Mod Release AOP Super MOD

Thank Guys,
I loved to play POTC with the mods - but AOP was broken so I didn't spend too much time with it.
I've just installed Super Mod - look forward to play

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

I thought at first that the SuperMOD greatly improved the game, but some of the features it adds still don't work right. You may find after a little while, like I did, that switching back to PotC full-time is a better idea.

Just my two cents' worth  <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

And does that work well in English?

Also, do I need to reinstall the game for SaaS to work properly?

Thanks!

I've played the AoP SUPERMOD for a while and I think it's great apart from the Engine.EXE spazzing out here and there.
I like the enviroment, atmosphere and simplicity of it all. I really hope someone carries this SuperMod with them as they make new games in this genre, because it really is a great enviroment with lots of nice functions and great ideas.

I tried the PotC with a Mod and it was like someone was throwing a bugfest at a glitch convention.
I was literally walking thru walls here and there and everytime I tried the quick-arm function there was a message saying the french where coming, and several french soldiers spawned out of nothing infront of me. It was hell.
Maybe that was because I was using BUILD14alpha8. Should I have stopped at BUILD13 perhaps..?

As SuperMod often has Engine failure I'd also like to try the Secrets of the Far Seas Mod - english version..
However - after thrawling these forums back and forth for quite sometime in search of "The File" which would install such an adventure, I have given up.

Where is the SotfS file(s), and where is the translation file(s)?

How about making one non-postable sticky which contains links to all recent mods as they come along.
Looks to me like some files are located here and there in 300post threads round about.
Looking for certain files in this forum is like searching for a needle in a haystack. No offence as I'm very happy this forum exists.
I'd be very happy if there's like this simple solution that I've completely missed, and I'm now making a complete arse of myself with this request.
Please let it be so.

Hi.

Try this:- Age of Pirates Modding> under that it says subforums > Secrets of Far Seas <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Excellent ! Thanks Damski <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

By the way.. I have AoP with SuperMod installed now.

Is it then possible to install AoP again in a different ProgramFiles folder with the SotFS Mod and use both versions?

What say ye to that?

Delete the Playlogic registry entries? Won't that kill both games completely?

Almost thought for a second there you were referring to Windows Vista. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

The random French soldiers is supposed to be a cheat, but other than getting yourself killed, I don't see the point of it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> It's in earlier versions of the Build Mod too. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> Build 13 might not have it, but Build 14 Alpha 6 Update 2 does. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Build 13 also has it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Well if both 13 and 14 has it, then.. why?

If you push the quick-arm button, you don't quick-arm.. instead people are coming to kill you..?

What is then the point of the quick-arm button?

I don't get it.

That's why it's called "alpha". <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
However, the particular bugs you refer to do not sound like real problems.

The walk-through walls are a by-product of the BuildingSet mod that allows you to erect buildings ingame.
This mod, however, is coded rather oddly (wouldn't work otherwise), which causes the issue that you can walk through those buildings.
It can easily be turned off though; in Alpha 8 you can do so through the Options>Advanced Options menu and in earlier Build editions, you can do so in BuildSettings.h.
Also the sidestep feature is a simple horizontal teleport that we have been unable to give collision detection.
Therefore you can also sidestep through walls and into nothingness. It's up to the user to make normal use of that feature.

As for the French attack when pressing the Quick-Equip button, it sounds to me like two functions got assigned to the same button.
Try resetting your controls to default and see if that solves anything.
The reason for the French attack button is just for fun. It's supposed to be Numpad 0 and you don't need to press it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Please let it be so.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->That's indeed a major problem on the forum, especially when it comes to non-PotC mods.
Personally I only stick to PotC and things are fairly easy to find on the PotC forums.
Not so on others though. However, I made a seperate SoFS forum a couple of days ago as Damski already pointed out.
Over the coming while members kopcar and Cap'n_Drow will probably be making some stickies to help new members figure things out.

In that case I recommend you change the Rapid Raid function to another button in BuildDefaultControls.c; I think it was straight in the PROGRAM folder, though it might be in the Controls subfolder. After changing, reset controls to default and then make all the changes you want. Alternatively, set <i>all</i> your preferred controls as default in that file and each time you reset to default, everything will be OK again. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I tried the PotC with a Mod and it was like someone was throwing a bugfest at a glitch convention.

:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl So true. xD: The exact same thing goes to Fallout 3.. I mean really. How did they screw up Fallout franchise so bad. :shock

So true? Try Build 14 Beta 1 and then talk again!
Is it perfect? No. But it sure is really impressive! :shock

And those specific bugs mentioned in that... VERY old post...
are user-created issues, not actual problems with the modpack.
So if you are going to complain about the Build Mod, at least be fair.
