Getting Interceptor into the game

<!--quoteo(post=224899:date=Dec 8 2007, 11:59 AM:name=Commodore John Paul Jones)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Commodore John Paul Jones @ Dec 8 2007, 11:59 AM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Does anyone else think she's sitting a bit high in the water? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> It looks as if she's a bit topheavy... might want to lower her a bit deeper.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

That is <b>very easy </b>to do with code in the Ships_init.c file. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" />

I set <i>refShip.WaterLine = 1.0;</i> for the Interceptor and I think that looks pretty good. The original Barque1 has <i>refShip.WaterLine = 0.0;</i>.

Yes, I do think that <i>Interceptor</i> sits a bit high in the water, but, like the gentlemen before me had graciously mentioned, it is easily fixable <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

And for your information, according to the IGN plans, the <i>Black Pearl</i> is 35,5m long at the waterline.

Ugh... You <b>don't</b> want to know the horrors I've had with those sails, twisting and twirling in all possible directions, waving around like some kind of... cotton monsters, ready to engulf my air walking sailors and condemn them to the horrible, terrible fate as they...

Ahem.

<img src="http://kazeite.republika.pl/PotC/Int7.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Now that sails are under control, I've started adding lots of ropes <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

AWESOME! JUST PLAIN AWESOME <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="bow.gif" />

So, in the matter of speed,
HMS Dauntless < The Interceptor < Flying Dutchman < The Black Pearl?
Is this correct?
By the way, good work <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Not entirely sure on the placement of the Dutchman. The Interceptor was the fastest ship in the Caribbean (it is NOT said it's the fastest ship in the world). The Black Pearl is said to be faster (but also not the fastest ship in the world) than the Interceptor. The Flying Dutchman is said to be faster sailing against the wind than the Black Pearl, but the Black Pearl is faster sailing <i>with</i> the wind.

Funny thing is, if this was the real world, <i>Dauntless</i>, being biggest, would be the fastest one <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Judging from the movie, the <i>Interceptor</i> seems to be marginally slower than cursed <i>Pearl</i> without oars, which I believe makes it faster than <i>Dutchman</i> with the wind.

(And cursed <i>Pearl</i> has <i>Phantom ship</i> feat: "<i>As long as HP of the ship is not depleted, it acts and performs like it's undamaged</i>" <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />)

WOAH! I cannot wait to get my hands on this beauty! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

YARR! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" /> Me cannot wait to get my DIRTY hands on it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" />

it really does look nice. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> that cursed ship trait sounds like fun. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

<!--quoteo(post=225319:date=Dec 11 2007, 12:40 AM:name=Kazeite)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Kazeite @ Dec 11 2007, 12:40 AM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->(And cursed <i>Pearl</i> has <i>Phantom ship</i> feat: "<i>As long as HP of the ship is not depleted, it acts and performs like it's undamaged</i>" <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />)<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->That does sound like fun. I think we might be able to put that ingame. Not sure how though. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

New update for the new year! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

<img src="http://kazeite.republika.pl/PotC/Int8.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

I'm getting there... getting there. Only 20 or so ropes and it'll be done <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Anyways, I have some questions - a poll of some kind, if you will <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

1. As you can see, the <i>Interceptor</i> doesn't have main course sail, which means that there's only one sail difference between battle sails and full sails. Do you think I should set some other sail to furl for battle sails mode and which one should it be?

2. Is the mizzen course flag big enough? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

nice flag. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> as i know my fair share of sail configuring in comparison to the wind, my guess is that the square sails on the mizzen should be furled too for battle sails. that way the ship would get most pressure on the bow and turn easier, so theoretically, that would be the most logical way. the main course should of course be furled too, as always, so the staysail and jib would get better wind.

1 flag looks good. 2 I think you should set some other sail to furl, I would take that one in the middle between the 2 masts.

VERY nice work (ps thanks for the hat, but I can't get the animation right) and happy new year.

AWESOME, KAZEITE! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

1. Perhaps the sail between the masts as well? Or else the non-square one on the aft mast. Just some thoughts. My apologies for not using the proper terms. I do not know them. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

2. WHAT flag? The ones on the tops of the masts look good to me. The stern one could perhaps be a bit bigger, but not nescessarily.

you mean the staysail? i don't think that one should be furled, because it would normally block part of the wind that's supposed to go into the main course. but as that sail will be furled, the mizzen topmast staysail (the one you meant) doesn't limit any other sails.

EDIT: on second thought, it's of course very handy to keep the thing out of harm's way from flying shot. furl it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Here's my "golden rule" on ensigns: The ensign's height is half that of the driversail. Whenever I draw ships, that's what I do.

When it comes to battlesails, I'd take in the maincoursestay, driver, forecourse, and spritsail... anything that could be hit by shot screaming over the decks except the jibs.

Wow, beautifull ship, Kazeite!

Out of curiosity, whats the polycount?

Knowing Kazeite: Probably not so high. The Black Pearl seems to run really quite smooth as well. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />
