Any thing for a Photoshop Guy

Much better. Those reposted images actually LOAD. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
And the gold outline indeed looks better than the previous version.

Here's a screenshot with a potential new menu screen. I like the idea of using paintings rather than photos...it adds and old world feel.

And yes, I know I used a painting that features a steam supported sail ship. If it bothers you, I can remove it. I didn't notice the smokestack until after I took the screen <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />o)

<img src="http://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn364/captarbie/fixed_screenshot.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

EDIT: Screenshot fixed. That smokestack was bothering me.

That definitly does look nice, though indeed that smoke stack is just a tad bit out-of-place. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
Maybe you could do something similar with another picture? There's plenty on <a href="http://www.woodenboat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=80245" target="_blank">the page Bava posted</a>.

I'm not entirely convinced on the font used for the text; it looks kind-of thin in comparision with the other fonts used.
Perhaps we can leave out any text on the main menu images; after all, both the "Pirates of the Caribbean" logo and "PiratesAhoy! Community - BUILD 13.0 Update 3" texts are added through code.

I understand. I'm such a sucker for handwritten script fonts. I could find a thicker one for future use, or would you like me to use the official PotC font from the films for future work?

I dunno; I'd suggest try something and see what you like.
The font you used certainly is a nice one; I'm just not sure it fits here. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Here's a good site. if you see any you think would be good, let me know.

Very nice. Great work. But, I'm not a huge fan of the font. Like Peiter said, it's probably not needed anyway.

Bava, that's nothing.

<a href="http://www.gamewallpapers.com/getwallpaper.php?wallpaper=wallpaper_empire_total_war_02_1680x1050.jpg&currentwp=%2Fwallpapers%2Fwallpaper_empire_total_war_02&titel=Empire%3A+Total+War" target="_blank">This is what i use :p...</a>

<a href="http://www.gamewallpapers.com/wallpapers.php?titel=Empire%3A+Total+War" target="_blank">See...</a>

If you don't mind, i'll just like to add my own 2 cents.

<a href="http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h99/CSHM-PiratesAhoy/Loading-B4-2048.jpg" target="_blank">http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h99/CSHM...ing-B4-2048.jpg</a>

It's 2048 x 2048, did that in hope of reducing stretch, but for some gay ass reason, the game forces it to fit, "stretching" something so big, to my 1680 x 1050. All the pictures seems to be forced (by TXConverter) to be equal height and length, but the game forces you (unless you edit engine config) to play in the game in an un-equal resolution. I wish it would add black around the picture, rather than stretch. I'm not 100% happy with the text, bit too shiny and new maybe.
Thoughts?

Also, i've attached a new engine.exe, simple change, but tell me what you think.
Here's what it has:

<img src="http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h99/CSHM-PiratesAhoy/Startup.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Think it goes nicely with the white words that appear while loading.

Off topic i've created a 1024 x 1024 sail, it's a reasonably clean and new looking one, but not as much detail really as the clean/new sail currently in use.
I'll post a picture else where.

I would like to point out that the current menu screen does have text on it, primarily to fill empty space which was why I used it. I guess I thought that the build title seemed so small down there in the corner. I wanted there to be no doubt what the player was playing when he started the game <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Henry Morgan: Those are some good images.

It's funny you should say that. Because here's another one. No work involved really. Just enlarging and placing the image.

<img src="http://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn364/captarbie/screenshot2.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Figure this would be good for your "Blue Interface".

That chase picture does work wonders as main menu! I think I'd like to use that one for the blue interface.
Then perhaps we can use Captain Sir Henry Morgan's version for the brown interface.

Tip for making the main menu image: make it in an "ordinary" desktop resolution first, like 1024x768, then resize to 1024x1024 (or 512x512) afterwards.
That way the image will appear correctly in the game, though will look deformed in the TX Converter.

I also like Captain Sir Henry Morgan's splash screen; looks quite action-packed and atmospheric.
Maybe we should have the game title on it though.

We had decided on "Pirates of the Caribbean: New Horizons" for the Build 14 title (previous Builds didn't even <i>have</i> a title).
It would be nice to have that title added to the splash screen and main menu's.

I'm a little confused here. Resizing up from 1024x768 to 1024x1024 will cause blurring and pixelation of the image, though resizing down will cause it to be somewhat sharper. There is only one file so I assume you don't have a different image for each resolution. So what size would you like me to submit because the one on the screen capture is 1024x1024.

here's the image Henry Morgan provided with the new title. Good find there, captain.

<img src="http://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn364/captarbie/Startup.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Let's make it 1024x1024. So it's probably best to make the image in a higher resolution but with a regular desktop aspect ratio of 1:3 and then resize to 1024x1024, rather than resizing from 1024x768 up to 1024x1024. But it probably doesn't make that much of a quality difference anyway. Just make sure the image looks good ingame without distortion or harsh compression artifacts and it should be Ok. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

The original image was about normal desktop proportions. However, when re-sized over a 1024x1024 canvas in photoshop the loaded up in game, there was no real visible sign of stretching.

I have a pretty large monitor and it looks good on mine so I'm sure it'll look great for everyone else.

On second thought, I'm not entirely sure we should be using concept art from so recent a game; people might notice. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

True about the Build title being small; having a subtitle "New Horizons" below the regular "Pirates of the Caribbean" logo might nicely compensate though. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Indeed if it looks good ingame to you, it probably does to everyone else too. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Are you refering to the menu image? I was unaware it was concept art, I thought it was just a normal painting. There was no game title...just the title of the painting and the artists' name.

He means the splash screen. It's from Empires Total War. The very large picture i had though is simply art i found.
Nice little edit there Arbitterm, looks pretty funky :p.

Btw, edited the loading screen a little:

<a href="http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h99/CSHM-PiratesAhoy/Loading-B4-2.jpg" target="_blank">http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h99/CSHM...oading-B4-2.jpg</a>

Going to go check out some other fonts, don't have all the good ones i used to have.

Also, useful?

<img src="http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h99/CSHM-PiratesAhoy/new_game_PE.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Edit: Thoughts?

<img src="http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h99/CSHM-PiratesAhoy/Startup2.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Oh, and i just realised, that simple fact (Pieter reminded me), You make something at say, 1680 x 1050 res for example, TX, will change it to 1680 x 1680 (looks gay), BUT, the game will stretch it back out to 1680 x 1050. Totally forgot about that :p.

I also wanted to ask if you'd like the modDb banner to be the same theme as the news and Download buttons I made? The black background with a gold Jolly Roger.

But is it just me or isn't the image in an ordinary 1:3 aspect ratio? It looks like a widescreen loading image, but I think most people still use ordinary screens on their computers. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
