Since it's added by the build, yes, it _would_ be rather hard to find without. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

The rarity is scaled by your level and your luck skill, so at high level and high luck even rare items are found often.
 
Yup - just found one - not in great condition, but it hacks those pesky frenchies down in seconds <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" /> , got it in the Redmond dungeon.
 
If ur using build,(sword in bad condition so I guess u are <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blah:" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />) go to douwesen port and talk to the fancy dressed dude (the player character of the game without build) while having ur sword equiped <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blah:" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
 
I have an Atwood awesome sword I found a fine one during a boarding fight on a lineship then I turned it into an excellent by taking it to the blacksmith in Douwesen
 
Redmond seems to be overflowing with Attwoods now - must have had a fresh delivery. Must be my maxed luck ability kicking in, but I have found three Good ones by the right hand gate to the side of the Redmond town hall. Cardinal's Guard swords are also becoming common now too, but I be preferring me Attwood - Arrr
 
Which sword is the best in the game, once its been restored to perfect condition that is? I got a Cardinals Guard which seems to be the best due to its excellent block and attack qualities. What do you guys think?
 
Opinions vary, me and my crew have buson's swords (highest damage) but I heard something about the solinger rapier (I think it was this name), a lot of people seem to like it for it's blocking ability.

I currently use an excellent (is there a typo in the game it says exellent, or is that correct? dunno... ) Solinger Rapier, belive it has 93% blocking ability, guess its 100% with all the professional fencing abilities :p Does 56 damage max or so methinks.
 
I like the Solingen probably the best, followed by the Atwood `F-100` and the Bosun's Choice. Fine blades, all. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />
 
Damn it, how can people pierce my blocks with a 93% sword and full melee abilities, lvl 10 skill? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />
 
Did somebody shoot ya with a firearm ? I found the swordsmith on Douwesen and got my collection of ragged swords upgraded at last - excellent Cardinals Guards and Attwoods all round for the officers now <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" />
 
No noone shot me and always when I am boarding i face 500 life crewmen who kill me in 2 swings no matter if I block or not. Now this is a Manowar boarding a damn Sloop!!!!! Come on 900 crewman vs 100 and I don't stand a chance? I'm playing on Adventurer, not the hardest. Andy yes all my fighting skills are maximized. And noone shot me. And my sword should block 93%. Damn.
 
Maybe you are taking stabs from the back or side that you cannot see. Its always best to get in a position where you are faced with just one enemy at a time if possible as a whole crowd of them will break through your block
