Solved The Life of a Sea Battler - Were to begin

nankura

Landlubber
Hey guys

This question also apply's to Caribbean Tales - just since its both games im asking about, i thought id ask here

For a long time i have constantly tried to get into this game, i love the idea of it, i love the idea of port battles. big ships, what is mostly fun to me. is sea battle, rather than land, or trading goods, or that sort of lifestyle. everytime i try. i am set back by trying to find a quest, were to begin, what to kill and how to survive in a sea battlers lifestyle

I am aware that this game is a trade/survival/explore type of game, and nothing gets handed to you on a silver platter.

Now my problem is, where to begin. when i start a character, i am plopped in a town, ( in Carri tales quests had quest markers above there head ) , with npc's mostly giving some tutorials. and then no idea were to go from there.

I manage to find travel quests, "pickup so and so in such days" "deliver this in such and such days", but i just cant find anything that gets me into the fighting side of the game.

I just need some guidance to get my life started in the game as a battler. and eventually a pirate ( i know u can start as one, but id rather start good and turn evil later :D for my own personal story )

And ofcourse making money through battle seems abit troublesome to. i never know what goods to pickup from ships, what i need in my hold to sail, whats necessary items when your out at sea

Give the assassin story line on POTC new Horizons A Go :)

Man, AoP 2 CoAS is the best game in my opinion. If you add the Gentlemen of Fortune Mod, this game is even better. I've played POTC, POTC CT, so far and now I play AoP2 with GOF mod. This game is awesome, because that mod adds many ships, etc.

I recommend to choose France, because they haven't got too many enemies and it's a good option at the beginning.
Now I change my citizenship and I work for England - they have got interesting missions and after finishing the quest-line England hasn't got war with Spain and United Provinces.

Do you want it...? :wp

HOW!, also pieter. do you have any idear why whenever i board a ship on POTC, i cannot leave the battle, even when all oponents are defeated, the icon show's up to go back to see but nothing i can do will let me leave the ship boarding battle .

I'm not at all sure what is and isn't in GoF; haven't exactly been keeping up with that.
Hopefully someone else can tell you.

I have not played GOF in a year, so have a fuzzy memory. The best way to start the game IMO is to visit a merchant and get a trade mission. That will get you going. Also, talk to the town folk. Just don't be too aggressive early on because you are at the bottom of the food chain.

The Surprise is there in one form or another. There have been many Surprises over the years.

Earlier in the game, just do an escort mission from tavernkeeper, trade mission from shop merchant, and governor random mission, and maybe smuggling for a better profit but beware of patrol, patrol in land is better than in the sea. You can bribe the patrol officer. Try to get navigator and treasurer in earlier game, treasurer with basic and advance commerce will make the goods price and profit better (buy cheap, sell high ). Maybe you should play card game or dice game on the tavern/residence or do moneylender quest to increase your luck. When your luck is high, there's a chance you'll find a better random item like in the shore, jungle, or chest and you can sell it.
In later game, you'll find this game will be easy to play. You can be evil plundered any trade ship or attacking every town and take it for yourself. Or you can be a good man by doing Governor-General line quest or do an action that will make your reputation increased.

Nankura.... seems you are only playing Caribbean Tales, unfortuney AoP1 was an incomplete game.... but if you have COAS thats another story!... is a wonderfull game, with a lot of quests, and a lot more if you install GoF.
