What I would like to see in the new Builds

Rad:
I'll check with MOW_Gub and see; I must admit I hardly ever play the game, so I can't really tell you whether it works for me yet. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />
Regarding destroyable guns, and other such complications. Per some thread (inventory?) we're thinking about going to multiple default BS.h files (or better yet a program to handle configuring the build, with multiple schemes) so that there can be a "swashbuckling" default as well as a "realism" default.

Pieter, the sails are a little wrong especially at the mizzen. And she practically sailed with 4 squared sails on every mast even though I saw some picture with five sails.

A beautiful ship, but for my taste _far_ too modern, as almost all self- modelled ones <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> . I don´t know what it is about all that 18/19 century stuff <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Yes, it is really quite modern already, she was finished in 1797, but all schooners in the game are modern the same way because schooner is a typical ship design from the beginning of the 19th century, at lest I read it in some professional book. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

<!--`QuoteBegin-NathanKell`+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(NathanKell)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Very nice!
I had forgotten she had a gaff topsail...
Is she also in the 50k range? And how's she done for textures?[/quote]She's the highest poly model available for Virtual Sailor. As for textures: Don't know what I should say about that. About the same as the Santissima Trinidad, I suppose. You can download both her full version (including interior) and `interior-less` version from <a href="http://millenniumdock.bravepages.com/Pages/`VS-Boats`.htm" target="_blank">http://millenniumdock.bravepages.com/Pages...-Boats`.htm</a>

Hi, Catalina. Thank you for your interesting website about history of photography. As I could read there the practical and usable photography started in 1822. So that this photo could be made even in that year. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Nathan, did you discover anything about MOW_gub by yourself? Does she appear for buying in your game or not ? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Rad: with my FillShipsList() edited to be like the one I sent you, yes, MOW_Gubs appear... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Nathan it´s better information for me than if you would tell me you don´t have it in your game and you don´t know why. Something apparently mixed up in my game and after the next installation probably everything will start working as usually. So, I would like to ask when do you plan to release something a at least partially new ? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

About Rad's photo of the Constitution - that one was taken in 1871 during her refit, hence the `planked-in` beakhead. The figurehead is also a late addition and is of Jackson. While most Americans will know of her successes against British ships few will know that when she ran aground on her way back from Paris in 1877 it was the British who recovered and repaired her at Portsmouth dockyard before sending her on her way back to the US. I think she is a museum ship based in Boston harbour now ?

Rad: Pretty soon (I hope). I've been kinda busy with new stuff--Itemtrading mostly, and the various fixes that's lead me too--so I haven't done much merging of stuff into the 12.2 branch.

But I think the general plan (assuming everyone agrees), is to:
Real Soon Now:
Release the 12.2 update, which will not require a restart.
Release 12.99, an "early adopters' version" of b13, which will have mostly just 12.2's codebase but be ready to upgrade to 13. This _will_ require a restart.

When It's Done:
Build 13 full, which will require a restart for those who have not used 12.99.

Rummy, it´s interesting information. How do you know that this photo is just from the year 1871? It seemed to me it was about from those times.

Nathan, thank you for you information. I don´t know if I will resume in this game or I will go over to version 12.99. Do you know what important new will be in this version? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

Not really, I'm still throwing in more code, and so are others.
And this is all contingent on discussion and agreement all 'round, of course...
At the very least, it'll have the A&M islands Screwface ported, I should think (since they require a restart, or at least probably do). Probably also the `item-trading` code. Everything in Pieter's modpack, almost certainly.
And anything else we get done by then and can toss in, as usual. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Question to Nathan Kell:
What mods can I try to make/finish for the next update? Some things I'd like to see:
- Weapons be put back into the weapon's locker after boarding (CCC)
- Gunsmith ability for blacksmiths
- Great weapons as reward from the governor
- Bugfix: Can get a reward for a `sink-pirate`-quest from a different governor than from who you take the quest
- Bugfix: Officers also follow you in one particular part of the Falaise de Fleur town
- I might try and see if I can attach an extra room to your ship's cabin
- Maybe I can think of some other stuff later

Anyway: Please tell me what you could use my help with and I'll try and see what I can do.

What about the destroyable cannons we talked about? And, maybe, the "empty" worldmap? That would be really neat.

Empty? Without islands or without ships? The without ships part ahs already been coded.

Rad - the Constitution photo is in the collection of Mark Lardas who wrote the volume American Heavy Frigates `1794-1826` in the Osprey Publishing, New Vanguard series. I guess the photo is dated in an inscription on the back - it appears in that book with that date.

Rummy, it´s good to know this information. At least we know with certainty now it is really Constitution. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Mates. I am very looking forward to some new islands and quests. I hope in extending of the current world and map. I think it wouldn´t be good thing for the future if the new islands would be added somewhere among the current ones. Archipelago would stayed quite little and there would be probably somehow tightly here in the future. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

Dunno if this has been posted allready, but why is the blacksmith in douwesen? I gotta walk threw the jungle now to get to em without my ship gettin blown to bits by the fort. My point, could the blacksmith be placed at QC in the next build or could there be more then 1? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Hathi, the blacksmith mod has been far improved, and one given to every nation - with a store!--by Alan_Smithee. It's available right now in Pieter's modpack.
