It already got through before you posted it. Been working on something that looks like a stable B12 update all day. Tomorrow I probably may not continue the work, but I'll try to do as much as I can before the end of the day. And I'll be coninuing Saturday again for sure.
BTW: What kind of new additions require a restart? Then I know I need to leave those out.

But isn´t it funny, Build 12 (the number 12 being the symbol of completeness and perfection) was "merely" an extension of B11 and the "unlucky"Build 13 contains all the really awesome new stuff that has been developed of late, like the islands, fleets, cannons and so forth.
 
Thanks, Pieter, I've asked several times and everyone has been a bit too busy (understandable) with all this new stuff (me too!) - I would TRULY like a nice stable version of B12.3 (2?) to assimilate my Animists quest fix into, and I KNOW there are folks out there who would love to try out some of this new stuff we've got going on without having to deal with betatesting. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

I don't know about the restart stuff - most people who are making their mods should know. I think it's if there are new items and new arrays and new characters (unless the characters are put in the reinit file).
 
Sorry, I've been in and out the last two weeks, and also (guilty!) "following my nose" so to speak with the various new mods.

You´re pretty much right, Cat, we´re developing at all conrers something, so it gets really confusing. How was it done with the old builds, by the way, before we had that online installer? By deadlines?
I see something else here as well, while we´re getting B12 bugfixed, we´re already pretty much into B13 regarding improvements and such. The question is, will all the bugfixing or new quests done for B12 (for example your animist quest fix) work in a B13 enviroment as well, or would they have to be developed specifically for B13?
 
Everything is forwards compatible SFAIK, or can be with very minor changes.
The only really radical thing in 13 is the fleets system, the rest is backend changes that shouldn't affect quests.
(Fleets might because they always get loaded in sea mode, and thus may disrupt a quest where there are quest ships. Same with CRs.).

First: What´s CRs <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> ?
And second: Are fleets now loaded in "coastal waters" as well? That is, if you leave a harbour in sailing mode, might it happen that you come across a fleet other than the coastraiders? I´m just imagining, leaing Redmont and seeing one of the "convoys" (really mean fleets, those, armed to the teeth) come up the horizon...
 
1. CRs = CoastRaiders, CCC's mod for coastal traffic.
The problem is that a hostile fleet may show up and sink a friendly quest ship.
(Or, of course, that combined with CRs and the fleet(s), there will be >32 ships and so some won't load).

2. Yup. Whenever you enter sea mode (from land or wdmap both!), your map position is checked, and any fleets nearby will be loaded.
 
ad 2: That´s cool, way of. Until now, the only way to get a fleet near an island was going to the worldmap and chase a fleet into close vincinity of an island. However, I´m not blindd to the problem there.

ad 1: Can´t we implement some sort of "priority" function, i.e. quest ships get loaded first? Or a fleet doesn´t spawn within a certain radius around any anchoring location, so that, even if an enmy fleet is there, it can´t attack friendly questships in time?
 
Quest ships are loaded first, yeah. So I wouldn't worry about it unless and until something goes wrong--there aren't _all_ that many fleets sailing around, anyway.
 
just a quick question... are there actually being made new cities to walk in, or is it the old cities that is gonna be copied onto the islands??
 
Cities are being made by location-cloning, I believe, so they'll be similar in look, but their lay-out may be different. And parts of different existing cities may be used for the new ones. Would be nice if we could do the same as the A&M Mod apparently does: Having the same model but with a different texture to make it seem not exactly the same.
