I'm currently playing the assassin storyline:

Glub glub glub.

An epic battle that lasted for real time hours. In the end we just sailed off as we were out of ammo.

You know you are in trouble when........... It's an English punitive squadron composed of 2nd, 3rd, 4th rates, and frigates waiting to intercept me. Look at all that red on the minimap.

I decided to take a look at MKs pinnace in POTC, and WOW that is a sharp ship. I could not appreciate her in ERAS because of the distortion. I gotta play ERAS again without the distortion.

You ported her? Nice! :woot

MK released a file that should undo the distortion. You probably saw that already, I think?

Yes, it is ridiculously easy to do. I just put his skin on the POTC version. There are three versions and the only difference I can see so far is the rear panel. I went with the crescent moon but one of the others is probably more realistic.

Yes I have that file but will wait until MK releases his next patch to start playing ERAS again.

I personally like that third one best. Dutch coat of arms, arms of Amsterdam, etc.
That other one is certainly good for variety too. And I think "Halve Maen" was a fairly common ship name.

There are some other slight differences. The third pictured actually has more ornate bow decoration and port/starboard gallery decoration as well.

FYI all three of the sterns were taken from Van de Velde drawings. The first one of the Fazant (Pheasant) is actually the most authentic and true to the original images.

Pieter you are correct - there were indeed a lot of ships named Halve Maen and Halve Maan that had the crescent moon and mullet star decorations as I portray on this model very correctly and true to period.

The last one is actually very authentic when you compare it to paintings but it is not really based on any actual ship. I made it up - but I feel it is the most typical when looking at paintings of this ship type (Mid sized Dutch pinnaces) built from roughly 1645-1675.
