Hi,

yep, that is correct.

Regards, Oldtimer

We could make it so that any quality blade can break, but wouldn't that be <i>more</i> annoying?
Right now, as long as you repair your blade when it gets down to worn, your blade won't break on you.

I think if you want blades to break, then Pieter's system works well for it. I'd prefer not to have blades breaking at all in my game, and don't want to worry about weapon quality so I have the mod turned off.

Hook

Thanks, Hook. It's always going to be a personal preference, of course, but as long as there's a proper toggle, everything should be fine. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

Maybe you can make the blades decrease quality mod dissable blacksmiths if turned off. Since if you cant make them worse it wouldnt be fair to make them better in the first place. So this way you are stuck with what you can find ^^

That would add a new agenda for people. Finding good weapons. Since getting them is much harder without blacksmiths than crappy versions :p

It does work the other way around: if you turn off the blacksmiths, the bladedamage mod is turned off too.
We could just put them both under the same toggle, but we might get complaints then again. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Think of it like this.

You get a worn blade really easy. And fixing it costs less than 400 gold. So you get a really good quality blade for allmost no cash at all and you can keep it.

Whats the point of finding better quality blades then. Your upgraded one wont deteriorate, so if you ask me its kinda cheap.

I agree; but maybe someone else wouldn't. I'm inclined to keep things as-is. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Just a couple of quick suggestions/questions:

I think there should be WAAAY more animals in the game. Also, is it possible to make some of them attack you....????? I was thinking about adding snakes.
Some animals I'd LOVE to see ingame are: eels, turtles, parrrots, crabs, crocodiles, cats, dogs, leopards, (ants/spiders may be too small), anteaters (possibly, getting a little random there). There is sooo much wildlife in the Caribbean, and in the game there are only rats, lizards, birds and fish. I no it might be a big task, but it would add a lot to the game. I was thinking that when you land on shore, if you went out to the water, around the rocks there could be crabs/ small fish/ eels, etc.... All of these are native to the Caribbean's islands. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I was thinking about making food in the game. One thing that gets me about game realism, is that the main character never does anything that they would do in real life, such as eating.... I've already made the stalls in the towns sell food. I no it's the least of your worries, but could someone tell me how to make the character need food/drink. Travelling through the jungle would make the player thirsty and less able to run.

Thanks. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

Ordinary animals can't attack you; the only ones that can are monkeys and code-wise they're characters and no animals.
Theoretically we should be able to make new ones, though that's not going to happen if nobody does it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
Personally I'd like to see horses. Especially if you can ride them. Which is, of course, a lot harder to achieve still. IF it is even possible at all. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Food? Interesting. Isn't that going to get annoying quick though? Personally I would like to be able to dine with my officers in my captain's cabin.
There could be some interesting gameplay dialog involved too.

Your suggestion sounds like it would play into the player's "stamina", which is something that is not included in the game's present health system at all.

Word.

This would be very cool.

It would indeed be very cool, I reckon have 3 options
- full: need to eat otherwise it makes your health go down slowly
- part: if you want to you can dine with your officers in your captain's cabin (most people would enjoy this occasionally)
- none: default PoTC

When you drink with someone in the tavern, siting down at the table, I'd quite like to see that a bit more, with food/bottles, perhaps onboard your ship, as in the crews' quarters.

yes i agree more interaction with officers would be very engaging and would bring alot of new users i think...

another i dea i had ,,and was ispired by something i noticed..:
your officers are on board ur ship with regards to their job----cannoneer on canons deck e.c.t

i think dining would be amazing...also add bottles to the tavern tables and be able to drink with people ...very fun..

it would enable players to really emerse themseves in the world and have a close 'relationship' with their officers

it is seen in many films of this genre and it would be a great addition..i doesnt have to do anything major just b there asa an extra..it could also lead to other things,,,such as mini quests for ur officers...

It could add a lot, but it should add actual gameplay value too. A "dinner with officers" mod would be great if your officers have personalities.

In one of the captain's cabins, there is already a table and chairs. There are many bottles and the table is set. At some times, there are peaches on the table, and sometimes a full dinner. Perhaps at certain times of the day, having dinner/breakfast/lunch with people could be a possibility. The officers could already be sitting at the table, and you have the option of joining them. This is already done when you sit down with someone, for example, when you gamble in the tavern. Add wine, food...and voila! Also, why should this option be restricted to with your officers only?? How about when you escort merchants....on their ship or yours?...

BTW, "stamina" sounds like a good idea. However, might make it a bit TOO realistic. What if ur running from someone and your stamina fails just then? Could get annoying, especially if you want to get to somewhere quite quickly... Stamina fits in with all of those other things, such as food and sleep which could make the game too realistic (might as well go out and do it for yourself!)...
