two weapons fighting could it been possible in POTC

I got idea about two swords fighting in POTC Build Mod or one sword and dagger. I seen in many adventure movies that type of combat (expecally one rapier sword and dagger) I personally think thaz this been nice combat addon. I take it you mean including an animation for one blade in each hand? Not likely to be possible. Best we could do is quickly swap between the two weapons in the same hand, similar to the functionality of the current quick-equip keys.
 
or just to make lokator on other hand, where dagger will show... an use the same animation... only just he wont use daggers in fight, but still...

But then how's he gonna use his pistol ?

Mightbe chose, 2 weapons (bonus to melee, or critical or smth like that) or weapon plus pistol...
 
Ok say it's a gun, a 'daggerpistol'. Pressing the shoot pistol button will make the player do one 'hit' and immediately take down his dagger again. A very short 'reload time' and he's ready to stab again. The problem is to detemine if he has hurt anybody?

But then that 'daggerpistol' would work more like 'pistol' than a 'dagger'. Its range should be set to minimum as well so player couldn't 'shoot' to people on distance (yes, main character could throw dagger, but we do have throwable knife in game already). Anyway, that still feels like a scabrous subject...

Wonder if a very short pistol range stops character from drawing the 'gun' or firing it or doing any damage. I've tried a little with 2 blades and it LOOKS good, best was when blocking with an short axe (blade hand) and stretching out the left (gun hand) with a sword. It's maybe too strange to sheath the blade after every hit though.
 
Check what Sir Christopher Mings did with his Skull character model: he added a bunch of additional guns to the model. They don't actually work, but they look cool. Possibly something like that could also be done with a second blade/dagger?

Yes I THINK on fighting with two melee weapons (one in each hands)...

pistols are good vs one enemy but when you have boarding fight vs numerous enemy's pistols is not usuful <u>against it such as two swords </u> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" />

yes I agree to add special requisition for two melee combat (professional fencer skill) for using it.
 
The Skull model is not in the Build yet, but it's on the FTP.

As far as two-weapon fight: perhaps we could add a button to switch from your pistol to your second "gun-blade" and back. The "gun-blade" would be a gun with an extremely short range like Jack Rackham suggested. That's probably the best that can be done. It'd be weird, but it'd work. That way you could just fire your gun on the beginning of the boarding, then grab your second blade and use that in close combat as a gun. You'd probably still see smoke though... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />
 
wouldn't work. or maybe it would, but in a different way. for instance, you still draw your gun if the enemy is out of range, but you simply miss. however, the gun-drawing animation could pass for a slashing motion, so it would look allright. but you're also right about the smoke. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> although, throwing knives don't have this.
 
Indeed, being able to help you with a dagger would be a good thing - but the question is, what difference will there be with a normal spacebar-blade attack? Surely this kind of attack, being 'a gun', wouldn't be blocable - but if that so, won't it hurt a bit playability and game ballance?

Anyhow, that would be worth a try.

Is it possible now ?

I have always wanted to see it in game, but after we discussed it back then I thought it wasn't possible or practical.
 
This thread is incredible. Lots of ideas in it, that the least we can say... Might be good to re-examinate it, and see what is still impossible, or not.
 
I'm pretty sure the smoke will not appear if that pistoldagger has no 'gunfire' locator.
 
Good point about the smoke; indeed the throwing daggers <i>don't</i> have it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

As for the animation: it's as impossible now as it was then. The only thing I think might be possible would be what Jack Rackham suggests: To make a gun that looks like a sword, give it a <i>very</i> short range and pretend that firing your gun is actually stabbing the enemy character. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />
