I get that too, Nathan. Block is for NOTHING, and inexplicable... Those darned Animists with their daggers were breaking through my Brazo de Colon (granted, not the greatest sword, but certainly better than a dagger!). <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

I got build 12. Animists wernt too much of a problem, but I was in deeeeeeeeep trouble when it came to the leader. I swear that Ive never come across someone that hard before, and without the build he wansnt too bad. I had 10 in everything, if you take into account the officer's skills. at any rate, I had all the abilities for fencing, a 10 at fencing and 10 at luck, 250 health, and yet I still die in 1 hit, even with Lucas's armour on (even though it is a GREAT help)

B12.1 - I've been modding, and trying to stay away from the "extra" flavors of the build because I did want to be able to incorporate it into B12.2 or whatever we're calling it, before B13.

Ah.
Hmm, don't think I've touched fight code like that--just recently I added a pierce check in the applyarmor function, but neither of you have that code.

Oh, and the sword I am using is the Vagrant, not the Brazos de Colon. Better stats by far, and those pesky knife-wielding Animists break right through. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> Maybe it has something to do with the disarm mod that's unfinished but in there somehow. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Same with me! Even with a solingen rapier, I die very quckly. I think this is a code from the stock that hasnt been changed, a bug in the difficulty settings? I know you can chose in this one, but that bug is still there somewhere.

I mentioned this in another thread, now, too. I happen to have a Windmill Slayer in my new game, and the block seems fine - but I have not yet gone to a blacksmith. When I do, it will be interesting to see whether I really DO have improved stats on the blade... I somehow think it might be tied into the code there, because I do not notice the trouble until after I've gone to the blacksmith. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

No, it doesnt do instant kill on a low level. Try getting to a high level before going into a blacksmith, and see if it happens.

I don't care about the "kill" factor that much, I care more about the "block" factor... I'd rather have a duel last longer, as long as I have a mostly ironclad block. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Ah, I see. Okay, I'll try that - It won't take long to get up there, since I have now started taking ships and got my Xebec CT (my main ship for the mid-part of the game).

I thought build 12.1 doesn't have the extra blacksmiths.
That would mean you also have some version of Pieter's PotCMods installed.

12.1 had Alan's Douwesen roving blacksmith.

I'm now using Pieter's modpack and bugtesting it as I am finished with the Animists Quest fix I was working on... I am happy to report that so far, the swords I have that were upgraded by a blacksmith seem to be doing just fine. I asked because I wanted to know if anyone had taken care of that little but really annoying glitch. I'm glad they did! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

I still got that glitch, and I've been running with Pieter's Modpack ever since I insatelled the build! Perhaps we need some sort of tracker that shows where it got the code from in each thing that you, or your enemy, does. once you die instantly, quit, and then see what was the last few lines of code was that wasnt quitting.

CCC made some changes to the blacksmith dialog code, if I recall correctly, but that only involved actually PAYING for the work he did and not much else. I thought... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

This isnt something that we did, this bug was in the stock game. Though we may have made it worse with our fiddling, it is in a code from the original. Im pretty sure of that, but not certain. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

What stock game version do you have? It seems like there are major differences between the versions. I have an Euro-version, which seems to work just fine.
