What new build mods would you like to see added next?

tcmbmnc

Sailor Apprentice
Well,

Now that build 12 is out, and I am loving every minute of it, so much so I think I am going to get out the ole bottle of rum to enjoy my expericne pirating the carribean tonight. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

What are some of the mods you would like to see added, and any new ideas for what could be added?

As for me, I would love to see new islands added, (as well as the islands from the origional, I noticed some other mentioning working on such a mod or at the very least discussing it)

** any modders out there, I dont think i noticed anyone with this idea, but would not adding a new weapon, "Brace of Pistols" BE a good idea? The icon in the inventory could be 2 or more pistols on a belt. The pistols could be single to quad barrled. The stats could remain the same as the other pistols, with the reload time being the time of all pistols in the brace. Many piartes of the day went into battle wearing 2 or more pistols. I believe Blakbeard carried a brace of 6 into battle, if I remember correctly, but I am probably mistakern on him wiht that many. lol You really would not have to change the animation much. if at all, though I would assume the brace of p;istols should all be the same type, that would elimnate changing the firing animationl.

If you did add in a gunsmith (which is another idea i like), he could have an option to create a brace of pistols out of pistols in your inventory.

It is actually being worked on by the groop of moders from the community that formed a dedicated team known as the PMT to work on this project.

Please stay tuned for an update and progress thread that will be opening in the following days at www.piratescrossroads.com.

The PMT project will be thus sharing its progress with ALL the community, aswell as gather feedback from ALL the community.

We are all one big happy familly anyways!

Cheers!

That's a most welcome move <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" /> I am sure that it will put new (additional) life into the modding community. ( No kidding, I swear <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> )

Cheers to DS and the PMT <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Brace of pistols: I was thinking of that too; I wanted to create a threesome of finely crafted little handguns simply by using a normal pistol model and increasing its shots to three. And then the reload time would have to be triple that of a regular `single-shot` gun.

I have bum luck adding new items, though. I always do something that ruins my game.

I'm also still waiting to see if anyone stumbles on a way to add muskets.

Glad I am not the only one who thinks a brace of pistols would be an interesting concept to be added into the game. Thanks for the input.

I've seriously wanted to give this whole build thing a try, and maybe get some thorough enjoyment out of the potentially great game POTC, but I can't get Build 12 to work on my uk english game. That's the only thing I want... support my version.

Hey Alan Smithee,

For adding Items there is information here:

<a href="http://robotsdontbleed.com/wacko/wakka.php?wakka=AddingNewItems&v=tfo" target="_blank">http://robotsdontbleed.com/wacko/wakka.php...gNewItems&v=tfo</a>

I don't know if you visited the wiki yet, but it was originally proposed by Scheffnow, and a Common Decision of the PMT to put in place, and Verruckt steped forward and made it a reality as well as graciously hosting it now for all of the community. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

It is everyone's hope ithat it will grow as much as possible!

Many other interesting things ranging from Tutorials to Tools (official and Fan made).

Hope it helps, enjoy! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I'm at the image/stats stage now...

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v251/alan_smithee/pistolbrace.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Here's a poor graphic of the reskinned model `in-game`.

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v251/alan_smithee/pistolbracemodelingame.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

I'll look at the sticky and try and add it, though I still need to get B12... And I've succeeded on the `out-of`-`the-box` game, but the Builds change all this, right? I've seen the Wiki before, it's helpful, but is it up to date?

Wow Allen,

That is amazing. God I wish I knew how to do graphics modding. I might eventually figure out the coding lines for POTC, but I really dont have the time to spend on it.

I would love to see something like this brace of pistols get added into the game <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Now if we could only get a gunsmith.

And the bottom of the readme in the buildinfo folder has more info on adding items to build 10 and above (11 and above?).

But also the weaponsmod changes things, so you'll have to add duplicate entries, one standard in the big gun define blocks, and one `one-line` define further down in the n = AddGun() lines.

Salut <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

You make a good point there about the Wiki, however there are Stock Game Sections and Build Sections.

Many things are Updated in terms of Tutorials, however with the Build changing and being streamlined and improved at every pass, you are right it may not be Build 12 Updated yet.

This is something the Build Inceptors, may or may not wish to do, but I know all the community would be greatfull if the wiki was updated in that regard.

En passant, si tu est vraiment a Mtl, sache qu'on viends de la memme ville <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

There sort of is a gunsmith now... RobC designed a basic blacksmith interface that a lot of people built on, and I thought one of them added or was going to add the fixing and designing of new guns, too.

Trying to add new weapons with the weapons quality variation mod was over my head the last time I tried it. I just couldn't get it to work. I could try again... But coding really isn't my strong point. Before I submit myself to the frustration, does anyone want to volunteer? I could just send you the model and graphics files I whipped up.

Alan, that sounds great!

Post em here, I am sure someone can pick em up and take it from there <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

(Sent you a PM, Duke. Since these are gm and .tga.tx files, I thought it best to email you, so I need an address.)

On the topic of the Wikis, I went over CCC's location cloning business again last night, but wound up SOL. I just couldn't get the new reload locators recognized, so upon entering a new area I'd either float in place or the screen's all black. Eventually, with enough tinkering, I managed to get the whole game not to start at all, requiring a full uninstall. And reinstalling is always a pain with my lousy computer.

Alan,I've been play'n wid CCC clone'n tutoral, maybe post yer code so we can take a look at what yer try'n te do mate, maybe we can 'elp ye out <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

New islands or the old ones would certainly be a great addition! Dual pistols too. I read in another post about changing clothes without changing the face. I think that would be great as I really like some of the clothes (spanish armor and the admiral uniform) but I dont like the heads that come with them.

One thing that would be great for the new islands is under reefs and hard to navigate places, we have the skill "sense fairways" but have you every really used it? I surely cant think of anywhere there is dangerous reef.

You're talking about CCC's location cloning? Man, I had a blast with that last night. I'll tell you all about it in another post.

As for this, my problem is with graphics...

Can anyone explain to me just what parametres I'm supposed to set for saving tga.tx's? I only ever have a problem with those little pictures in menus with a flash effect behind them; I'm doing something wrong and they don't show up at all. Normally I choose DXT 1 and no mip maps, and that gets me no problems for model skins.

Here are the choices I am overwhelmed with every time I want to save a .dds in PSP:

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v251/alan_smithee/crap.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

(And I know some Wikki I read once says DXT3 with boxy mips, but that didn't seem to do it.)

Merci.

I don't know what dds is, but with txconverter you can go directly from tga to tga.tx, and it usually works.

I thought I'd always needed to convert to .dds so I could read them in a graphics editor, like PSP. I didn't think there was another way to edit them.

There's a difference between tga.tx and tga? I hadn't noticed files of two different types..

TGA (aka "Targa") is a standard image file format, like TIFF. Just about any image app should be able to open TGAs, though Photoshop 7.0 has a bit of trouble with the alpha channel (fixed in 7.01 and CS).
