Yer ships of choice!

I have a MOW layed up for a rainy day, but my current fleet consists of a frigate, corvette, sloop. I sail the sloop myself most of the time <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p:" border="0" alt="pirate2.gif" /> my frigate and corvette usually draw the attention so I can slip in on my sloop and board, plunder, steal their defecting crew and get out and watch my vette and frigate finish the fight off from the distance.

In the smaller faster ships you can really do some damage, my cannons reload almost instantly so I just shoot for the mast and can usually get it down before I ever get shot myself.

A MOW of His Majesty's Fleet is quite a good complement for my being a Viscount in the King's service. Plus a Warship tagged on for good measure.

Although i wouldn't say no to Tyrant III when she makes port <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" />

Mihail! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" /> Whar ye been hidin', matey? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

I agree, a good solid frigate can be an awesome force!! The "Sabers Apollo" remains undefeated, and much feared amongst the cheese eating surrender monkeys! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

And it's good to see you again, Mihail! Were have ye been hidin'? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

First of all, Cat I love your skins. As to ships, I look for a combination of speed, manuevablity, firepower, and cargo space. On these criteria I think the barrleship is best, especially if you are interested in taking down forts.

Frigates and Warships are also good.

Among smaller ships I like the Xebec.

Man o War equippedwith 32lb guns and a maxed out gunner/accuracy. You'd be amazed how far away you can effectively sink brigs in one shot.

When I feel like having fun, I give my other MOW to a generic officer, take a generic class 6 ship from my enemy, and then run up and board, hacking and slashing the whole way.

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> <b>Raerlynn,</b> and welcome aboard! Pull up a keg, have a seat, and have a couple on us! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

We're glad you found your way to these fair waters, and hope to see you here often! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

<!--QuoteBegin-Raerlynn+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Raerlynn)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->hacking and slashing the whole way.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->Heh, my kinda pirate!!!

I don't usually sink'em, but once in a while when I get the urge to "blow something up", I do it like this - I sail with a MOW and a smaller ship, usually a Corvette, but sometimes a Xebec... I will use the smaller ship as my flagship - and go to a governor for a "Pirate Hunting" mission. When the mission is requested and set, your opponent is based upon the flagship you are sailing at the time of the request... So... THEN I go to port, board my ship, switch over to the MOW, pop over to the cove where the pirate is lurking, and BLOW THEM AWAY... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Simple, but effective... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

Well build 11 sure makes them ships more, and more uniqe ships!

When I've had an especially trying day, I enjoy taking out 3 ships; me warship, the "Saber's Apollo", a frigate, "El Lobo del Mar", and a corvette, the "Zippy" <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> . I'll shadow a convoy at a respectable distance and sail to them. Once I've decided on me prize, I have me 2 support ships engage the convoy while I cut out me prey and chase them down. Raking the deck with a volley of grape usually convinces them to run. If that fails to convince them, I'll plunder and scuttle (or just sink outright) their ship and find a new prize to hunt. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

<!--`QuoteBegin-capt` cookie+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(capt cookie)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->i find my mephist be my mmain ship but i love a good xebec and gunboat now and then. by the way cat how fast is the xebec ct. cause i found a xebec br. with 19 knot speed and amazing manuverablity. on redmond[/quote] i hear ya! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blah:" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> its the best ship ever, so fast your eyes starts spining <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cheers.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="cheers.gif" />:

The Xebec CT is faaaaaster!!! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/diomed.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dio" border="0" alt="diomed.gif" />

My favorite ship overall has to be the Warship. I find I can take on the fastest ships to the most powerful ships. Before they were introduced to POTC, I liked the Battleship, but found them just a bit too slow, and if I recall correctly the next step down was the frigate, which I found a bit too small to take on a fleet of Battleships. The Lineship (Which is terribly ugly) and the Warship added a buffer between Frigates and Battleships. A perfect balance for how I captain me boat. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="8)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

I just looove the look of the Galleons the most though. The models are the most interesting, and most beautiful to watch in action! And I find they are the most `3-dimentional` ships in the game. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p:" border="0" alt="pirate2.gif" />

MOW's are good, but I find them a bit of overkill, For me they detract a bit from the challenge of the game. Still I may pick one up as a secondary vessel, just for the sake of it's enormouse cargo space. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
I think if the "`Sail-To`" abillity was removed for teleporting to a ship that could easily out run the MOW, it would be alot more realistic.

Of course early in the game can be the most intense, fighting with small ships <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Iggly,
Most of the shipbuilders carry the Xebec CT, check at the very end of the row of available ships, that is where I have found it when it is available. If it isn't available the first time you go to the shipbuilders, go back a few days later because they change the stock. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cheers.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="cheers.gif" />:

IIRC anywhere (it's equally random). But your best luck would probably be QC.
Just stay overnight in the tavern and try again until the shipyard has what you want.
