Story lines!

How much time? Takes several ingame hours.
With time compression, you can get to the next island very quick though.
You SHOULD be encountering other ships though.
You didn't accidentally turn off DirectSail, did you? Try the 0-key.

What's that about pirates??? You could lose ships at sea if they're either not hostile to you
or they're out of range when a DirectSail update occurs. But in those cases, you can toggle DirectSail off with the 0-key.
Other than that, you can chase pirates just fine. Or be chased by them. ;)

As I say, we'll make some options available to skip towards the DMC amd AWE parts of the quest once they're done.
We add those options for testing purposes anyway and you can use them for gameplay too if you want to skip.
We will not make it seperate storylines though; it's better to have it all together.
After all, we're trying to make it so that your choices early in the game can influence the rest of the stories.

Also having four short storylines compared to one long one isnt really a good idea...

Also as Pieter said this storyline is NOT linear, somethings you do early on will effect what can/WILL happen later ;)

I use the skip all the time and will add more skipping options as I write in some of the new quests ;)

I see now! It will be great! Will you release both of the story lines at once? And will there be any more story lines other than the 6-7 that are now?(after you finish them of course)

I didn't exactly get the thing about pirates. Will i meet anyone while in DirectSail?

Also, a new problem. In the middle of the ocean, when i tried to go to deck in 3rd person view, the guy was walking alone and i couldn't move the mouse or walk in front or back. I could only slide. The same happened in the port when, after a lot of effort, i finally landed. what's wrong? Maybe something with the ship i was escorting? I thought of that because (1)the merchant offered me 260000 piasters only to escort him from Jamaica to Eleuthera and (2)because when i was in the middle of the ocean and tried to go to his ship and walk on the deck(which proved fruitless because the guy did again the "walk-alone" thing) i found out that somewhere appeared the icon of the port i had left in Jamaica. Anyway, i pressed it and guess what! I was back in Jamaica... And what's more?! The guy was running in circles without even touching the keyboard...!

I may hold of releasing them to the public till they are done but I will be releasing versions to the testers and modders who want to try it as I work on it ;)
Yes I know of one new storyline that will happen and one or two that people are thinking of doing :yes

Yes you will but on the next sailho message they will disappear unless you temperarly disable direct sail by pressing 0

Sounds quite weird :shock
Your character might be set to actor type instead of player type (that would explain why you CANT move.
If you hit enter and pick sea you should go back to your current position at sea ;)
Which guy was running in circles :facepalm

The one from the New Horizons story line(Nathaniel Hawk?). At first he was running up and down in the ship and when i pressed the strange "go to Port Royale(i think) port" button i found myself back in Jamaica where you inform the governor about the French attack. And in the port he ran along the bay and then in circles until the game finally crashed. :facepalm

How often will you release updates?

At the moment Im busy cleaning my flat up (Im moving)

But one of the rules of the modding community is there is no time frame... the main updates (for the actual Build) was a new one every 1 or 2 months (these include my updates [when I have them]) however Pieter isnt able to do his usual work so they will be further appart...

I dont know how often I personally will be releasing updates for Jack Sparrow though :no

To tell you the truth i don't really mind for now as we have enough stuff to do with the Alpha 10.

What about the problem i have?

I still dont understand when/why the problem happens... try sailing straight from A to B and DONT go into your deck view from 3d sailing and see if it still happens

It doesn't happen anymore but i have another one in Jack Sparrow story line in the beginning, where you have to escort Becket to Port Royale in Jamaica. I talk to him in the tavern in Barbados(i can't remember the town's name) and he tells me that he'll wait in the port. I go to the port(where at first i thought i would find him there and talk to him but he wasn't there), enter my ship and go to Port Royal. All good so far. But when i land in Port Royale and go to the port, he's not there. I checked the walkthrough in the WIKI and it says that he'll talk to me when i'll get off my ship but i can't find him. What's the problem?

That apparently sometimes happens, but I haven't been able to replicate it so far.
Try reloading from a previous save and try again.
I know sometimes quest cases refuse to execute and when you try another time, it'll work fine.

As for the merchant ship deck thing, I'd indeed recommend not going to his deck.
Possibly there's some code that makes part of the "quest complete" code run if you're in the same place as the merchant.

I think I worked out why Beckett sometimes doesnt show... make sure he has actually disappeared from the tavern BEFORE you leave ;)

I had already found that if i load a previous game he would sometimes appear but thnx for your answers anyway!

Is any of the current story lines concerning only pirates? I would really like a story line in which you get missions only from pirates, attack any ship you want, raid any town you want and all these be the main quest.
For example, you are born and raised in a pirate town and, after a not so good childhood, when you reach let's say 18 or 20 you decide to get a ship by any means and become the most dreadful pirate of all times.
At first you get missions from the local lord let's say, but when you have enough reputation you get missions from more feared pirates until you reach the most dreadful pirate of that time, like Henry Morgan. After you finish all his missions you can maybe compete against him, betray him or decide to kill all of the pirate lords till you finally kill him and claim the title of the most feared pirate of all times.
Just an idea i would really love! Or anything that includes pirates as the main quests! Of course this could be based on some story for example and have different paths, legendary hidden or lost treasures and other "pirate" stuff!

Also, how much money do i have to bring back to Becket in order to pass this mission in which you have to make profit for him? He gives me 10000 and i bring back 30000. In the walkthrough it sais that the minimum you can bring back in order to pass is 15000 and i give him 30000 and he tells me to do it again. What do i have to do?

And what is the personal money(wealth)? I always have 500 piasters. What is it?

You can play your own pirate story by starting the standard storyline as pirate,
then ignore the main quest and plunder at random.
No need for following the main quest and you've got random treasure quests to make things more piratey.
Also fun is to try a Stormy Start.

For Beckett, you need to come back with 15000 gold MORE than you had before he gave you the 10000.
Note that there was a bug in the file that made him require ten times more.
Captain Maggee fixed that though; see the Alpha 10 thread.

For the wealth, please refer to the Build 11 ReadMe in your game's buildinfo subfolder.

What does Stormy Start do apart from losing your ship and making you make money in order to buy a new ship and continue with the main story?

Well as for Beckett, i had some money but after failing the first time, he took all of them and gave me 10000. So i only had 10000 at first. I returned to him with around 30000 from trading and he said that he needed more! From what you say, it's like i had 0 without the 10000 he gave me and i brought him back 30000. It's twice the amount i should have given him.
How do you explain that?

Sorry but i can't find anywhere in the Build 11 ReadMe the thing about personal wealth. I only have 500 piasters personal money and i don't really know what they are for. Can't you briefly explain it to me?

It makes you down and out... on a possible enemy place where you might have to fight your way through jungles or even sail a badly damaged ship to a friendly port to get repairs or crew (as if the place is enemy they are quite likely not to help you)

Did you download the fix to the dialog that I have done that Pieter told you about?
A new game is NOT required but this fix is (unless you want to have to earn 150,000 instead of 15,000 :yes

You can donate some, or all, of your personal wealth to the party if times are lean; just hit F2 then click donate and choose the amount. Note that once you donate, you can’t get it back (at least until you’re paid for that month, or you divide the plunder). Note that difficulty level, as above, increases the size of your salary or the size of your share, a small recompense for a harder game.

It is a single file... not a fix file... So download the latest fix and then find the Cutler Beckett_dialog.c file and extract that to PROGRAM/Storyline/LegendJackSparrow/dialog
