What type of ships do you prefere most of the time? Basically the type of ship, fast, maneuverable, heavy guns, lots of cargo, etc...

i prefer frigates they provide the best balance i think, corvette also but not as much as they are a bit weaker than what i am looking for frigates have the best combo i think - firepower and maneuverability
 
Hmm, can't figure out how to edit the poll text, just to clarify, "Not overly cumbersome" is like between a frigate and a Batleship.
It should read <b>"A true warship of the line, but not overly cumbersome"</b>

Anyways, that's my choice, a warship and my other ships in the fleet be cargo, usually Spanish Galleons, or even MOW's. Well it works out that I have to do all the work in battle anywhoo! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Otherwise it's the sloop or corvette! I captured a corvette with my sloop, nice upgrade! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blah:" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

The Tartane is a blast, I sailed into Khael Roa with a Tartane, fun fun fun, rum rum rum, fun!
 
I'm a fan of the frigate - but it has to be the right one. I stole mine from the spaniards - a green one with a `mer-horse` figurehead. The first thing I love about this particular frigate is that, even with full sails, you can ACTUALLY SEE OUT THE FRONT! The fors'l doesn't come down so low as to block my vision when standing up front - which seems to be a rare quality.

The second thing I love is that this ship just seems to be lucky for me. When I sail it, I kick butt, even when alone. Without it, I can command a fleet of warships and somehow the enemy still runs circles around me. It's smarter to be lucky than it's lucky to be smart - so I'll take me lucky `mer-horse` frigate anyday over any of the "superior" ships out there.

Nice choice Bilgemonkey, have you tried the "Mefisto"? It's also known as "The Black Frigate" Now that is one swell frigate! Faster and more maneuverable than a corvette I'd wager! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock:" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" />

The reason I prefere the warship over the frigate is the lack of cargo space on the frigate, otherwise that would be my fist choice <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Thing is I board or sink alot of ships, then get the cargo, either from the hold, or floating on the surface if the ship has met Davy Jones locker <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p:" border="0" alt="pirate2.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />
 
Aye Fred Bob, a good choice der matey, I prefere the fast small ship till I board and capture a bigger one, me greed gets in the way of logic and dat, an, er aye end up with a big slow floating' fortress over tha slick sloop <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Unless I am looking for firepower, I really love my Xebec CT. Ideally, I'd have a MOW for cargo or firepower, and the Xebec CT for boarding. She's speedy and maneuverable, and actually has a pretty good cargo capacity.

If I want more firepower (or manpower) and speed, I'll take a corvette and couple that with a MOW. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
 
I'd be prefer'n de Gunboat,fer sea battles.Luv tew take de larger ships apart piece by piece an watch der cannon slashes at look 20 feet tall all around me as dey miss most of de time,an fight'n five deck levels tew capture it jest be tew much fun,me second choice would be a sloop <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
 
Well I'd say the Xebec counts as the "Fast and Maneuverable" like the Sloop or Corvette, I was going to give a seperate poll option for the Xebec, but really had nothing to go on except it's middle eastern.

By the way What does the "CT" stand for, pardon my ignorance and rum! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />


Skull When I start the game, I get a sloop as soon as posible, I love those! I even kept my sloop while having two or three other really big ships, but times called to upgrade and I had to capture a corvette and on and on... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/diomed.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dio" border="0" alt="diomed.gif" />
 
Admiral8Q, the Xebec CT was "skinned" (or textured) by yours truly. It's a Celtic design and is green and white with wood... Larger cargo and quicker than the BR. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="8)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

The bottom one is the Lugger CT, also mine (CT means done by CaTalina). It was the first skin I did. I am mighty fond of both ships. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

I don't know why you don't encounter them at sea, I haven't seen any at all - and they're supposed to be encounterable... ??? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

When I had them set up before Build 11, I was running into them all the time.

i use the meifisto (however you spell it) but then i got bored of it so i started using the other black and red frigate that is out there and i love it, i also like using sloops and schooners from time to time to add in varity <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate_plain.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p3" border="0" alt="pirate_plain.gif" />
 
i find my mephist be my mmain ship but i love a good xebec and gunboat now and then. by the way cat how fast is the xebec ct. cause i found a xebec br. with 19 knot speed and amazing manuverablity. on redmond
