Build 14 Alpha 7 Plus Full Version

another question. Does anyone know what to do in the Elizabeth Shaw quest? I've gone to philipsburg, but all that I can find at Baie d'Orient is a corpse.
 
Walk around near the corpse. You will find a logbook from the ship.
Fleut3 works fine for me. I just tested.
I'll see if I can make a better merge tomorrow or in the weekend. This all sounds pretty much not good. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
 
I've been away for a couple of weeks and just came back to see that a "new" version is available. Progress is always a nice thing!

Here's a couple of bugs I've found so far...

- BuildSettings.h and InternalSettings.h seem to have no affect any longer. I did try the built in options interface, but there was no setting for "cheat mode", which I use for testing. Also, I can no longer select a ship I want to start with. I did see a work around that Pieter provided for giving a ship to a player. IMHO, it's not a good thing to take away functionality that has been there (i.e., customizable settings in those 2 files).

- When playing with AMMOMOD and WEAPONSMOD off, you cannot get into the weapons locker on your ship (or any boarded ship). This IS a game breaker, if you start on the tutorial deck, since you cannot access the weapons locker and Malcom has no option for "pass by equipping the locker". It just loops and you are stuck on the deck. It could probably be fixed with a simple ELSE statement somewhere that initializes the weapons locker for non-AMMO or non-WEAPONS mods.

- Some NPC voices (apparently random) are very, very low volume and some are normal volume. Other sounds (background music and effects) seem to be at normal volume.

I'll be checking in later after I give this one a go in some other modes.

The BuildSettings interface is a nice improvement, but it's not entirely finished yet. Still needs to be improved and fixed. I am thinking we should put the most important settings as options in the interface and put the other settings as regular #define in BuildSettings.h. Perhaps we should move BuildSettings.h back into the PROGRAM folder, because with this version it is not intended to change the BuildSettings through that file anymore.

The weaponsmod weapons locker should be checked.
 
Major thing what i suggest to be fixed at first is getting cannon fire sounds back. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />
 
I don't even know why the sounds are gone. Perhaps Pirate_KK already fixed it in his game version. I don't know. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Please, be specific as to WHAT settings you are using. Let's try NOT to confuse the issue(s).

I'm betting that you had AMMO MOD and WEAPONS MOD turned on (the default). I can get into the weapons locker also when those mods are on.

I am 100% certain that the weapons locker DOES NOT work (in tutorial or on boarded ships) when those two mods are turned OFF.

Found this new character available as an officer, hired him, left tavern and got a CTD. He has no portrait or animation. There are probably others missing as well.

sorry, yeah, i played with them by default. i haven't tried it wtih them off yet.
 
Another bug in this version (14a7 PLUS)...

I'm testing the way a newbie might want to play. Tried to start and play without a compass being equipped for the battle interface/compass to display. However, it appears a compass is required, since the interface doesn't seem to recognize this variable(Battle Interface-> Depending On Settings). Did I miss something else that needed to be switched for this to work, or is this a bug? I'm asking because I've been playing for almost a year and can't get it to work - how will a new player feel? The game is already on a steep enough learning curve IMHO. Should there be a more clear explanation (or text description) of how to turn off compass and/or sextant/chrono? I'm not exactly sure what the "other settings" refers to...

Another strange thing, I went to OPTIONS -> ADVANCED to check for this variable, then came back to the game without making a change and now all status messages (character names, etc.), as well as icons (doors, port, world map sailing, etc.) are gone (on both land and sea). The pic above was screen capped before I checked in the options interface.

Now, on a good note, I have had only one CTD so far in about 6 hours of test play.

I can't get further then the 2nd Oxbay mission without the game crashin or having some sort of quest break where I can't activate a key character, because I can't talk to him/her, nor leave the building...'cause all the doors have closed locks.

Mainly I've been playing freeform with this game, avoiding Oxbay and Redmond, but the game will still CTD. Sailing mode, Fighting mode, 1st and 3rd person. The game crashes randomly. I also think certain quests are activated, even thou they aren't yet completed and the game crashes.

I'm curious how most are starting this game. Either Stormy, Evil Stormy or just stock?
 
If you change the compass setting, you must first reload the scene for the change to take effect. Reload to the worldmap or to land, then back to sea and the change should have taken effect. That's how it worked when the BuildSettings were still a #define. I have not tested it since.

The game was started that way (no compass / show battle interface) from a fresh game - and it didn't work...

I am puzzled. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> Am I the only one having the boarding issues identified below? If I am in idea why? I followed the loadiing instructions ran files.bat etc. Anyone have a work around?

I think you are not the only one to have that. I have seen something similar. I'm going to see what I can do. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />
 
no jason, your not the only one, i experianced that to. not only do they group around the mast but between the floors to so your definatly not the only one with that problem
