Where are my cherished ships

Rad

Privateer
Although I have all the conditions set in order all the ships was in shipyards available there are no Manowars - the pride of all ships here. I can´t even buy this nice light beige Battle ship anywhere whis was so common in the past. What did you do with these ships? You removed them from the game? If yes, so why????? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

Isn't there already a topic on this, mate? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

No ships were removed from the game. All ships still sail the seas and you should be able to capture any of them. Not sure about the ships being available from the shipyards. For all I know, with the Realistic Ship Purchase mod off, you should be able to buy any ship from the shipyard again. Not sure though. IncredibleHat made a lot of changes and I don't know exactly what he changed. He might have made class 1 ships to hardly ever be available. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Why let you do one such formely completely uknown man do such drastic changes??? In shipyards they aren´t any these great ships available anymore. Why such formely unknown modder can do such cardinal changes? It seems to me any of self-constituted modders can do whatever they want. When I listen to it that you don´t know about such important matters my blood is boiling and I have tendency to abandon this game forever but I can´t do that because I like this game very much. But you can´t wonder very few good old pales aren´t here anymore.
I am only player or tester and I don´t give a hoot about in what category you have me at your imaginary list of deserving people but I have devoted hundreds and hundreds hours to playing this game again and again and finding various bugs so as the game was better. And nobody never ask me Rad what do you think about that or what would you want in the game. How could you let almost completely erase anybody´s great work with such stupid deciding about removing MOWs from shipyards? How do you want to call old good modders and mates so as they returned if their great work isn´t in game anymore and instead of that we have now myriads of useless variations of low class ships that could be reduced to half number and nobody would even recall after short time that such ships ever existed. Isn´t is sufficient for those who don´t prefer MOWs and all 1 class ships to use RPG mod where these ships are hindered sufficiently and are rare and for another people who likes them and set option for all ships available so as they would be there? It is as prefering one group people before another group of people. I always think that game will be wending the way that I will be having 3 -4 MOWs and will take a quest from a friendly governor so as I conquer another hostile island with heavy armed fort and town as it was the case in Sea Dogs and I hope it will be in AoP again. But for that you need badly such powerful ships as Manowars. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

Rad, It is very disappointing that you would talk bad about any of the modders who have put so much work and energy into making this the best pirate game available. If you want Man-O-Wars, simply change the buildsettings to take off the setting that blocks the sale of class 1 ships. I don't know what version you are using, but it is very simple to do in the Beta2. Look for this code:

#define SHIPYARD_SELL_ALL_CLASSES 0 // type=bool, desc="are shipyards limited to selling only certain classes of ship, based on town size (see STORE_MINSIZE, below, in Town Constants"

And change it to "1"

If that doesn't work, change this code as well:

#define SY_RPG_STYLE 1 // 1: Shipyards will not sell outclassed ships to low level players

Change this line to "0"

If you are still not happy, go into the internalsettings and change:

#define STORE_MINSIZE 1500 // type=int, min size for a store to be considered large. Used currently only to tell what class of ships a shipwright can sell.

You can change the 1500 to a small number like 100. I did these changes and I was able to buy every ship in the game. It took me 10 minutes to figure it out, something you could do on your own without pestering the mods about. The way they changed it to is more realistic and fun IMHO, but this is what you need to do if you want to buy Class 1 ships.

Doober, maybe you didn´t understand me. I appreciate modders´work but I had to appreciate the work of older modders the work of which was in many cases very good and I think it should be preserve. But on the other hand I would like so as current new modders would appreciate players and work of older modders too. If it would be this way all the old good creative and inventive people they were here would be here but they aren´t. And to be modder should mean have a responsibility and prefer common good for the game above personal ambitions but sometimes it seems to me that it doesn´t work yet as it should work.

I think I have done everything what you suggest above about shipyards and no MOW ships are here. But one never knows, I will check it up again. And it´s good that you wrote IMHO. But for me, IMHO it isn´t good and amusing. So let anybody has one´s possibility to choose something or unchoose something. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Try changing this line in the buildsettings:

#define SHIPYARD_CHANCE_CLASS 8 // type=int, desc="default 8. Chance for a ship to be available is 1 in (this - ship class). So if this is 8, then a class1 ship has a 1-in-7 chance of being available. NOTE setting to 0 makes any ship always available."

Change it to 1 or 0

This increases your chances of for each class, you can alter this number to suit your personal taste.

