- CTD when trying to raise the pirate flag...
- CrashRestart when I do too many things at once... (Attacking a ship while ina storm, just ordered to load grapes and change the sails...) <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock:" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" />
 
CTD are a wierd thing tew be sure Drunken,I've done all O' those things in beta test'n build 12 an no problems,occasionaly I'd be gett;n a CTD when switch'n from Sea mode tew world map.I'd jest be sure t save leav'n port everytime,press'n de T key helps te minimize CTD <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

If you're feeling brave, you can mess around with the modulesTechniques folder, copying and pasting SHA files (or whatever they're called--they're just text) to make the `pixel-shading` work for you.
It may be that POTC, being built before the X800 cards, does not recognize them and thinks they're not PS compliant.
 
What should I copypaste to where?

modulestechniquesweathersea.
1. Make backup.
2. copy and rename RadeonSea.sha to all three other card files (g2mxsea, g3sea, xboxsea), leaving seafoam alone.
3. Do the same for ..shaders (copy/rename ATIShaders to GF3, Xbox).

Try ingame. If that doesn't work, restore the backup and copy and rename G3 to the other files in both places.

If still no change, you can play around in one of the tweak utilities--there may be some "compatibility" option that makes the computer think it's a 9x00?

Or it may just be buggy early driver (I don't see why POTC wouldn't know its PS capabilities, because that's handled via DirectX...)
 
I have the newest Omega drivers, Nathan. Altho that's a beta version, it HAS worked with PotC `bug-free` previously... But I can't test anything ATM, as that main menu thing has crept back... So why are my guy and my ship invincible? Only exploding chests can hurt me.

I mean, I haven't peeked at the code to see if invincibility is enabled, but this often seems to be the default upon starting a new game.

Have you looked at your game level (HP), Alan? And what difficulty are you playing at?
 
If it's just that the damage isn't showing on the little ship icon in the BI while in battle at sea, that's a known issue due to PRS3, and it occurs when your ship HP is above the maximum the game thinks possible for that ship. Rather than displaying a full health bar, it displays no health bar at all.

If it's something else, speak on... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huhh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:k" border="0" alt="huhh.gif" />
 
Sometimes it shows no health bar, but that gets fixed soon as my ship gets shot a time or two, I think; other times the health bar is just frozen. Like, I could capture an enemy ship who has already sustained damage, but once I'm at the helm my magical invincibility becomes transferred and that ship takes no `red-bar` damage; crew and sails are still affected.

It ought to be whatever the default difficulty is, because this happens on a brand new game. Anyway, I'll give the code a look next time I play. And I'm not complaining; invincibility has its advantages. But it's cheating...

But Nathan is right, check your Ship Status, you'll see there if you're getting any damage. Those indicator bars are a bit screwed up, lately.

I have a question for everyone who's been testing Build 11.9x - have you been able to get the Nigel Blythe quest to work?

I've been able to hire him, but NOTHING happens after that. He sticks to me like glue, no running off to make deals or anything...

I'd like to know if anyone's been able to get him off his cheatin' arse and get him to start actin' squirrely. ? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
