Getting Interceptor into the game

Actually, in the third movie, <a href="http://www.the-bahama-islands.com/4dauntless010306.jpg" target="_blank">EITC paint scheme</a> doesn't appear to be different from RN paint scheme - their gunport lids are also painted black.

Wasn't the Dauntless blue-with-yellow instead of black-with-yellow like the Endeavour?

Yes, it's what I dubbed "Carribean squadron colors", but <b>JPJ</b> was referring to real-life Royal Navy. I think <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

If you have DVD, watch the scene where Beckett says "He expects us to honor our agreement" - you can see some other ships to his left, and some of them appear to be yeallow&blue, as opposed to yellow&black. But it might be just my wishful thinking <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I think what we could do is to have all RN ships black and yellow, except the Interceptor and Dauntless, because they're a bit special. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Riiight.

I can just imagine all those posts:

<i>"Why is Dauntless and Interceptor blue? I thought they were RN ships."

"Well they are RN ships!"

"Why other RN ships are black. What gives?"

"That's because, you see, Dauntless and Interceptor are... special."</i>

LOL. They ARE yellow and blue in the film though, aren't they? So to have proper uniformity, we'd have to either make them black and yellow OR make all the OTHER RN ships blue and yellow. Then what about the Endeavour? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wacko:" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

The <i>Endeavour</i> is not a Caribbean RN ship, now, is it? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I think we could make RN ships yellow&blue, which will leave yellow&black for EITC ships. We could explain it as yellow&blue being the official color scheme of the RN in Caribbean. EITC ships, being under different authority, will naturally have different paint jobs.

That would be good, especially as My Dauntless uses the Endeavours model, so if it was black and yellow, rather than blue and yellow, the two ships would be more or less identical.

Would be nice to have all RN ships changed to blue and yellow then. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

What is this blue and yellow everyone's talking about?! I don't see it. I've never seen a painting, read an account, or seen a model where the whole ship was painted blue rather than black (besides some of the light blue trimmings up top).

Does anyone have a clear photo of this? I'd like to see it.

The whole reason this came up because it seems the Dauntless and Interceptor are painted a bit more blueish than pure black. See <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=11220&view=findpost&p=224163" target="_blank">this</a> post of mine and Kazeite's reply to it.

As clearly visible <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/wperez/85067228/" target="_blank">on this photo</a>.

Hmmm.... I can see the blue, but why did they do it? The RN is black and yellow-ochre...

Do what you will with them, but I personally think that we shouldn't use the blue/yellow... just doesn't seem real to me.

The Interceptor and Dauntless are blue with yellow in the films. So should we make them black and yellow instead (then what's the difference between the Endeavour and the Dauntless?), should we keep these two ships the only blue and yellow ships in the game and keep all other RN ships black and yellow or do we make ALL RN ships blue and yellow? I'd opt for having only the Dauntless and Interceptor blue and yellow; much simpler to do, because that's the way it is already. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

I think it's because PotC is set before unified color scheme was introduced, and yellow&blue scheme is simply a personal preference of the admiral (or certain commodore <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />) commanding RN ships in the Caribbean.

Like I said, I think we should make Caribbean RN yellow&blue, and EITC warships yellow&black.

Here's what I think:

<b>East India Company Ship</b>
<img src="http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h300/_Commodore_John_Paul_Jones/victory_100.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

<b>Royal Navy Ship</b>
<img src="http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h300/_Commodore_John_Paul_Jones/hiberna_110.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

See the differences between the two? Note the height of the stripes, the amount of gold in the stern, etc.
I also think RN ships should fly an ensign from the driversail and EIC ships should fly ensigns from a mounted flagmast. So I think we should make anything British yellow/black to preserve a bit of historical accuracy... in addition, what if you want to use the <i>Interceptor</i> or <i>Dauntless</i> for another ship?

Right now Dauntless and Interceptor are used as quest-only ships, so you wouldn't encounter them outside the quests.

Also for ordinary players (people not historically knowledgeable), they won't see a difference between RN and EITC ships.

Of course we don't even HAVE an EITC in the game right now. We've got a couple of uniforms and one ship, the Endeavour. Nothing substantial yet.

Well I certainly can't tell the difference, that's for sure <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

So, we certainly need a method to tell EITC and EN apart, which means we should give them two distinct color schemes. Besides, if we wanted to preserve historical accurancy, we'd have to dump color schemes altogether, right?

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->in addition, what if you want to use the Interceptor or Dauntless for another ship?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Then we give them another paint job. I'm sorry, but I don't perceive any problem here...
