What you think about add Upgrade ships hulls, sails and cannons features at the shipyard such as AOP?

Possible ships, sails and cannons upgrades (my suggestion):

HULLS
Normal Wooden hull: no Bonus or Fire chance 10%
Copper Hull upgrade: Hit Points 10%, 5% less damage, fire chance –10%, ship speed and Maneuverability – 5% or – 10%
Bronze Hull upgrade: Hit Points 20%, 10% less damage, fire chance –15%, ship speed and Maneuverability – 10% or – 15%

SAILS
Normal sails: no bonus
Cotton Sails: 5% more ship speed and maneuverability; it takes 10% more damage
Silk Sails: 15% more ship speed and maneuverability; it takes 20% more damage

CANNONS
Copper-Iron Cannons: normal guns with medium/high chances for explosion
Bronze-Iron Cannons: -25% explosion probability/chances for explosion, 10% more damage, 5% greater fire range
Full Iron Cannons: -50/-60% explosion probability/chances for explosion, 15% more damage, 10% greater fire range

Now we must find right costs/prices for these upgrades…
Ahoy!

actually, more of a way to actually put it in the game at all. and personally, i'd think silk sails would greatly decrease the vessel's speed because they would be silk RIBBONS in no time.

the plating is actually against hits below the waterline and woodworm. it's only applied to just above the waterline and downwards.

There actually IS a customize ship mod that was made for the Pre Build 13 version by KBlack, but it was never put in to prevent additional bugs that might occur. Now some code has been rewritten and the mod is not readily compatible anymore. I still have the files, so hopefully one day somebody can put it into Build 14 after all.

The funny thing is, copper and bronze hull would actually increase speed of the ship. You might want to rephrase that to "copper armor" or something

Also, taking example from AoP, we should tone down chance of cannon exploding. Waaay down

Aye the cannon explosions should be toned down in current Build mod too.

And yes that's right that metal hull would INCREASE the speed of the ship not to DECREASE it because metal hull slips/swooshes better on the water.

Yes you have absolutely RIGHT, Coper and Bronze armor upgrade sounds much better!

I originally think that metal decrease speed and maneuverability of ship because it have much weight then wood but I really don't know true about this things I'm not metallurgist...

So? Anybody willing to try and make that already-existing mod compatible with Build 14?
As for the cannon explosion chance: I like it if it isn't too uncommon, otherwise it would hardly have any impact on gameplay.

cannon explosions are currently just about right, i think. though maybe a little bit too high.

I have that KBlack code too, so I could look at it and try to incorporate it into my version.

Except ships in this time period did not have armor, nor copper nor bronze. Armor plated ships was a thing of the mid-late 19th century. Ships hull durability instead depend on the type of hull, wood and thickness.

Also ships would never have been bronze plated, as Kazeite said it would increase the speed because it would prevent barnacles from and growing on the hull which would increase the drag, and it also served to protect against shipworm.
Copper is extremely toxic to both freshwater and marine invertebrates, which is one of the reasons they recommend that saltwater aquarists NEVER use copper based medications.

That'd be nice.

i might have to adjust that date you mentioned a little. though i know little of that in particular, i DO know that the victory used copper plating in the battle of trafalgar, which was in 1805.

I think youve misunderstood. The Victory was indeed copper sheathed, but she was by no means armor plated.
Like i said, it wasn't until sometime in the mid-late 19th century that ships started to become "armor plated" to any degree.

So, what, are we going to develop option B, then? (which is, no armor increase, but speed increase instead? )

I think we should start on developing option C first: Putting ingame what we already have (see attached). KB_TuningShips_alpha_1.1.zip ( 289.49K ) : 1

Update: Pirate_KK has been working on adding the KBlack Shiptuning mod into the game. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

I managed to incorporate KBlack mod into PotC but didn't make a proper interface yet.

Oh well; as far as I know it works without interface and through dialog anyway, so that's not so bad. The interface would be nice, but it can wait. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Maybe once we have the existing mod working, we could adjust it, and make it so certain upgrades are only allowed in some time periods, etc.

Probably not too hard. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />
