New Starting Characters

64, 128 and 256 are the portrait texture size; there's different size portraits used in different parts of the interface.
All of them are needed and for one character, the three portrait files in these folders should have the same name.
 
I have added the new character YokoDias as described. But this character appears only in grey (without colors) in the game. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
Somebody has the same problem ?
 
Texture missing? Did you add anything to RESOURCE\Textures\Characters?

Just joking, just joking. I just find it funny that mods that things we could do years ago for PotC can be so impressive for CoAS. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" />
 
I discovered another problem with the new character Yoko from the russian MOD. The protrait didnt show up in the overview "left" of the F2 menue. In this overview are all the protraits from the officers, if you hired some. in other places the protraits shows up well.
Anyone got the same problem?
 
I found the solution myself right now.
One should also edit the file "pictures.ini". It is located in Age of Pirates 2\Resource\INI\Interfaces\<b>pictures.ini</b>
There one must add for each new character an entry in the right place.
Here:

sTextureName = portraits\128\face_243.tga

Here i have added the entry which is displayed in bold.
face_243.tga is the new potrait from mod.
 
The pictures.ini thing is also the same in PotC. We really should figure out something so the CoAS players don't have to reinvent the wheel all the time. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

I never got the Danielle one to load. I noticed that her animation file was much larger than other animation files. I just get a black screen when I try to start a game with her. She can use the normal "woman" animation file with only a slight glitch on her left hand while she has a sword drawn.

Was there something special you did to make that "danielle" animation run?

Nothing special, I installed the new Danielle just like the other two. The only difference is that you have to replace the old Danielle files. The files you need for Danielle are:
RESOURCE/Animation/Danielle.an
RESOURCE/Animation/Danielle.ani
RESOURCE/MODELS/Characters/Danielle.gm
RESOURCE/Textures/Characters/DanielA1.tga.tx <--You might have been missing this one, its oddly named

Grab those files from the mod and the appropriate portrait files and it should work.

well anyone whos actually seen the list of portraits will find something VERY interesting[those who dont look at em its interesting]

At portrait 203 we have....CAPTAIN BARBOSSA[well his portrait seems to be based off the POTC version]

And at portrait 222 we see our dear friend Clement again[from POTC]

Last but not least theres even a skeleton portrait at portrait 231

<b>Note:</b>Although its strange that i feel that the woman animations while doing the countering animations and feint swings are slow[im clueless to say if its a good or bad thing]

@Sordid i would guess the titles will still say man of honor etc but the shopkeepers etc do refer to me as miss and bow when i talk to them.
 
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the dialogs and other textual references aren't actually scripted for that, so female player characters will still be referred to as "man of honor" and so on, right?

I never thought of that. which is very strange usually that would be one of the first things i would have tested out .... maybe i not feeling very well or something <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
 
Just to save people some work, Danielle's portraits are the various face_235 files, which already exist as Danielle's standard portraits, so back them up and overwrite them if you want the new ones.
