Build 14 Alpha 9

It is looking a bit of an outdated setup but try putting some more memory in it....1 gig's better but go for 2 that'll give you a better chance of other games working too. It'll ease up on your processors workload as well as the graphics card.

blah in no position right now to put anything into my computer.
Wish this game had options to tone down the graphics and such like most others.
I was mainly asking if these slowdowns have to do with stuff added to the build in which case I will just revert to last version that worked okay for me.

Are you sure you installed correctly? There shouldn't be (much) textures missing. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

there was only one beach that nothing was textured it was all grey.
was unsure if that was from a bug or my computer going nuts.
im sure i installed correctly.

yup.
Just tried tweaking some performance settings on my graphics card to hopefully improve performance over image quality.
Hope this works.

The game play is MUCH smoother. It used to be quite jerky and have lots of lag. Alpha 9 is an improvement. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

The main lag was caused by the new sound system, which has been fixed by Hook and Captain 'Dan the Lunatic Wolf'.
Actually, Hook is still working on further fixing and improving the sound-code, but at least the sea battle performance issues are sorted. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

Which beach was untextured?

Ahoy There

I have tried installing it twice and followed your instructions to the letter, within 30 seconds of starting the extract on top of the current game an error box appears 'error cannot copy file c/etc.../runmebat'

Im on Vista and have found I could not put the game in any other folder than program files, and all the build mods so far up to 14/6 (I got it working the other day) have installed ok

Has everyone else installed ok 1st time ?

I get crashes when I go to main menu from the game and when I click resume game crashes to desktop ... Any ideas?

err Im not on vista.
I dont remember which beach and I can not check now as I just had to for the time being take apart my computer and put back my sister's computer as she just got back in town and right now there is only one working monitor.

For god's sake.... if so many things go wrong with an installer that does work, how are we ever going to get things sorted?
And of course you can install the game to another folder than Program Files. Just try, for example, C:\Games\Pirates of the Caribbean.

I was playing Build 13 just fine for a few days and decided to give this build a try. I installed on the existing build 13 and then tried reinstalling with clean installs and I still have this problem. If I start a new game as Devlin I just get a black screen, the menus work fine with F1 or F2, but the 3D engine is black. I tried the Master and Commander scenario and the land portion works fine but if I board the ship the bottom 90% of the screen is completely black.

Dunno if it has anything do with it but this in the system file doesn't look right.

No engine.ini file? Do you REALLY not have an engine.ini file in your main game folder???
Is there anything in the other log files (compile.log or error.log)?

When you install the Build Alpha 9 is it the Light one at 17mb or the full one at 911mb you install. If you try to put the Alpha 9 Light over Build 13 it ain't gonna work. If you install the Alpha 9(911mb) over the build 13 did you remove the PROGRAM folder as well as the ...RESOURCE\MODELS\Locations\decks and the ...RESOURCE\INI folders. those folders as to be deleted after you install build 13 then you install build alpha 9 then you run the runme.bat. You may also look <a href="http://www.domain.com" target="_blank"><b>here</b></a> for more info.

I had that problem with the light version, don't have it anymore with the full version.
