well going by what i read,i think the point of this is to get it stable,and having more people
play it and find bugs the easier it'll be to make it stable.

i know that, but you have WIPs that you can play for hours and the acasual bugs that you report, and you have those that crash every 20 minutes

From what I can tell, it is quite playable.
It is basically Build 14 Alpha 9.5 Patch 4 + additional features and fixes.
There's going to be some additional bugs in the additional features,
but that's what we're trying to uncover in the first place.

ok cool,i'll download it then,it'll help me anyway so i know some of what i can do with my storyline soon :D.

ok well mabye i got a corrupt download but i seem to have a major problem,everytime i talk to a npc it crashes to desk top,no matter story line or options.and the last time i tried it generated no
error file even though there was one the other 2 times i tried.here's the system and compile logs i do have though.

View attachment system.log
View attachment compile.log

Appears to be the same error another person was having in the in the pre-release to public (Im not sure if we fixed it though :()

Can anyone else report if they get this? :?

ok did a fresh install and now it seems to be working,though when i died right off the bat lol it showed the death screen then ported me to the tavern room and showed some info on the screen though i couldn't read it in time.i'm gonna turn on the error reporting and try again.just wanted to see if it was gonna work 1st.

For all I know, it should be working. But indeed one of our modders was having the errors in that system.log file too.
And those messages are also DEFINITLY not normal:
Code:
WARNING!!! Item id = gunpowder not implemented
WARNING!!! Item id = pistolbullets not implemented

i did some more testing last night.it seems the ctd happens when i have the new interface on.
but i seem to some how messed up the second install lol.missing some textures some how,when i have the new interface on things are missing and the back ground is all black.when i can i'll do so looking see if i can't solve it.the new interface is working great in patch 4 though.

I updated the instructions above with a note to NOT use the new interface for the time being. :facepalm

Ahoy Pieter!

Hopefully the new brown interface will be good-to-go again soon as I personally find it much less ubtrusive and also much more visually pleasing to the eye.
What is it exactly that is not working with the brown UI ? I find it working just nicely in 9.5A4 (well apart from the select personnal flag buttons when starting a new game but they are there (invisible) and just a tad placed off to the right ... but still working fine!)

Thank you and all the best
Frans

I'd like to be able to use the brown one too and even set it as Build-default,
but at the moment the INI files are outdated.
Pirate_KK did a lot of interface work, but only did it on the blue interface.
He intended to update the brown one later, once he'd be done with all his interface work.
But now he's too busy to do much modding work at all,
so if we want to get the brown interface working again, we'll have to do it ourselves.

As far as the actual problems you could encounter, I'm not sure.
They'll probably be quite bad, especially in the heavily modified Shipyard interface.

ok well mabye i got a corrupt download but i seem to have a major problem,everytime i talk to a npc it crashes to desk top
CONFIRMED! I had this happen to me too with the new, brown interface. :yes

Fix found; put this in RESOURCE\INI\dialog.ini:
Code:
[DIALG2]
namefont	= INTERFACE_TITLE
mainfont	= DIALOG21
subfont		= DIALOG31
leftIndent	= 45
rightIndent	= 40
nodes_y		= 32
nodes_n		= 0
fon_Border	= 10
fon_A		= 128
fon_R		= 11
fon_G		= 8
fon_B		= 55
The interfaces are still outdated, but at least no more CTDs with dialogs.
I'm thinking I'll try to update the brown interfaces myself tomorrow. I've already managed "Select Storyline".

Hello Pieter,

I am testing the WIP so far no problems really, except a CTD in the middle of my first boarding while looting corpses. I it be nice to see what the different paint jobs look like in the ship yard. Pricing for upgrades seems pretty steep. Also are the realisim settings working like in Patch 4?

And finally, the top two blade grades have been renamed to High and Superior from fine and excellent, is that right? And Why?

Anyway so far so good.

If you're testing this version, be sure to have a look at the "Build Info.txt" folder.
How is the Save At Sea mod holding up?

There is also the "Wounded Crewmembers" mod that makes not all crew die in battle, but some get wounded.
This is indicated as "[healthy crew] / [wounded crew]" in the F2>Ship menu.
Wounded crewmembers can become healthy again or die from gangrene afterwards.

By default, 1 crewmember gets healed and 16 die every day (on average).
Medicine goods increase the number of healed by 5 and decrease the daily casualties by 5
at the expense of one good unit a day taken from the cargo hold.
A doctor will increase the number of healed crew by his defence skill and
the daily casualties are decreased by his defence skill.

I'd very much like to know if the current numbers for this mod seem more-or-less balanced.
I haven't done much testing of the mod, other than checking if it works at all.

I it be nice to see what the different paint jobs look like in the ship yard.
Absolutely. Doober has made screenshots of all the ships (though some might need to be redone)
and I'm hoping we can use those instead of the current interface pictures some time soon.

Pricing for upgrades seems pretty steep.
I think you're quite right there.

Also are the realisim settings working like in Patch 4?
They should indeed still be working. We didn't remove any Alpha 9.5 Patch 4 content. :no

And finally, the top two blade grades have been renamed to High and Superior from fine and excellent, is that right? And Why?
That's definitly not supposed to have happened. Hook tried to change the morale names,
which originally used the same text strings as the weapon qualities. But he seperated those.
What interface did you see those wrong item names? Or was it in all?
And can you confirm that the quality names WERE still correct in Alpha 9.5 Patch 4, by any chance?