I tried put here my adjusting but it doesn´t appear here properly. But I have all that you suggested adjusted too but no MOW are here. Are you paying this Build 13 beta version this time? Could you prove your statement that MOW and beige battle ship can be sold in any shipyard? Because in my game aren´t any for buying. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Why do I have quite often an impression here some people say only half of the truth and try prove I am the bigger asshole than I am in reality? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Well, if you're at war wih the brits, you could also change the #define MAXCOASTGUARDCLASS command value to one. It defines the maximum ship class coastguards are allowed...
I did so and in Redmond I saw a pirate Galleon from a safe distance being broke to pieces with one salvo form a MoW...
That was fun... And it'll save you 400K cause you wont need to buy this ship.

Rad, I changed my buildsettings and internalsettings exactly as I posted above and this is the result I got. I got this result by using the Beta2 install with nothing else changed other than the settings I mentioned to you. (Actually, I did have cheats enabled, but that has nothing to do with buying ships) The screenshot is of Oxbay shipyard.

F**K. I have nothing in my game. What is internal settings? If you mean that you unblocked this ships manually if they are blocked now in code somehow, so, that´s the issue and I think in this case it isn´t good. For common player it is the same whether these game are removed completely from the game or are only blocked somehow from appearing in shipyard. In both cases the can´t use them because either don´t any idea that such ships ever exist in game or they can´t enabling them. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

sure send it to thethreefates79@yahoo.com. Along with the buildsettings.h, send internalsettings.h, it is in the program folder along with buildsettings.h. Are you using Beta2 or Beta1? If it is Beta1, it may be part of your problem, I won't be able to test any Beta1 settings as I am using Beta2.

I am using Beta 1. I will send you my Build Settings.h. You know I never had to adjust anything in this internalSettings.h. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

If you don't adjust the internalsettings, only towns with a very high population will sell class 1 ships. I don't know what the population levels are in your towns, you could check them by talking to citizens I think. The internalsettings.h is like a secondary buildsettings.h, it has alot of variables that can be changed, most of them are just for tweaking, not for enabling or disabling mods.

Doober, you needn´t look into my BuildsSettings.h anymore. I resolved this issue by myself already. And as I wrote above all the 1 calls ships including Manowars were deliberately completely blocked for buying somewhere else. I removed this and I have them at last. But I was right in my statement. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Hi, Nosie. I would like to ask you if you ever have been using these great Manowars in the game. If not and if you would want to try them I could ask you how to do that if you wouldn´t know. They are really great. By my opinion the best ships in game so far. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

Could you please post what code you had to change to get the MoWs in shipyard.
That way others can benefit.
Pieter could also put it in the Buildsettings.h file as a more user friendly switch.

Just to let you know: Hook and IncredibleHat are the main reason why Build 13 will get released. If it weren't for them, we'd never even get close to a stable release. Also: There <i>were</i> toggles on all major changes: SY_RPG_STYLE and REALISTIC_SHIP_PURCHASE and all other settings that are used by the shipyard RPG mod.

Hi. Petros. I would do it but I am afraid that after I will write here that it could be proclaimed here it crap or cheat or something similar as was done in my case already. I would be interested in if they appear in your game after you set all necessary options in BuidlSettings.h for it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

Never mind.

So, after all my conditions for appearing all ships in shipyards were adjusted all ships appeared there but not any 1 class ships for buying. So, I went into file Ships_init.c.
In the cases practically all first class ships their is line
if (REALISTIC_SHIP_PURCHASE) refShip.CanBuy = false;
so that nothing bad seems to me in this line only that in my game still any of these ships weren´t in my shipyards.
So I commented all those lines
// if (REALISTIC_SHIP_PURCHASE) refShip.CanBuy = false;

So that I canceled using this conditions. And immediately all my ships appared in my Shipyards. Maybe it´s strange but it´s true. Anyway I prefer all those great ships to use. But have to adjust in my game yet so as more these ships would apper in game on oponent side. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

How can it be crap if it works for you?

Have you ever tried turning off REALISTIC_SHIP_PURCHASE in BuildSettings.h and starting a new game? That is the only mod I know that actually <i>blocks</i> the selling of Manowars and other navy ships, because it sets all of these ships to <i>CanBuy = false</i>, which makes sure that they will NEVER appear in shipyards, no matter what other settings you change. However, we deliberately added a BuildSettings.h toggle on that so it can easily be turned off.
