Rico, it'll be at least a week, and I don't know if that one will ever be done. If you look closely you can see "anomalies" along the length of the hull due to the shape of the model. It depends on the angle of the light as far as I can tell and isn't nearly as prevalent as this example shows, but under the right circumstances it is there nonetheless. A lot of the ships in the game are overly ornate (in my opinion) to hide those shortcomings.

You can see what I mean in this screen shot. In the end you simply have to wonder if it's worth the candle, since you have to compromise to such an extent that you end up with something other than what you wanted or intended.

Rico, that is a good idea if it is possible. Maybe it could work like changing Hawk's clothes in the tailor shop.
 
Hey Rico. I can release the one on top, at least I can hide some of the models faults by using that black "strake" down the middle. Lot of work to do getting the planking half right though, so it'll be a little while. I personally prefer the one on the bottom, but I had to abandon that project a long time ago for the reason I gave above. When the sun is either directly ahead of you or behind you, the "anomalies" become painfully apparent. There just ain't no way I can live with that one.

If it is of any help to you for your coding, we'll be adding a manowar, a corvette, a brig, and another lugger if you wish. And we've still got that schooner. I don't know if you ever added that one or not.

Just what ships with the game as far as I know. I have no idea what these guys have done with the code and the game in the last year or so. I'm still doing things the old fashioned way and using a mod that I've messed with since the beginning. Us old guys are fossils. Or antiques. Depends on how you look at it I suppose, but it sure is hard keeping up nowadays!!
 
Nuh uh. Nope. I'll prolly get around to it someday, but I just ain't interested in quests and all that Eroll Flynn stuff. Rather be on Halifax Station circa 1812. Truth is I've done so much work on the ships, ship stats, encounters and trade routes etc., that I'd hate to have to `re-learn` how to incorporate it all again.
 
Great! Rafe as soon as I can get the skins I can begin to write the code. No I can make an old build version or a build 11 version for whoever wants it.

Just curious, is it posible to make that your new skins are added as new ships instead of overwriting original ones?, so ingame we would have available the original ships, plus extra ships with your skins. I've seen them in the shipyard but not at sea

Thanks Admiral. Wish we could use the other one too, but this model just ain't up to it. As for the water, I don't know, just the angle of the sun or the way the sceenshot froze the motion? A lot of them seem to come out that way for some reason.

Hello again nachinus! My friend and partner in crime, muddymonkey, will do the code to make these available in Build 11, giving you more ships without overwriting the originals. I'll also release them separately for others who might wish to use them.
