Fixed [WIP] Merchants transformed into hybrid Navy/Merchant Captains

I dont know whats going on here. My save is correct, the save I downloaded from the tread is correct.
So I must say I realy dont belive what you are saying. And about Installing the game, Im a Master in
that, I have done it so many times, if I take them all maybe up to 100 times.

@ANSEL I'm really not doubting you at all, or saying you did anything incorrectly--but it seems both Levis and I loaded your save and had an advanced frigate, the HMS Surprise one, not the Xebec you see.

If @Levis and I are getting the same ship, I doubt the problem is on our end.

The logical conclusion is something is reading ships differently on your end.

If that is the case, it might also explain this "description of encounter doesn't match ships" bug. If your install is reading the ships as different than they should be, it could explain why you don't see merchant ships when you expect to.

Just trying to figure out what is going on. :)

@Levis Could this relay be the truth, do you have a Frigate and not a Xebec, when you installed my savegame? :shock

Very weird, I know! I even redownloaded the save and checked it a second time to be sure.

I would normally suspect it was my install that was bad, except Levis seems to get the same frigate as I do. I am sure we will figure out whatever is going on though! :)

Different people loading the same save get different ships?
I don't think that has every happened before! :shock

@Tingyun @Pieter Boelen @Levis
I think I have a possible explanation why this happens: I indeed have this Advance Frigate,
but a twister toke her down, it was near Isla de Muerta, so the lifeboat and and I sailed to
Vanderdecken, where I bought a Heavy Xebec. That's how it happens I think, odd anyway.

So maybe you accedently uploaded a older savegame?

I mean it also didnt have the merchant ship that surrendered as you said it would have.

You are both totally misunderstand this! The savegame is the relevant one. The ship surrender to
my Xerbec, and to this one only! I bought the Xebec just before I attack the group of Merchant.
:rumgone Ach mein gott, jah.

@ANSEL yes, that is correct, it is a naval light brig. So your install should be ok then. :)

Can we try this? Now that merchant ship captains should be fixed, you keep hunting them in your game, and if it happens again that you get all naval ships and no merchants when the thing reported "single merchant with escorts", then you save your game after capturing the ships involved, and upload that new saved game, together with a list of the ship types, both your ship and the AI ships you captured? :)

NO I dont upload an older savegame.
There is two ships arround, the one who surrender( if you look carefully it is mark grey in the
radar, so it have surrendered) and another a navy ship I think, marked red as an enemy, she
has not surrendered!

@ANSEL when I downloaded that saved game, you were sitting peacefully in a port, you were level 10 I think, and one of the most recent events was you had been branded a pirate. Does that sound like stuff that had occurred with the xebec, or with the frigate?

There are some weird things about the way saved games are ordered. For example, if you drop a saved game of your own that you redownloaded into your save directory, it will often appear as the most recent saved game, being moved from its original place where it used to be.

Well I dont really know, you have made me tired of this matter, and I dont know if
I want to report bugs or testplay any more ( not for a while then, I dont think I can
stop doing it, it has become an important and vital part of my life ) But I am really
F.... up now. I think you are forgetting I am a Veteran in this game, I have been
playing it for about 10 years now.

Well here is the savegame again. And a picture so you can see have it looks,
I see the surrendered ship most clearly! seadogs2_0000.jpg

@ANSEL you are taking offense when all anyone is doing is trying to help you figure out what is going on. I have been 100% respectful at all times, I think I mentioned I am not doubting you or your knowledge of the game 3 seperate times. Let me say again I have no doubt you understand the game fully, and better than I do by far. :) But nothing we have been discussing has much to do with experience with the game.

But I agree there is not much point in tracking the xebec frigate saved game confusion, as you do read the correct naval light brig from my save, so it is probably just an issue of which saved game like Levis suggested.

I think the best thing is to see if you encounter another escorted merchant ship encounter with only navy ships, and then upload a saved game with those ships captured.

@Levis @Tingyun
I beg you both pardon! It was a wrong save! ( August 6th should have been September 6th)
The one above is the right one.
So I crave forgiveness dear Sir's.

I couldn't see it clearly in your responds before now.

@ANSEL great! Don't worry about it, we all make mistakes. I messed up the cabinfight dialogue in the last update, and broke surrender dialogs for everyone for awhile! :(

Don't doubt yourself either, if you hit the escorted merchant being all navy ship bug again, be sure to upload it. It is only thanks to your playtesting that Levis was able to discover and fix the merchant surrender bug last night! :)
