What I would like to see in the new Builds

Rad: If you use something like WinMerge on your old BS.h and the build's new one, you can quickly import your old changes.

Grimm: That's an option too, actually (mode 2, vs. mode 3 for hide ships and 1 for hide nation of all but pirate--and 0 for stock show all).
But again, the boal_map thingie wasn't changed, but I can add a toggle there too.
EDIT: Toggle added. Three mode: no info, group type, and grouptype+nation (default).

What I mean is grab the program WinMerge ( <a href="http://winmerge.sourceforge.net/" target="_blank">http://winmerge.sourceforge.net/</a> ) and install it.
Then, when you want to upgrade the build, copy your old BuildSettings.h file somewhere first.
Then upgrade.
Then open WinMerge.
Drag your old BS.h onto the WinMerge window.
Then, in the second row (the filename box there will be blank) hit browse and choose the new build's BuildSettings.h file.

Then, use either using the buttons or keys (alt-uparrow, alt-downarrow) you can skip to each difference.
If the difference is in terms of a setting--i.e. 1 in the old and 5 in the new, copy the old one over (alt-rightarrow). If the difference is that it's a setting that the old file doesn't have at all, then go to the next difference.
When you get to the end of the file hit CTRL-S to save.
There, you've just quickly copied over your old settings!

Nathan, when will be released something new? I don´t know If I can proceed further or not. Anyway, there is several bugs in this current version B12.1 + MP, so that I won´t hesitate not a moment if new version will bring something new, good, improved and repaired. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/type_1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":nk" border="0" alt="type_1.gif" />
 
Something under the build name? I dunno.
I've been pretty lax in that realm I'm afraid, working on new stuff and not committing stable things to the codebase...
If you want to try something new, you can grab the pre-release I've just put up; it doesn't have CCC's random locations, though Pieter's already merged them in (I'm just slow updating).

hey all.i am new to these forums..
but i have a good idea: why cant a new build have the flying dutchman that really goes underwater....and of course the pearl as well....it would be nice......or it would be nicer if we had these things in an online game where u start as a worker in a vessel then become an owner of ur ship till u make enough exp and money to get the pearl or the dutchman... wt do u think guys?
 
pearl excists, dutchman too, can't make them dive (not yet at least), and we're trying to find out if we can get the game to work online.
 
i have an idea, but im not sure if its moddable- when you moor, there should be an option to remain on the ship, but moored...
also, there should be an option to drop anchor, this would greatly improve realistic properties for the game, and besides- its so annoying haveing to keep turning until you stop to board a surrendered ship, or in storms at an island, where you drift (in real life anchors woul dhave been dropped, the tiller supported with some giant piece of word (can remember the name), all the hatchways tied down, the decks cleared etc...)
 
i already suggested the second idea several times, and the first one already excists since b14a6.
 
I looked at the original post of this topic and it looks like a lot of the requests have been filled.

I haven't tried any of the build 14 stuff yet, but there were two improvements that I think were nice ideas.

1. extending the quests with marrying the governor's daughter. Rad suggested being able to build a house (you can already do this) and even have kids (I don't know about this one). He had a great idea where pirates may kidnap your wife. You could either pay the ransom or go butcher the pirates. And also, there could be an event where if you marry more than one woman, the old wife will leave you and try to get back at you through things such as bounty hunters and stuff. The new wife may even leave you if she finds out you were already married.

2. extending the use of the ship's cabin. I liked the idea of being able to sleep in the cabin instead of the tavern. Things like that would really help to strengthen the feel that you are the captain of a ship. The build mod has already done a lot, but I think more crew management stuff would be welsome too. Perhaps randomly, there will be an event with your crew like a quarrel between two sailors or something. You can decide the punishment and such. Of course the better quality your crew, the less likely negative things happen. There should also be positive random events with the crew, but I don't know what they would be though.
 
i fully agree with that.

how about a duelling contest to boost morale? better still, boost defence and melee.

morgan terror, do you mean that you could hold dueling contests between crew? That would be cool. Maybe there could also be automatic drilling. The crew could practice firing the guns and stuff and your cannons and accuracy and sailing would get better little by little. Of course this would take a certain portion of your powder and ammunition stores everyday and would be done automatically so that you would see the results in the top left of the screen each time a day goes by. Of course, you could always chose to stop drilling and then start drilling again later.

What do you think of new tarvens? And Tarven fights? It would be cool... have you seen Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead`s man chest...they were in tortuga...and that fight ruled <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> . Any comments?
 
as for mazz, already excists.

and duelling between the crew could be nice, but i initially meant fighting with you. you could of course hold an entire tournament.
 
It exists? Somthimes... i have noticed...
But what do you think about new tarvens...more new people and stuff? Smuglers, Pirates, and some other lads.
By the way i saw Mr. Gibbs in Tortuga, i hired him...he is a exellent navigator <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
 
well, all the people that should be in the tavern are already there. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> i can't imagine who else could be added.
