Will there be a clan mode?

1 player - 1 ship. So you better have 6-8 players at least if you want some fun.

Only one player per ship you say? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> That might be fun for a free-for-all type deathmatch, but it would be so much MORE fun with 1 TEAM - 1 ship: Helmsman, bow gunner, stern gunner, and a couple of gunners on each side! Also you would be allowed to walk freely about the ship until you grabbed a slot. This is what Battlefield: Pirates does and its a blast! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

That's what they're planning to do in PT-BOATS. But in AOP you just control your own ship like you do in POTC single player. Which of course can also be fun if you're a big fan of naval history and tactics and there is a community of clans battling for supremacy. But the whole concept of gameplay and the interface is so out of place - AOS will probably still be more suitable for that.

hm... the idea of giving points is exactly what i wrote them in a mail about a possible AOS3 (I asked why they don't take the stuff they already have, like ships, engine, and build a new aos-game).... It seems they read it and use some of it for MP, although they never answered.

But as they leave out some features, i thnk there is many left for modding.

To control a ship with more than one player might be out of reach, but mayby it will be possible to build in control of more than one ship, although it won't be easy to do so.

The problems of AOS and PB are: they are too old and still have a lot of bugs.
We play it in SL for years now, but the community is getting smaller. The few new recruits we get, can't fill up the lines. So a new game mayby mayby helps.

We started the try of making an own game, but we don't have the know-how (programming, moddeling,...) inside the community to get beyond the planning. That's the difference between a gaming and a modding community....

I asked them whether you can add your own skins, flags etc. They said that if you have a TX converter you can do it. So I guess it means that at least at the moment it is open for modding. Exactly to what extent -- I have no idea.

Ah, neat! Thanks. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
(They didn't happen to mention modded /code/ in MP, I guess?)
