Solved New Game Bug

Ive got that nasty bug that whenever i want to start a new game i get a blackscreen, but its still possible to open f1 menues and so on.
Vanilla game works fine
Maybe you can help me?
 
Sounds like an installation problem.

- Did you install Build 14 Beta 2.1 Full before installing Beta 2.5 Light?
- What folder do you have the game installed to?
- When you open your main game folder, is there a PROGRAM_new folder there?
- Please post the compile.log, system.log and possible error.log from your main game folder here

I'd also recommend you to have a quick look through our FAQ: http://www.piratesahoy.net/threads/frequently-asked-questions.14915/
Perhaps something there points you in the direction of what is wrong.

- No, there isnt
- There are none of these in the main folder, but in a mod folder I created for the mod. Could that be the problem?

I'm seeing stock game missing files. Did you install the original 2003 game first? If not, do you have it?
 
In that case, did you install the modpack to the same folder as the original game?
 
After installing everything in the same folder, it works now, thank you.
I installed it in an extra folder within the main game folder first, but that didnt work
 
Ive enocuntered a new problem but at least it doesnt prevent me from playing :p
Whenever I die the game crashes after the death movie.

Did you use the default starting nation or did you change it? By default you start on Barbados, but with a different nation, you might start elsewhere.

They're not invincible, if that's what you're asking. You can try some Special Weapons like grenades and the like.
 
I think I left everything like it was. Yes its Barbados, just forgot the name.
The problem with the undead crew is that I dont have any special weapons. I only have some random shitty weapons but Ill try to kill them.
Also, they all come to me at once, and some do lots of damage, around half of my life bar with one strike.
 
Position yourself next to the fence next to the gate. They will attack your officers at the gate in front of the Governors house and you can strike them but they will have trouble striking you.

It also sounds like you advanced in the storyline too fast and did not build yourself up enough. You are not Superman, but Clark Kent.
 
Well, i have no officers^^
I dont remember how I got that quest but im not far in the main storyline, im supposed to go to Saint Pierre and find out some information about Oiseau or how the french ship is called. Anyways, I had to cheat my way through the enemies so everythings fine. (At the moment :aar)

Edit: Is there a way I can change my ship with an Officer? I want to enter a ship and let my mate sail it.
Edit 2: I found out myself, but now there is a bug that i cannot complete any escort missions to antigua. When you go to the port from your ship, the merchant is supposed to aproach you, but here he spawns bugged inside a guard. You cannot move because its scripted

You want to swap ships with a companion of yours? Press F2>Ship>Transfer and you can select your and his ship. Then press "swap ships".
This even works instantly while at sea, so you can teleport your command to whichever ship in your fleet that you prefer.

AGH! I fixed that issue at LEAST three times and it still won't work. I'll look into it some time, but am not sure when I'll have the time. :modding
 
Many of the escort missions are bugged. I quit doing them years ago because maybe half of them do not work.
To terminate a bugged escort mission go to that ship and then go to the Captains cabin. He will be there talking gibberish. Kill him and leave. That will end the escort mission with no penalties.
 
Many of the escort missions are bugged. I quit doing them years ago because maybe half of them do not work.
To terminate a bugged escort mission go to that ship and then go to the Captains cabin. He will be there talking gibberish. Kill him and leave. That will end the escort mission with no penalties.

Thanks, Ill do that. Im just doing these missions because they're quick and easy money. Why do they want escort when nobody is ever attacking them? Another question, is it possible to buy ships better than tier 4? The biggest Ive seen are Frigates like a Raa.
 
Ship purchase depends on your player level. However, larger tier ships tend to be Navy ones and they won't sell them to you unless you have a Navy rank.
So you need a Letter of Marque first and then more promotions unlock the larger ships.

I'll put the Escort Quests on my To-Do list. Again. *sigh*
