can you post a screenshot of it? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

when it IS, duh! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

At the moment it replaces the War Galeon, but I'll make her a new ship.

See attached screenshot. She might not be perfect, but it sure is better than no Flying Dutchman! Again thanks to Cap_Varok!

not bad, not bad at all. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" /> a few tips on the sails though:

the sails in the movie where much more greyish green, and had a few holes in them. you might be able to use the new torn sails, which aren't in the game yet, but should be on the FTP server somewhere. the hull does look really good.

just in case he's reading this!

not bad! of course it's not perfect, but it looks about as close to the Flying Dutchman that you can go with a War Galleon...only the sails need fixing, a lighter colou greyish green, and the Hull needs to be made a lighter colour, and we need to remove whatever locators are used to add flags...

the hull seems fine to me. i don't think that the flying dutchman had flags in the movie. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> but it would of course be usefull. except that such a bright-coloured flag would look pretty silly on such a ship. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

thats what i ment. remove the locators that add the flags, which means removing the flags. when i look at the movie version of the Dutchman, there is DEFINATELY a difference in colour. this one's darker. still, i'll back up the War Galleon, and add the Dutchman to it and make it buyable but unencounterable...

i don't think that people would want to buy the flying dutchman. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> here's an idea:

what if it would be very rare to encounter, and if you would, it would be in a storm like the one where you fight against the black pearl? you know, a storm, but undamaging except from the lightning bolts. it would greatly enhance the ghost-ship atmosphere! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

oh, one more thing: on the pictures in the link i posted earlier (some time ago), you can see that the bowsprit has broken off.

Pieter, could you take those shots form the sun lit side?

i thought they said it was based upon a war galeon. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> those are not so slow at all. anyway, if you want to, make it a bit slower than the pearl was before you changed it's speed and maneuvrability. about 1 to half a knot. if the player has the pearl, he should be able to outrun it, but only just. the flying dutchman also should have a bit higher maneuvrability than the pearl, to make it better when sailing upwind.

NOTE: i came up with the above things with putting it into the build in mind. i don't really want it yet, as it doesn't really have a purpose in the game at the moment.

I copied the War Galeon ships_init.c entry for the Flying Dutchman. I would welcome anyone making a better set of stats for her though.

I'm not going to put another screenshot up. I'll put her into the next Alpha for people to test out instead. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

now to come up with a quest! i think we could use an alternative character for davy jones, like the bilgemunkey outfit until we have a proper one.

well, what i wish we could do is use the Barbossa model while we wait. far from perfect, but it'll do. a non-canonical Davy Jones. basically a grimy seaweedy sealife-covered Barbossa with a greyish-green beard. give him a dirty stick like sword which is suprizingly powerful considering it's looks [isn't that the case when you step on any kind of sharp thing in the sea? it looks harmless....but it's anything but that!]. is there any skinner willing to make that?

EDIT:OI! Mates! kinda lost 'ere! forgotten where these files are supposed to go!

sounds like barbossa had fallen overboard to me! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

LOL! HAHAHAHAHA! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> true, but bah! we could live with a soaked, seaweed covered Barbossa for a few weeks, months or years....until we have a PROPER Davy Jones!

uuuhh...anyone willing to help me with installing the ruddy sinking ship into the game? im kinda lost...been a whle since i last did any file fiddling, and i dont want to risk wrecking the game....
