon deck in the game, so I'd say just the upper deck. Would be a shame to model something you don't see, but does decrease framerate.

Progress looks nice. I suppose these aren't the final textures though, right?

I don't think it's a good idea to make the cannon deck either, it might cause problems with some computers with a model that is too high poly...

I doubt that they are the final texture, he said it was based on the M&C HMS Surpise so he'll probably change it a lot...
but who knows?

will you make the figurehead too?

HI!

First:
Thx for the feedback!
Hm, if u think that there could be some problems with the walkfiles, i think i'll try this before... i mean, you are able to go stars, and the crew is able to climb up to the sails, why shouldn't it work?
but i will try this later <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Texture:
No, this aren't the final textures! thats just standard materials from the program for the rendering, like the water...
Do u know which texture sizes are the maximum allowed? 1024x768?

Front figure:
One of my friends is making some drawings from the front figure, i will build it later, 'caus this will take many time...
^^

I don't know about a limit on the size. There are several 2048x2048 files in the game, so it is possible to have such big textures. However, I would recommend not making the texture size too big. The textures for ships are usually 1024x512. You could make it 1024x1024. You could make it even bigger, but I think it's best if you don't. Just to be sure everything works properly on all computers. But maybe you could make a higher detailed texture version for better PCs?

Some new Pics:

<img src="http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/6ue-7.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

<img src="http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/6ue-8.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

addet some details on deck ant the big ah, hm... Rudderwheel? ^^
but i found one polygon mistake... hope i can fix it <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Ahoy!

Nice looking ship. I take it it's not a new design so much as more detail added to an existing design?

The mention of walkfiles reminds me... I'd love it if the walkfiles could somehow be edited to position the first-person camera in the masts, as a sort of crow's nest, to give the player a better view of far-off ships and better manual cannon aiming.

Nice detail there, matey.

Looking forward to seeing more of this one. Bring on The Surprise!

Cheers <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

ok, some new screens:
addet some cannons today

<img src="http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/6ue-a.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

<img src="http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/6ue-b.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Great stuff ! I would just die for adding this ship to my collection. But i guess somebody
else will have to die <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" />

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

say... are you planning on using this ship as one of the sailing ships in the game or as a location? If we can rig up some .ptc files and lighting files and so on for it, which should not be hard with Ines' tool, it would make a great boarding or ship-at-sea location for first-person land mode. computers would suffer less at the high polycount too, and you could go ahead and model the second deck that way.

Ahhhh......

Carronades and cannons. Very nice.

Cheers <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

hm, thats a good idea to use the ship for boarding too..
I will think about this. Ok, i inserted the lower battery deck and some stairs to go down. But there Won't be some other details, 'cause my pc is nearly crashing with tihs model ^^
Today i will add the fock mast (? the mast at the front <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> ), the windows at the cabin and then the model should be nearly finished
