Can I suggest for the future MODS to have the navigational charts and some additional quests that can be found there.. hehehe. And for the Queen Anne's Revenge to have the ability to capture ships and put it in a bottle like what cap'n teach did on the pearl..hehehe that can be summoned any time..:D

Just sharing ideas about this very entertaining and addicting game!!! :aar

Do you have any idea how to make that work? It is easy to have an idea, but much harder to figure out how to make it happen.

In fact, based on the films, we still don't even know how to get a ship OUT of a bottle. Or if that is even possible.
 
Just A presentation maybe? Capture it like the kraken scene when attacking, just a different kin of approach. then have it on the items with a picture in a different drawer..hehehe
 
Possible would be an instant sinking of the targeted ship. If someone would make an interface picture of a ship-in-a-bottle, we can add that item to your inventory when the enemy ship is sunk.
Not feasible to make a different one for each ship in the game though; that'd be a LOT of items for something not many people will be using and is quite overpowered to begin with.
And how to get those ships out again, I'd have no clue. So I can go as far as:
1. Insta-sink
2. Get an item with a ship-in-a-bottle interface picture

But on a more serious note... How would we simulate that within game engine limitations?
And how serious were Jack and Gibbs being in the first place? Only PotC 5 will tell us (maybe) and that isn't due out for well over a year. :wp

Yeah, and if the drawer's full, you can delete ship-in-a-bottles for another ships
hehehe. And how 'bout just equipping them ships on the bottle if needed. Like the giveship2char thing. Only without codes to execute and made possible during gameplay..hehehe with some dialogs like he said..hehehe

even if it takes a lot of time, it'll be worth the wait..if it can be done..hopefully someday..hehehe:p
 
GiveShip2Character replaces your player ship. You'd want some sort of instant ship appearing out of nowhere?
No clue how to do that without a reload. And even with a reload, I'm not going to try to figure that out; plenty to do as it is.
Not to mention any such ability would be too far overpowered for me to consider it fun.
That is why even the Kraken Attack is not an instant sink; ships can and do survive.

I can point you to the "Call Kraken" code though and perhaps you can figure out how to do that insta-sink thing yourself.
Search for "Kraken Attack" in PROGRAM\BATTLE_INTERFACE\BattleInterface.c and PROGRAM\NK.c .
Function Ship_Detonate(Characters[targetNum], true, true); would make a ship explode and sink. You can use that instead of the Kraken code.
 
Would love to see a co-op mod for this game over lan and such, but it seems pretty difficult to do it, although I once played a game that had no multiplayer so what me and my friend did (we saw it on a forum dedicatd to the game) was to share some game files through dropbox I think and it would update our game files so when I did something he would get an update on his files and he could see the changes in the game. But it was in simcity 4 so probably isnt great help.
 
Actual multiplayer will never be possible in PotC because we'd need to edit the source code for that and literally nobody has that anymore.

Bartolomeu o Portugues intends to add a "fake multiplayer" to the game though.
Basically that will put famous pirates in there who you can encounter and who will try to become the most feared pirate in the Caribbean, same as yourself.

Maybe the developer or publisher has it or someone that used to work with them, long shot in the dark though.:shrug
 
When I said "literally nobody", I meant it. We asked the developers. They don't have it anymore either. Nobody does.
 
Maybe in the future a few tweaks on the big ships' ship deck can be done when sailing 3rd person view. Like the manowar gub. It looks kinda empty Clipboard01.jpg compared to other big ships which looks great. Clipboard02.jpg
 
The stock Manowar is oversized, so any details it does have probably look smaller anyway.
If anything, it would be better to make the ship slightly smaller and then give it better cannons etc, but that would be a big job.
 
Indeed the stock game manowars are pretty darn ugly in every respect as far as I'm concerned.
Can't we just remove them? :whipa
 
mhm well they aren't that realistic, are they... hmm well I wouldn't remove them at all but maybe let them disappear from shipyards and the sea? So canEncounter = false and canBuy = false. We could still have them sold by Vanderdecken, if a player still wants it :shrug

Another question.. We don't have the possibility to crack the code of Storm 2.0, I think? Would it be possible to "port" Storm 2.8 to PotC? I mean.. its more or less the same engine?

Well, they're kind of a gap-filler for various nations in some periods. Without them, some nations might not have any 100-gun ships. :shrug

Our best bet would probably be to port PotC content to Storm 2.8, bit by bit. Doing it the other way round has proven useless so far. :facepalm
