thaks for the welcome

what i mean by the time select thing is (look to the first page of this subject)
at the start of the game you can choose from a few different starting times (years)
and there should be a few changes to each time.

What i mean by the weapon select thing is that it says average, exellent, good etc
but if you can already turn it off or ajust it then great.

and my heated shot ability has been explained by mAIOR.

and sorry for the complaints about the town it is better than not having it.

also is there any definate time for the release of build 13

Set this option in buildsettings.h :

#define ENABLE_WEAPONSMOD 1

to 0 to disable the weapon qualities.

Well, you are right, the Buildingset certainly has its oddities. But it is an entirely new feature which the original game was never designed for. Only by means of a lot of tricks and twists it could be made to work, and it can't be helped that those twists show through.

No really, no. I wanted to release it tomorrow or something like that, but now several new error are found that need to be fixed first. I'm getting half a mind to just release Beta 1 as Build 13, even if the new islands are not finished in there. I'm going a bit nuts with this. Every time I think we are closer to Build 13, new bugs are found. ARGH! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

Hi thanks couch captin and pieter for telling me that weapon mod off switch (dont like micro managing).

Although i cant code i would be more than happy lend a hand in
the latest build mod (storyline, play testing, finding out stuff etc)

Pieter will be releasing a new beta pretty soon probably, so when that comes out you can get that and test it out. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Well 13 is a strange number - some say unlucky <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

My tuppence worth in the Defining a Common Goal:

1.Improve the 3D sailing aspect of the game.

Reasons: to keep the continuity of the playing experience, i find the 2D map sailing mode a little too arcade like compared to the rest of the game.

Aims: a) Simulate continuous sailing from port-to-port if the player wishes it b) Improve weather model to make more realistic weather changes to include getting into storms(the storm screen) c) Introduce new ship spawns along the edge of the mini-map in the direction of players travel.

2. Pretty much all of what other people have mentioned - the general theme seems to be to keep it as accurate as possible to the era, which i just cant fault <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
 
We are not going to add any new content to Build 13 at all. Especially not the continuous port-to-port sailing mod, because that one would first need to be started, coded, tested, etc. IF it works at all.
 
Ah ok i might have misinturpreted what this thread was about - i thought it was an overall goal rather than a current build goal. anyway i'm not asking for any new stuff to be added any time soon - i think people probably have their hands full as it is - sorry if this wasn't the place for my post <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
I realise i might be the only person ever who sails in 3D for the most part, so i'm very prepared to get me hands dirty with working out the issues.
 
Sorry if I sounded annoyed or anything. You are free to post any ideas in this thread that you like. But since you were talking about Build 13, I thought I'd tell you that we won't get to those things for Build 13. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I notice the slower sailing movement in the map sailing screen with pre build13, a definate improvement that might get me to use that screen more often - still i am a bit of a sailing purist/fan, so i'm sure i'll be around for a long time to annoy you all with my mad idea <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />

Realism seems to be a common goal of many, and i'm all for it where it can improve an aspect of the game.
 
I like sailing as well. Heck: I am studying to become an officer aboard a ship. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
But PotC is not really a sailing simulator. The sailing is pretty nice, of course. But if you want a real sailing simulator, you might want to check out <a href="http://www.avsim.com/vs" target="_blank">Virtual Sailor</a>.

I just find the 3D sailing part of PotC so beutifull, the reflection of the light on the water, the sunsets, the music and soundeffects of course(i'm going to be looking at increasing the water part of the sound effects sometime i think-they are a little quiet). And best of all the fact you can sail realistic old timer wooden sailcraft. If only the game could simulate the sun on your face and a strong salty breeze <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Still this part of the game does have its issues, so i'm keen to see if they can be addressed and am happy some of them have already been discussed by some people here - i think we can crack it eventualy.

some ideas:

1)new ships (or reskined ones)

2)new charcter (or update some old ones)

3)re skin cites (i can do that i just dont no where to find textures for the outside buildings i no for the inside of them)

4) realstic islands if we want to stray from POtc but still have
a pirate game in the carabbein we need islands like jamicia and dominica.

5)new weapons

6)i kind of like a bit on fantasy with reailty maybe we could keep skeletons and things.

7)if it is to hard dont worry, but would it be possible to make getting from island to island easier like a fast travel thing?

and just a thought about the player made builds being walk
through maybe the codes are in moudles?
 
1) There are already lots of new ships in the Build 13 Beta versions with several others made by Petros on the way. Not to mention Kazeite's film version of the Black Pearl that is not yet added.

2) There are many new characters in the Build 13 Beta versions. And there are some that I haven't added yet but I'll add them eventually.

3) I have a reskinned version of Santo Domingo waiting to be added to Build 13.1. I also have the AoP versions of Guadeloupe and Tortuga to add.
To reskin towns, you need to copy the model files, HEX edit them to change the filename they use, then copy the file in RESOURCE\Textures, convert it with the TX Convertor and change it. Then convert it back using the same program.

4) I think we have plenty to work on with the islands in the Build 13 Beta. There's so much we can still add to those that I don't think we really need any other new islands.

5) There are several new weapons in the Build 13 Beta. There are also several others that could be added. But I don't see the point in adding "yet another blade". New weapons would need to be truly special in some way, I think.

6) The skeletons and fantasy things are not removed from the game and I don't intend to remove them either. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />

7) You don't like sailing then? It might be possible. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

its not that i dont like sailing its just the maps are becoming bigger and take longer to get i love 3d sailing but it takes llong to get anywhere when i map sale i normaly have on x10 or x30 as i find x1 and x3 are to slow but i end up flying past the islands i intend to get to but maybe if like we could fast travel to ports or something would save alot of time.
