Any thing for a Photoshop Guy

Try attached; the loading text doesn't appear over the text on the splash screen.
I prefer to keep the logo in the middle if possible; it'd look silly off-centre. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I did some messing around with the Build 14 main menu image as per Arbitterm's idea.

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.net/build/images/publicity/b14_main_menu.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

I used PhotoZoom Professional to attempt to increase the quality of the image
Also I replaced the original game's PotC logo with the "New Horizons" one, including the required alpha map for the shadow.

<b>Edit:</b> Image updated and replaced.

And here's some attempted loading screens too.

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.net/build/images/publicity/b14_loading_game.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.net/build/images/publicity/b14_landing.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

I like them a lot - the same "period" feeling throughout.

Minor suggestion: On Load Saved Game and Landing - drop the bottom text block further down to expose more of the picture action.

And I really liked the shipboard crew view in one of the Land-Ho suggestions earlier.

Pieter I like your work! The only thing is, just like Short Jack Gold said, you should size down the New Horizons logo and the loading text. I will give it a shot later this evening. My video is almost done now!

Very nice work. I agree, you might want to shrink your stuff down a little, to show more picture. But it's mostly pretty perfect.
Start New Game is my favourite.

I'm afraid I got a bit carried away. I made replacements for all the generic loading screens.
Of course these are just temporary, but I got fed up seeing the same 'ol loading screens in my game.

The reason for the size of the bottom text box is because of the progress reload animation as can be seen on the first screen I posted.
I wanted to have it at the same height and similar size to that one so that it feels like the animated coin belongs there.

<a href="http://www.piratesahoy.net/build/images/loading/loading_screen_template.zip" target="_blank">See here</a> for the template I made for the loading screens.
I'm done with them now and am looking forward to other people making better versions for the final Build 14.

Twister most certainly DOES need a twister.
Too bad we don't have a painting yet with a twister on it.
Maybe someone can add it in with Photoshop or something?

I really like the twister one as is. Looks pretty nice. My only worry about these though is they are 1024 x 768, that's going to be a lot of stretching for most screens.

I've got them saved as 1024x1024 tga.tx files in my game (resized them to a "normal" resolution for posting on the forum).
1024x1024 is pretty much the largest reasonable size we can make them, I think. All stock game loading screens were 512x512.
If we're going to update all loading screens to 2048x2048, that is going to make the Build 14 download REALLY huge. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

The twister screen does look fairly good as-is; it just isn't a <i>twister</i>. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
I'm also thinking perhaps some of the images should be swapped; they're no all perfect for their purpose.
Oh well; I'll leave that up to other people now. At least we'll have some temporary stuff until somebody makes the final ones. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

<img src="http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l68/Thomas_the_Terror/PiratesNewHorizonsLogo.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />

New Horizons logo redone. I made the orginal one, but I wasn't that pleased with it.

that is a bug within the font <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I don't see why, you have them done just fine! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbs1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":2up" border="0" alt="thumbs1.gif" />

BTW Dolphin works wonders doesn't it?

Thanks Petros. I just don't want to assume that my work is to be final; after all, other people have also been doing work for them. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
In any case, the logo will need replacing now that Thomas made an update.
I'm also thinking that we don't need the logo on <i>all</i> screens; maybe just the main generic ones, but not "Battle" or "Boarding" or "Sea" or so. That would show more of thr actual paintings.
Indeed Dolphin does work wonders. Those new loading screens don't have the same layout as the old ones at all, but since I had the font now anyway, I figured I'd use it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Thank you, Thomas.

Yes Petros - the dolphin font is a bullseye <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Pieter, I must say along with all our other members.... You have an eye for what works. You've done an excellent job of choosing paintings that maintain the feel of the modifications we are working on.

I don't know about anyone else, but none of the loading screens you've done would need replacing with a more 'permanent' image. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="bow.gif" />

Well done mate!
